him and Micah Hyde essentially split snaps in the slot. Hayward will slowly take over and Tramon and Shields will man the outsides.

I'd expect Hayward to snag a pick or two vs. McCown on Monday night. Kid's a ball hawk.

More viewers watched the "Sunday Night Football" game between the Packers and Vikings than watched Game 4 of the World Series between the Red Sox and Cardinals, which aired opposite the football game.

Packers at Vikings on NBC-TV had 16.9 million viewers, compared to 16.0 million viewers for Red Sox-Cardinals on Fox. The rating for the football game was 9.8, while the rating for the baseball game was 9.4.

It marked the third time in four years the audience for a Sunday night NFL telecast outdrew Game 4 of the World Series.

Defensive backs:

Morgan Burnett 47

Sam Shields 47

Tramon Williams 47

M.D. Jennings 37

Casey Hayward 22

Micah Hyde 19

Davon House 11

Chris Banjo 10.

Noteworthy:

Five cornerbacks – Williams, Shields, Hayward, Hyde and House – all played, with Hayward making his season debut. He and Hyde split snaps in the dime package, where Jerron McMillian has lost his spot. He didn’t play a single snap on defense. continue

~20 snaps sounds about right to me for his first week back.  Before I looked it up I thought he may have played 10-12.  Can't give him too much if he hasn't played in a while and past that Hyde is pretty damn good in his own right.

Have to look at it as Hayward takes all of McMillian's snaps and not having 22 on the field at this point in his career is a good thing.  McMillian needs to figure out where to be and when.  It's evident even to a casual fan that he's lost out there on a good number of snaps.

Hayward is at his best reading plays and making picks. Hyde is really proficient as a mini lb creating plays in the front seven.  Together they become a bit of a problem if you don't know which one will be in.  If you want more pressure use Hyde.  If down and distance is longer Hayward has to be accounted for by the QB.

I'd really be interested in the down and distance of Hayward's snaps.   Anyway to find that out?

Woodson. Butler.

Just two recent Packer examples of Safeties that started as ball hawking cornerbacks that could tackle, but didn't "have as much speed". . .

There are many more, I just don't care to look.

It's a natural progression, if, you have cornerbacks that are football players.  I like that both are potential candidates.  I love how House was playing. Dan Compers is no fool.  He will find the way to get the best players on the field. The most I have heard from Bush this year is inactive or hurt, not starting in the nickle.

That's a good point.  A year ago on opening day, Bush was a starting CB.  Now he's about as likely to see time as a DB as I am as a punter.  That's a good thing.

It must be easier to teach a young guy corner for some reason.  I guess I can see that what with the S's making all the calls and McMillian still being completely overwhelmed.

I wonder if they realize that Hyde is just a baller and he needs to be on the field so they're putting him there for now.  I remember him from Ioduh - he was damn good with the ball in front of him but he was Bush-like when he had to track it over his head.  Seems to me S is a position where the ball should always be in front of you.  Wouldn't shock me to see him moved when he has an offseason to learn it.
