The game of football at this level isn't nearly as simple as some people think it is.  You will see guys like Mike Daniels or Datone Jones lining up at OLB before you'll see a scheme change.  

Disagree that it isn't simple.  It's a lot harder for a defensive lineman (Jones) to play a LB position than to remain as a defensive lineman.  (see Aaron Kampman)  A 4-3 simply takes advantage of our depth at d-line, and use our remaining LBs to fill the 3 positions. 

 

Look at a team like the Patriots, which due to injuries in 2011/12 used 3-4, 4-3, and other hybrid defenses in 2011 and 2012.  Nice article here discussing all:
