He's not coming back this year.  Looks like the Yosh Nijman/Marcedes Lewis show from here on out.

Nijman has been surprisingly adequate when he’s played.  That said, he’s going to be tested big time this week if Von Miller is healthy.  This will give us an idea going forward how well he can handle things in the future.

Disagree. I think this was the whole point of doing that surgery now. Recovery time can be as little as 2 weeks for that procedure . And I am guessing he had the surgery last week.

Also, the Packers have a starting T on their roster that almost everyone has forgotten about in Kelly. He’s now healthy. Was IIRC a RT for the Titans last year and did well. I don’t know if he plays left.

One thing that AR said they learned from TB game last season was that they have to give their offensive tackles (other than Bak & Jenkins) some help early, let them settle down, and the adrenaline of the pass rushers declines a bit.

Sounds about right on the timeframe. He was practicing every day, limited or not, then last week was out all week. That would suggest the procedure happened after or even before the Seattle game.

Good news is right

Yosh Nijman has been more than adequate, all things considered.  Obviously, he’s no Bak nor is he Jenkins in terms of shutdown ability, but when he was in there at LT he more than held his own.

PFF has him right near the middle of the pack as far as pass blocking.

Turner didn’t have a good game against Minnesota, but he’s been pretty good overall.

What I’d want to know is how Nijman ranks against LTs (only).  I’ll bet he’s at least middle of the road.

Smart move for LaFleur to publicly support his kicker even if he doesn’t 100% mean it.  IMO, that’s way more productive than calling him out, Bruce Arians style.

Out of fear of overstepping some of the in-house information, Aaron Rodgers says on that based on the medical results the Packers have been given so far, Jaire Alexander hasn’t had setbacks with his shoulder injury. They’re still aiming for a return this season.

Couldn't have Rams week without...

I never knew that existed.  Funny stuff.  I notice future Packers’ special teams coordinator Nolan Cromwell in the video.  He was the best ST coordinator the Pack had in the 40+ years I’ve been watching them.

I would not count on Z, Jaire, or Bahk returning this year. If lucky, Myers will return sometime. Jones will return, most likely after the bye or a week later. It sucks because this team was up to something special until guys started falling like flies in the first hard freeze.

Behind a paywall.  Wall Street Journal.

Aaron Rodgers Doesn’t Just Have Any Toe Injury. He Has Covid Toe.

Basically, it's something that likely won't go away for the rest of the season, is very painful and gets worse in cold weather.

Jesus fuck.

Anyone know a good farrier?

If only there was something he could have done to prevent this.

If Bakh doesn't come back at close to top form by the playoffs, they aren't really a threat to win without Jenkins and Bakh anyway (and the injuries to all the pass rushers are also going to catch up with them). However, it would have been ironic after all the offseason controversy about the front office never doing enough to "win now" that the season could have been derailed because of a dubious decision by Rodgers himself.

You know who has been really good without much notice? Billy Turner.

Before Bahk got hurt last year, the Packers had arguably the best tackle, guard, and center in the league. All three of those guys are gone (along with Linsley's replacement who was looking very good for a rookie), and the line is still functioning.

The problem isn't that Nijman isn't serviceable. He definitely is. He seems to be a middle-of-the-road type LT and it's an impressive coaching job to get that out of your third LT. He'd be really good lining up next to a superstar LG (Jenkins) and a really good center (Linsley or Myers). The problem is that all the stars are gone and instead of having an advantage at all three positions in one-on-one matchups, they now just have guys good enough to get by. You have to limit the offense now and leave a TE and/or a back in to block.

I’m of the opinion that if they don’t all return (Bak, Z, Jaire, Jones) and play well I’m not sure this team will advance very far in the postseason.

Say what you want about the Vikings, but their offense isn’t a whole lot different (weapons) than you will see from TB, Dallas. LAR, and other contenders in the NFC.   I also think that over the course of time, teams will catch up with these backups and scheme and respond accordingly.   In summary, there’s only so much you can expect out of backups and 3rd string guys.

I'm pretty confident we'll get Gary and A. Jones back sooner rather than later.  Bahktiari is likely (assuming no complications from cleanup surgery).  Myers is maybe.  Jaire and Z - I wouldn't count on.  OL depth is rail thin now.

Turner is an odd case. He wasn't very good at RG in 2019. When he became the odds on replacement for Bulaga last year that seemed like a disaster waiting to happen. He seems to be one of those rare guys that is really good at tackle but not very good at playing guard.

I 100% expect all these guys to return in mid December to early January. The question is will they be the same guys they were in 2020 (or early 2021 for Jaire) in time for the playoffs? I think Jaire and Z will be but hard to say with Bahk.

Rodgers played on one leg in 2014 and short of a Bostick brain fart, we damn near made the SB. This defense is also far better than that one was as well.

Sadly, ST's is equally about as bad.

Rodgers said he believes it will take several weeks to feel better. We're in November. January is a long ways and a lot can and will happen, including other NFL teams health and status etc.

If they have no shot of getting the #1 seed but have a playoff home field spot clinched I expect to see Jordan Love start against the Lions on Jan 2, 2022.  Maybe 2022 is Jordan's year.
