Daunt Culpepper is still in the league?

I call BS. You can never forget Fedya.
No matter how much you wish you could.
Hateful.

That sounds like an idea for a new thread,

Trolling Mr Keil.
Fedya gives it only a 2 eggplant rating.
McCarthy says Jason Spriggs is the primary backup at tackle if David Bakhtiari or Bryan Bulaga get hurt. He thinks Spriggs showed signs of improvement against the #Raiders. McCarthy also noted that Kyle Murphy is injured. Something to watch. #Packers

Breaking news:
McCarthy is going blind! (Or already is...)
Mike likes the tackle room
Watch the tape, Spriggs played much better this week at LT. Could be a result of who he was blocking, but it was better than the first two games.
If last week on a scale of 1-10 his suck was at a 23 and this week it was only at 11, then he may have improved, but it doesn't mean he doesn't suck.
Don't look now but our latest whipping boy is busting himself out of the doghouse.
From usa today:
Jason Spriggs started at left tackle and put together a terrific night, particularly in pass protection. He was rock solid on several third-down snaps and had a few punishing blocks in the run game. It was a performance that should lock him in as the Packersβ go-to swing tackle.
There is more about him here: 3 takeaways from usa today
You lost me at USA Today. Oh wait, they own everything now.
Christ, I hope he can do that against starters in a real game. That tackle depth is scary as hell.
I don't know who the hell they were watching, but it couldn't have been Spriggs.
I thought he held up really well.
I thought it was interesting that they gave Davis a lot at center, with Day playing RG. I would guess both guys are vying for backup C.
I did notice DK and Peter Boyle had cleaner pockets more often. I assumed it was a product of KC having poor pass rush depth.
Spriggs seems to be playing better. Perhaps the added weight and getting used to his brace and finally recovering from knee surgery helps. He was reported to have the athleticism coming out of college. Maybe time in the system and being at his natural position has helped as well.
Looked pretty good when I watched him but consistency will be the key. Entirely possible he could end up being a serviceable player.
Nobody has a problem with a RD6 or UDFA taking 3 years to amount to anything useful on the OL. Maybe in Spriggs case, he needed that time too.
Compared to a late round scrub I don't think anyone expects a 2nd round pick to be so atrocious out of the gate. I'm glad he's improving but we're talking about him improving enough to become a competent backup. I still don't see Spriggs as a starter by any means.

I get it, but this is true of every team.
It's the reason I wanted Gutenplenty to draft more fat boys
I already used that one.
Sometimes it takes longer for development but he's also had his share of injuries. He may be only starting to look like a competent backup but it's a huge plus that he is finally improving. Maybe he's finally on his way.
I already bitched about it in another thread. But the run game and run defense sucked. It used to be a strength so why the regression? Did this game finalize roster spots? If so, will we see a drop off in the above? Is this going to be a year of having to outscore in the air and depend on interceptions? Or is this just a sucky fourth game of the preseason?
can the Oline run block?

We may need a reference thread. I think I've doubled up on a couple.
That crossed my mind. Though it could take the fun out of it.
This move worth posting into a Spriggs thread.
Yep, you can most definitely call this a bust. Especially when Ted traded up for him
Not only was Spriggs was a second-round pick in 2016, then-Packers GM Ted Thompson traded up to take up him at No. 48 overall. Still, it was an otherwise strong draft with Kenny Clark, Kyler Fackrell, Blake Martinez, Dean Lowry and Trevor Davis. You can't hit on em all. https://t.co/SuVDluZILm

I think I can honestly remember 1 quarter where Jason played OK.
That is some horrible ass play at T when a guy doesn't even have one good to decent game.
Jason Spriggs released.

2017 Grade: -13.1
2018 Grade -5.7
Both in limited action. He was really one of the few left on the roster with a massively poor grade. He never lived up to his athletic profile & could never quite put it all together. Itβs Alex Lightβs time now.
If he was a 7th rounder instead of a 2nd, he'd have been cut years ago.
Good riddance
Ok then. Remarkable the dead weight Gutes has sloughed off of his team.

Lots of talk on draft day 2016 that that Packers leapfrogged the Bears (by trading multiple picks) to select Spriggs and forcing the Bears to "settle" for Whitehair.
Just a terribly disappointing outcome for second round pick on his rookie deal.
One thing is for sure, just like with 2015 second round pick Rollins last year, Gutey is not going to give under-performers unlimited time to produce like Teddy did.
Wonder if this might light a fire under 2017 second round pick Josh Jones?
It's either reclamation or hit the bricks. Part of a soft rebuild.
#Packers drop OT Jason Spriggs, 2016 2nd-round pick, after 3 unproductive seasons. This is what happens when teams reach in draft due to need. OT talent ran out quickly in 2016. Five taken in first 32 picks, Spriggs only one in next 43. All six taken in 2nd/3rd/4th rounds busted.

Gute seems impulsive to me. I wish he would take his time and put some thought into it. No one gets anywhere by being decisive.
