Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs skipped practice on Thursday and wasn’t present on Friday because he is upset with his opportunities in the passing game, sources told Packers On SI.

Because he didn’t practice the last two days, he is officially doubtful for Sunday’s game at the Los Angeles Rams.

Doubs practiced on Wednesday but didn’t show up on Thursday. Worried about Doubs’s well-being, team representatives found him at his home.

Doubs is on pace for 85 catches on the year.

His starting QB missed 2 games due to a knee injury and was understandably rusty in the 1st half of last weeks game.

In short, WTF Romeo?

I swear what is it with Diva's who play WR in this league...

Get the sense this is more than just his role on the team or targets that's bothering him. Moreso outside concerns coming into the building than football related concerns being the central issue. Unfortunately, I don't think the shit storm this is going to stir up is going to help things get better for him.

There's times it's bad when they keep things in the building, but if the kid is going through something you'd like to think the reporters would have some respect for that. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the beat deals with it.

McGinns scouting report on Doubs is popping back up with this news. I have to admit I don’t recall this at the time he was drafted….

He’s not exaggerating. One AFC scout told our draft analyst Bob McGinn that he deemed Doubs “mentally frail” before then adding: “He wigged out at the Combine. He had so much anxiety and apprehension that he stayed in his room and never came out. Did not participate in the combine. After the initial day, he never came out. That was very much a concern that our scouts had. He's probably no better than a third day guy at best.”

Other scouts offered versions of the same takeaway. Word of an “anxiety attack” spread

I hope Doubs is OK medically/mental health wise and if that is what is causing his absence that he gets the assistance he needs.

If the absence is not medically related, that is an entirely different story.

If it is something like anxiety, any mental issue really, then that is different than just being a diva or unhappy with his role.  I just wish society was in a better place where anyone could just come out and say that's what they were struggling with.  When we see these sort of cryptic reports, all that does is fuel speculation ad get folks riled up (myself included).  It would be nice to just have an honest answer for what is going on.

He threw his helmet on the sideline after the INT that went off Musgrave's and then his hands, which is more emotion than I have seen him display. In his presser on Monday MLF explained that the pass was intended for Doubs, but that he did not adjust his route correctly according to the coverage, which accounted for he and Musgrave being in the same "passing window". Could be over reacting to perceived criticism?

Doubs response to this at the time was that he had food poisoning and that's why he didn't participate.

While as fans we love the idea of all these WRs being unselfish and just doing whatever it takes to win, the reality is it was never going to stay like that when each player has to also look out for their own livelihood.  Some players will stand out and some will get left behind and everyone reacts differently to these situations.

On the one hand it's very hard for me to believe Rome is this selfish given his demeanor has up til now been the exact opposite.  On the other hand Huber is not a clickbait reporter and has long standing ties with the team.

Any time news like this gets out of the building there's usually smoke and regardless of what's actually going on it's not good for anyone involved.  MLF has his work cut out for him.

If some (or all ) of this is tied to MLF revealing Doubs mistake on the INT, the organization is going to want to distance itself from anyone speculating that MLF should not have said that at the Presser, and put it all on the player.

It would be nice if personal issues were respected as personal. We don't need to know everything (and I'm someone that loves to know everything )

Oh for sure, and I'm not saying we need the full details, or even to know that it is mental health related.  Just that it would be nice if they provided something that helped give more context to what was going on so everyone isn't making wild assumptions.

We don’t know what we don’t know.

Mental Health is a very big deal and it should be with the athletes.

Just ask Giannis

I'm withholding judgment until more information comes out.

Athletes in general, and especially pro football players, have many layers of support if they are having a mental health issue, real or perceived.
If they choose to not use them, I'm not sure what more can be done.

I certainly hope he can work through whatever it is, and I hope he can return to the team a better man and player.
In the meantime, he can take a week or more to make some decisions. We've got other guys that are ready to step up.

Huber reporting Packers have suspended him.

JA suspended in 2023, Romeo in 2024, any odds on who is next?

I guess shipping the cancerous QB off to NY did not result in everything being all sunshine and rainbows in Green Bay after all.

Anyone think the intrepid reporters who cover this team will get the full story? Anyone?

Dare I say “not Packer people”?

We don't know the entire story....and you know how the Packers org is. Very tight lipped. We'll find out eventually just like Jaire last year.

Dare I say “not Packer people”?    If it is some mental problem, for sure he needs to get the help he needs.  If it’s me, me, me, bench em.

Mental problems and "me, me, me" are often one and the same.  But the answer for both is the same:  Give him the support he needs/be on his side but also set limits for acceptable behavior.  It sounds like that's what they've done with the suspension, but also continuing to emphasize that he is valued and a part of the team.  Turning against him doesn't help but setting consequences and limiting any negative impact on the team is also necessary.  I am pulling for him and hope he can work through this.  He is still "Packer People."
