Even after watching the game, I still didn't know who Gilbert Brantley was.
MLF clock management. End of half and end of game. What a breath of fresh air compared to MM constantly fucking that up.
This.
Pack needed someone to step up....and Alan Lazard did just that. Thinking back to preseason when it was debated who to keep between Shepard and Lazard. Thankfully we were able to keep from losing Lazard. Shep can sit for a bit.
Hopefully the Jamaal Williams bashers are feeling like football ignoramuses tonight. Kid can get the tough yards, is assignment sure, and apparently a smart ballplayer.
Run defense was key in keeping Detroit one dimensional tonight. Dean Lowry was very good. Nice to see after he got pushed around a bit by Philly. Solid pass rush by the Smith Bros and Fackrell at key moments too !!
Marcedes - knew he could be a nice outlet in addition to a bruising blocker. Great game.
Still havenât played a complete game. Look the fuck out when we do !!!!!
The game thread is a hilarious read as usual. Flowers was not just pushing on the shoulder pad, both times, he grabbed the inside of the shoulder pad and was pushing up as would be expected when you are trying to get someone to move backwards. Maybe he should try another technique?
Jones could've had a TD reception if he had used the same technique Lizard did.
Okay, obviously THRILLED to be 5-0. But ... that was one sloppy performance, and we need to clean it up.
The WRâs need to see the Wizard and get a heart. Seriously disappointed in G-Mo and MVS (other than the one long pass to MVS. Very nice, but hey, we need more especially with Devante out).
I kept cheering for a pass to Kumerow or Lazard to find someone new to give us a boost, and Lazard really came through.
Marcedes Lewis is Mr. Dependable. When you consider all the $ weâre giving to Graham, ML is a bargain!
Sometimes I feel like Rogers is a little too dependent on Graham and A.Jones. Tonight Graham was just okay ... I remember one good reception, but thatâs about it. A. Jones and D. Shepherd together could have cost us the game tonight! I think the Cowboys game went to his head!
Itâs great to be 5-1 (and especially 3-0 in the division), but letâs clean it up for Oakland and then 2 tough games with K.C. And the Chargers.
2 weeks in a row we have to play a team coming off a bye. Weâre going to get the Raiders best shot. The key is going to be keeping Jacobs in check.
Forgot to give Williams some love. Falling down short of the goal line like he did at the end is the kind of situational awareness I have been wanting to see more of from the Packers. Kid has a buck seven on the ground (with a sparkling 7.4 YPC), and 32 more yards via the air and a score, and instead of thinking "pad mah stats", he has the wherewithal to go down, and run some more clock off.
That young man had his head in the game at the most crucial juncture possible. If he did bugger all the rest of the game, that one play, alone, should get him a game ball. That's the kind of selfless, heads up play that this team needs to reward in droves. That kind of behavior is emblematic of Packer football. And sweet Jesus, I'm doing a little jig at the prospect of Jones and Williams as a 1-2 punch.
Not as bad a call as many are saying and certainly not the "phantom call" that Mike Florio is claiming.
"Mr. Florio line 2 it's Washington. The're looking for a spin doctor."

Both Lafluer and AR said in their pressers that he was told to do that in the huddle.
^^^^ Ty Montgomery would disagree.

You people better stop calling me bimbo!
In the last 10 years there is one team that has 11 comebacks from 13 or more down. You can make it 12 now. No other team is even close. Thanks Packers!
Oh yeah....that Aaron Rodgers guy....might wanna keep an eye on him. I don't think he's washed up quite yet.
AJ Green might play this Sunday -- would you give up a 3rd rounder for him? Better yet, would the Bengals accept a 3rd for him? I'd only go as high as a 4th & flip-flop 5ths.
Get Jordy in for a workout -- Christ Almighty
Smith Bros -- these 2 guys can really play! They are getting pressure with just 4 & when Pettine brought the house (rushed 7) Stafford curled up in the fetal position.
I hope Savage & Adams come back soon -- this team really needs them both.
I like the get Jordy in for a workout idea, especially since Don Hutson is not available.
I would absolutely give up to a 3rd for AJ Green. He would explode in this offense.

12 showing why he truly is the GOAT (did ya see the throws he was making?!)
The kunty Lions and their fans bitching and moaning about the game being stolen from them. Yeah, it was the referees causing you to settle for field goals instead of TD's...

ST...Fuck Mengina...he's been blessed with great P and aging but solid K...his coverage and return schemes are shit and almost cost us the game.
We've got a lot of WR that are athletically gifted, but fail to produce consistently...too many drops, bad routes, miscommunication events. #12 was dealing last night...and those drops were like trying to piss up a rope.
Can whatever jeenyus who decided to flick the lights on-and-off like an 8 year old hyped up on sugar in his bedroom STOP DOING IT?!!! It may be the Bee's Knees for the fans, but it's annoying AF for the millions of people watching the game on TV.
---- All white unis at home When I saw those I knew it was going to a tough win
---- I'm still not sure Detoilet scored a TD. Did the ball ever really cross the goal?
---- Shepard. Cut him. He's nothing special.

I am a huge country music fan and trust me you aren't missing much with not knowing who he is.
Positives:
- That was a gutsy win by the Packers. They got down early but they stuck with their plan. It was nice seeing MLF stick to the run and be balanced offensively.
- This one to me was kind of a must win. why? to go up 3-0 in this division is a huge deal
- Williams going down instead of scoring was a great thing to see
- I am really starting to like the job that MLF is doing. He has this team well coached and he sticks to things like running the damn ball
Negatives:
- What is it with the other team and the helmet to helmet hits?
- Officiating and fans griping about it. The Lions should have never been in the position of having the Packers come back against them.

Hilarious. I was thinking the exact same thing after watching Graham catch a ball, take a couple of lumbering steps and practically collapse on his own.
Love how the defense tightened up after the initial onslaught. Remember that the Packers will be facing 3 teams in a row coming off of their byes including last night. So, those teams will have self-scouted and will have had extra time to prepare. It is all about withstanding the initial blow and adjusting quickly. The D did just that.
There is no question that King can be targeted and can't keep up with quick, shifty receivers. But, the defense is better with him in the lineup than not. He has flaws, but is still an asset.
I know LaFleur is working with what he's got, but MVS or GMo on jet sweeps is not their game. Gute really needs to add speed at the WR spot. Too many similar guys in GMo, Lazard, Kumerow and even St. Brown.
I thought LaFleur called a really nice game. Such a great balance between run and pass, and not panicking with just passing all the time.

Went to game and had a blast
Williams might be becoming my favorite player. His energy and effort really got the team going. Made several big plays
Mase is Mase. Clutch. So fun watching him do the leap (sort of)
Lazard was a bright spot in an otherwise dreadful night for the WRs
OL gave Rodgers plenty of time to throw and the run game was solid
We won. Still not sure how or why, but itâs all good and 3-0 in division.
The Smith bros get it all going

The receivers need to CTFB. Not pretty
Packers giving up the two big passes
Too many Loins fans at the game
They might be 5-1, but this team needs to get better. Namely at the WR and TE spot. Make a deal Gute

3rd is an insane price for 8 games. If that's the asking price you gotta walk away. We got too many holes to fill to be giving away 3rd round picks for 8 games of service.
+ Didnât see the game but was listening to NFL Radio and they were talking about the calls against the Loins. Queenie fans must really be spazzing

I think @Timpranillo is thinking about AJ Green finishing his career in Green Bay. I know I am.
At least Stafford handled it right. "Some calls go for you & some go against. That's the way it goes. We have to play better." Good call Matt. Might want to start with scoring TD's instead of FG's. This week vs. Minnesota would be a fantastic place to start.
Talking heads are glossing over the so called "touchdown" that was never scored. The only way the Loins got the ball across the goal line was from Praters foot. The Packer defense stuffed him. You don't see them crying about it. They still went out & played to win.
I've heard some of the folks mention the WR injuries (Adams, MVS, GMO) but nobody....and I do mean NOBODY has mentioned the Packer starting Safety not playing. That's how the Loins jumped on them early but the defense still kept battling. Even after the offense/special teams turned it over THREE times, the defense said...."Oh HELL no! You're not crossing that goal line." I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a Packer defense do that. 2010 I guess?
Boris, I would say it was about 2010 when we last saw the Packers play truly something resembling defense. It has been a long long time where we could watch a game and think "this defense can actually win a game for us" I agree that the Lions pounced on the Packers with Savage out of the game.
I really like how this defense is playing. Every sngle player on that side of the ball is playing their guts out and playing well. Unlike the recent years where they looked like the keystone cops out there.
I totally agree on the need for speed at the WR position and I would think Gute knows this and he already has that on his to do list.

Disagree. I'm looking at AJ Green for 13 games. Every year that goes by is another year closer to AR hanging them up. We're 5-1 and there's nobody in the NFC that is scaring the crap out of anyone today. Add AJ Green to this lineup, get Adams back, and this instantly becomes the best offense in the conference.
Yeah, adding Green makes so much sense.
++++ My man, Allen Lazard, was awesome! I loved how he manhandled the CB who was covering him on the sideline! I'll bet ARod and MLF noticed, too! I loved how he caught that TD pass and protected the ball while going to the ground in the end zone. The man can play, showed he belongs here and definitely deserves more playing time. Jamaal Williams, coming off concussion protocol, had a great game, too. Both he and Lazard deserve game balls. Marcedes Lewis showed that he is the best TE on our team. Our pass rushers showed up in the 2nd Half. Dean Lowry stuffed the run all night long. He was impressive! Mason Crosby nailing the game winner and going for a Lambeau Leap! I hope that filled his family with the love, laughter and spirit that heals! 5-1 in the standings and 3-0 in the Division!!! GO PACK, GO!!!
----- Derrious Shepherd had a horrible night. An INT and a fumble recovered by the Loins. Not the stuff you build a career on. Allison, although injured later in the game, couldn't hang onto the ball. Lazard should move up to take his spot in the WR group, for now. I did not listen to the ESPN broadcast as I had Wayne and Larry on the radio. I missed all the Stafford's wife talk and the lack of Crosby's family talk. Poor announcers on ESPN, I'd say, to not even get parity on the illnesses that affect both families. Why did it seem our WRs and RBs had the wrong shoes on? Lots of slipping and sliding that cost us.
Cincy has made it clear that Green isn't going anywhere.

+/- King, seems like he's either in position or getting torched. At least he's not in the tub.
- WR's not named Lazard...the rest just look like guys, and that might be a compliment to Shepherd.

Maybe next year, take that money that's currently wasted on Jimmy Graham and look for a bonafide #2 wideout. I don't think there's one on the roster right now.
Really sloppy game with the turnovers and dropped passes. King looked awful early and then played well after. We are still giving up way too many explosive plays but the run d showed up and played well.
Positives: J Williams, Smith's, Rodgers, Lowry, Lazard, Marcedes Lewis, Jaire, Oline play was pretty solid.
Negatives: Our receivers are pretty bad. Would like to see MVS do more. Hopefully Lazard only grows from this as I'm not sure guys like Sheperd and Kumerow belong on the active roster. Dropped passes, turnovers.
Very fortunate (dare I say lucky) to get out of this one with a win. A win is a win but it was ugly and the refs certainly helped us out.
