Perry to IR w/Designation to Return is my guess. Maybe Stoneburner is brought up more for ST than pass catching. With the LB injuries the ST guys are now starters, so need the depth on STs.
I can see the 5 TE formation now.
Not a slot-type, but he's been flexed wide plenty RT @packerdan77: you think they try and put Finley as an actual WR in place of Cobb?
Even though the #Packers might have five TEs, consider that Finley, Stoneburner and Bostick are all wide receivers in tight end bodies
Do you think the Browns will notice?
Stoneburner and Bostick played WR in college. Other than the untimely fumble I liked what I saw of Stoneburner in the preseason.
good for Stoner.....first time I think I ever thought something similar to hntr5....gotta be for some Special Teams stuff
#Packers WR Randall Cobb has been put on injured reserve / designated to return, according to NFL source. Can return to practice in 6 weeks
#Packers put Cobb on IR to make room for WR Myles White, who was added from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. #Packers
TE Jake Stoneburner was added to the 53-man roster and OL Greg Van Roten was put on season-ending IR, source said. #Packers
Here's why the Stoneburner move was made: TE Jermichael Finley is going to be playing a lot of WR with Cobb gone. #Packers

So... contrary to other posts, we didn't sign King? Or did we?
So, Cobb is gone until week 13 (because I believe he can't play for 8 weeks, even if he can practice in 6 weeks).
With Van Roten gone, we have only two backup linemen--Lane and Newhouse.
I imagine they are crossing their fingers for the next few weeks hoping no o-linemen get hurt, so that when Starks is back they can release Hill and free up an o-line position--hopefully either Sherrod or Tretter is ready to play. I believe the three week period for them to be put on the active roster w/ an exemption starts this week, so that after the 3 weeks they need to be activated, cut, or put on IR for the year.
#Packers also signed signed LB Victor Aiyewa to the practice squad.
So... contrary to other posts, we didn't sign King? Or did we?
He chose to stay with the Donks. Apparently elevated to their 53 man roster.

Damn. You are ON TOP of it again. Let's check the video screen to make sure you were right...
Imo, to play Finley at WR downgrades the TE position, and it downgrades the WR position, so I do not expect to see much of it. They already had four TEs. The additional TE probably has to do with special teams. Hopefully.
They needed a slot WR. He has to be very quick and route sure. White has had months to learn it. Hope he was paying attention.

VS keeping him in at TE and having Lang play WR? Moving Finely makes sense unless Ted trades for a WR or Jones Reggie White's his knee.
I don't see Tyrone Walker on Seattle's roster or PS. Was he signed elsewhere? I sure liked him. Wish we'd give him a chance. Listen up, Ted!

Why did did they move White to the 53-man roster? To not use him?
White is very fast and he would not be there if he did not show them he has the potential to play WR in their system.
TT believes in next man up. Until further notice, it's White. if they had to play tonight, it would be White.
By game time, hopefully it will be Jones, Nelson, and Boykin.
Could be a smidge too tall to be effective at 6' 1"
I too am not buying the lots of Finley at WR talk being tossed around on Twitter. He will play wide some, just not as a replacement for Cobb.
Yeah, I would expect Finley to play about as much WR as he's playing now.
They're going to roll with Boykin and White. TT believes in the guys he's brought in. He'd rather promote from within than sign veteran FA's.
Starting LB's on Sunday could be Hawk, Lattimore, Neal and Mulumba.
Starting WR's could be Nelson, Boykin and White.
I'd like to see them start giving Brandon Bostick some more looks.
Hard to scout players that were not playing. I look for the new guys to do just fine.

Cleats with paper-thin soles (flatforms) should cut his intolerable 6' 1/2" oversize liability to a tolerable 6' 1/8".

It is time for Bostick... now or never IMO.
Here is Ted again. He will never sign or trade for a quality veteran backup.
Thanks for the love, I was beginning to miss the big lug.
That makes one of us.
Taylor apparently had knee surgery, so now TE and special teams get affected.
On the upside, Sherrod is practicing, so in 3 weeks he is either activated and will take Von Rotens spot (assuming Starks is back and Hill is gone) or on IR for the year.
With all the missing OLB, and the depth on defensive line, maybe we switch to a 4-3 defense for a couple of weeks....
And with all the injuries to the WRs we could switch to the wishbone too!
We do have 3 good RB's so yes! make them defend all three at the same time!! I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, MM would go to his vaunted "inverted wishbone" and give the ball to Kuhn up the middle.

The game of football at this level isn't nearly as simple as some people think it is. You will see guys like Mike Daniels or Datone Jones lining up at OLB before you'll see a scheme change.
I wouldn't be surprised if they give more of a 3-3 look vs. 2-4 in nickel with as much as they play it. They could essentially line Jones up as an OLB, just severely limit his drops.
