One thing that I noticed last night was the team appeared to be much more "together". Much more communication and physical interaction after plays. TD celebrations involved almost the entire offense (that is why I think only Jones (who had never done it) did LL). Some of Bennett's & even Adams body language in first three games was not good. None of that last night, everyone was actively engaged ...of course except for Randall NBA study done a couple of years ago looked at the amount of physical interaction during deadfall periods between teammates (huddling, slapping hands, etc). They found that the most successful teams had the most physical contact. Both Jordy & AR spoke about the conversations that took place among teammates about race during the week & how it "galvanized" the team. I could see it.

I've heard of this Physical Interaction Success Study.

Lane Taylor totally held down LT.  McCray looked better but it was still sloppy at times.  But definitely a huge improvement.  It was a good test.  Definitely makes you feel much better if Buluga or Bak need more time.

Tom Silverstein with some details on the OL shuffle and other offensive adjustments made for last night. Lane Taylor found out he was playing LT Tuesday morning and only had a few practice reps on Weds. Pretty astounding. MM and Campen really earned their paychecks last night.

Negatives: Martinez and Jones colliding after both dove for the loose ball that glanced off Glennon's knee, causing Jones to be out for a few plays. Its nice to see aggressive play but that could have been tragic.

So what should they have done?

"No Sir, I believe I jumped on the last free ball so to be fair, I believe you should jump onto that ball."

Lets see how Randall and the Packers handle this situation.  The kid has talent, but may lack the maturity to accept responsibility.  Maybe the Pack has seen enough to be done with him, but I haven't.  This may be a valuable learning experience for him.  He needs to take it as such or he will quickly run out of opportunities.

I agree Randall has talent and I also highly agree he lacks maturity!!  He is starting to remind me of Ahmad Carroll a few years ago. Same kind of situation, talent but no discipline and a brewing attitude problem.  In defense of Randall I thought  his selection  was not the right fit for GB because he played mostly a zone type defense in college and he developed some of the habits (peeking in the backfield that cannot possibly succeed in the NFL) .  Just look at Casey Hayward a much more disciplined player, much more mature, but not nearly the athlete that Randall is.  I still can't believe how many people wanted him gone.  He went to San Diego and is doing well because his talents match what they  do on defense.  I suspect Randall could also benefit from a change in scenery but GB will sit on him until they get at least something for him.  So to cut to the chase I hope Randall grows up while he is getting splinters in his backside and then GB moves him for a draft pick- but that will not happen in 17!

So, as mentioned, I fell asleep at halftime. What happened with Lane Taylor. I read he got slid out to LT? Did Pankey get hurt now too? Or did they flip-flop to keep Rodgers alive?

I think you fell asleep before the game started.

I missed the player intros making dinner for the family and didn't get to watch much of the non-quick drives very closely. It just worked out I saw quite a bit of the defense in the first half. Thursday Nights suck.

Love that Matthew's has continued his strong start.

Glad that Randall's ass was benched after that TD pass. Guess he threw a fit and got sent home. Cut him. Let Hawkins play- he's earned it.

Relieved Jones came back- they're so vulnerable over the middle when he's not there. By seasons end this D should be pretty damned good if they're all playing.

In some strange way, this early season OL injury epidemic might actually have a silver lining. Rodgers has been forced to throw in a rhythm. He sometimes gets spoiled- he passes up open guys to allow for guys to run around some more. He's not getting away with that right now. It's a tool in the kit, sure- and it makes him impossible to defend later in the year- but for now having him throw the ball earlier gets that timing a little sharper, and I think it's helping his play. A couple ill advised throws aside, he's been great and it's still early. This could be a monster year as these gurus start coming back.

More Kendricks, less Bennett please.

When the Bears unwrap Trubisky, this rivalry is on. They're closer than people think.

Not enough can be said about what a great job MM and staff did fielding an Oline that can only be called a frankenline. To play 4 guards and a center in an NFL game is remarkable. To do so and dominate is even more so. There were people on this board, prior to the game, asking the team to run the ball down the Bears throats, to throw short, quick passes, and to get the ball out quick. They were dismissed as crazy talk, as this is not what the Packers and MM do. Especially AR12. But dagnabbit, that's what they did. And did often. It was masterful.

I don't think the national media realizes what an accomplishment it was to play quality football with 4 guards and a center either. But it was. Color me impressed.

Starting to wonder if Jared Cook wasn't a better fit for this offense, Martellius looks out of sync and even slow at times. Hopefully still settling in.

Good point.  I have been thinking the same thing.  It's early yet.  We'll know more as the season gets old.

Bennett has the same number of receptions as Jordy Nelson after 4 games. Hes tied for 3rd most on the team behind Cobb and Montgomery. He's going to completely destroy the numbers Cook put up last year in GB. He's also the best blocking TE Green Bay has had in years.

Every week it's the same narrative. Bennett has been disappointing. More Kendricks please. Maybe should have kept Cook.

While I agree I'd like to see more Kendricks. It's because I'd like to see two TEs that can actually block in two TE sets as the weather starts turning nasty. But Bennett is coming along just fine.

MC nicely stated about A-Rod.  Trying to be too cautious to avoid any chance for a pick has forced our HOF QB to hold the ball too long too often.  We all love when he wins with no picks and a couple scrambles ending with tosses to wide open receivers but it comes with a tax.

Turnovers are the biggest single variable in the outcome of any NFL game, I'll take AR as he is.

I think they should have talked about it over a late supper. I hear the brats were very good on Thursday night. I just don't like to see our players hurting each other. The Packers have done enough of that over the years.

Agree with most of your points here.

I think one of the reason the Bears held back Trubisky is the style of offense he came from.  He was basically 100% shotgun in college and barely knew how to handle taking a snap from center.  I think once the Bears are officially "out of it" this year he gets his feet wet and takes over in 2018.   Just the few times I saw him in preseason, he looks like a big time talent and I could see why the Bears went all out to get him.  Very good arm, very mobile, accurate, I think the days of the Bears being shaky at QB will be over once he gets some experience.

Agreed.  There is a fine line to that balance of those variables and by necessity he is there.  When he gets out of balance (early last year) he becomes mortal.

My favorite offensive play of the game? Q1, 1st drive. 3rd and 1, big completion to Bennett.

3 TE set . Williams in the backfield, Nelson split right.

3te1

PA left to Williams. EVERYONE is selling the run.

3te2

Rodgers rolls-out right with ALL 3 TE's in his view, and Nelson is deep (those are his feet at the top - ALL-22 cut that off).

3te3

Bennett WIDE open, Jordy getting bracketed with S help deep.

3te4

They did this PA / roll-out with a rookie in the backfield, They threw mid-range on 3rd and 1. They put this on tape for all to see. Next time does the safety leave the double to cover the TE (Bennett here) and leave Nelson 1:1?

Just love how this played out.
