My assumption was that he kept attempting this to set up something later. CBs playing off means there aren’t good options for shot plays like there would be if they were at the line. If he guessed right then we would have put away the Panthers by halftime...

In the end the good news is that Rodgers has a LONG memory and he won’t make this mistake again. He internalizes every shitty feeling and uses it to fuel success.

Listening to LaFleur, the reason that they kept throwing quick passes out to the WRs was that watching tape they felt that the Panther CBs would have a lot of difficulty tackling our WRs .... the problem is that "they had their best tackling game of the season".

Rewatched some drives. 4 big mistakes

Lazard drop at end of First Half cost us 3 pts.

Adams drop cost us drive sustaining First Down

Missed block by Tonyan on WR quick pass to Lazard cost us drive sustaining First Down

Third down play when AR threw to the sideline to Jones who was immediately tackled was a "misread by Rodgers" LBer covering Jones initially went into LOS like he was going to blitz. AR thought he did blitz and thought no one would be covering Jones. If he wait4ed on the other side a split second longer Lazard came wide open for what looked like would be more than a First Down

That in addition to not running the ball vs. a "light box" , good plays, and good deception by Panthers resulted in what we saw.

MLF is still learning and the Panther game will be very useful.

As I detailed in a previous post, AR was fooled on this play by the LBer who ends up covering Jones. The LBer initially engages an o-lineman as if to blitz, the read is for Jones to release. AR looks elsewhere initially AFTER seeing the LBer blitz , or what he thought was blitz. In his mind he has Jones all alone up the sideline, but the Lber peels off after inciting Jones to release and is there for the immediate tackle.

12 threw the ball to Aaron Jones at the 40 on this 3rd and 4 play, and the Packers were forced to punt. Had he seen an open Allen Lazard at midfield, the drive would've continued. It wasn't a good night for the best player in the league.

Saw too much of this on my second viewing of the game. He wasn't seeing the field the way he has most of the year.

Lazard may have dropped it....it's happened before.

Found on the internet: Adrian Amos is flourishing in his new role as a linebacker/slot in one of the Packers’ dime packages. In the last two games Pettine has been using two different dime packages to replace injured Raven Greene (shoulder). Both include the same players in the back seven but in different positions. When it’s not a clear-cut passing down Amos moves from safety to linebacker/slot, and Will Redmond replaces him at safety. On more obvious passing downs, Amos stays at safety and Redmond plays linebacker/slot. Playing the linebacker/slot position gets Amos closer to the line of scrimmage and middle of the action. He had three pass breakups and a sack, and he was second on the team in tackles (seven).

They don't seem to trust JJ at any position.

That's great to hear about Amos.  His rep is being a steady assignment sure safety, not a playmaker per se. I thought he just had one of those career games vs CAR but if this is the result of adjusting his duties, more of that please!  Pettine may be more comfortable rolling him up now also because Savage is coming on playing center field lately.  Getting more excited to see this secondary vs TEN.
