The side by side comparison of combine workouts between Dillon and Derrick Henry are incredibly similar which probably is what intrigued the Pack.

Maybe someone should play the actual gamefilm of a guy named Raheem Mostert running for about 34,031 yards against Green Bay and abusing the everlasting hell out of the LBs for 60 minutes.

Maybe that would also provide intriguing?

I like it...pundits may ding the team based on draft value, but Dillon will be a key part of the offense, most likely sooner rather than later...

No guarantee he would be there in the 3rd round...and by the way, by picking Dillon, we just stuck it to the Buccaneers, who surely would have taken him early in the 3rd, if not some other team. Imagine Dillon with Brady. Now, he's with Rodgers.

I actually like this pick too.  He has crazy lateral cuts and quickness for being 250 lbs.

Gotta think they watched Henry single handily drag the Titans thru the playoffs on his back last year and think this is the trend for RB's, especially with smaller hybrid players in defensive backfields now.

Plus, guys this size do not come around very often.

Next pick kinda has to be a tackle, so expect CB

You are not allowed to like any picks here.

So he drafts a poor-man's Marcus Mariota and and Derrick Henry to emulate Tennessee. BRILLIANT!

I don't like it. I get what he's going for, and I like Dillon well enough, but not at this pick. Even if someone else takes Dillon, Patrick Taylor Jr and others will be there later.

The most impressive thing athletically about Dillon is the 41 inch vertical!! Michael Jordan had a 42 .....so if we ever need someone to dunk the ball over the crossbar to celebrate a TD, or jump over a defender we have our guy!

Well, he ( Deguara)  plays next to a tackle.  Sometimes.

Crosby only has 3 years on his contract. They’re going to pick his replacement next and groom him over that time.

Yes, and it helps that the 9ers sucked for a long time and picked high in the draft for years.

Very valid point but you still have to draft the right players when you have all those high picks.(Browns, etc.) I hate SF but they did a heck of a job building that team over time. I started noticing what they were becoming when I watched them in an exhibition game last summer against the Raiders. All of their DB's, (Rooks, backups) were laying the wood and giving up no YAC at all. They looked like a tough, hard-nosed team that was focused and on a mission.

clearly the new coach wants to be known as a running team and "thunder and lightning" always sounds sexy in football.  Maybe running the wishbone will work, but I'm really not worried about having one of the most gifted passers in the game hand the ball off, defenses having to key in on the run really only helps AR and I don't mind if his attempts are down.

ESB, Lazard and MVS really need to step up though (probably 2 of the 3) because when the pass is called, they need to do more with the damn ball.

So, coach wants to emphasize running, so they get the thunder back and an H to block and be a safety valve.  Hope it helps coach do what coach wants to do.  I just seems like r2 and r3 were stretched (3 seems like a huge stretch).

Just saw on SI that GB converted only 32% of 3rd and short a year ago. I think that was the impetus for drafting Dillon. He’s a Brandon Jacobs/Derek Henry style bulldozer. We may not have gotten better in the pass game, but this critical area likely did get better.

Is this guy any relation to Corey Dillon? I'm guessing not or they would've said something on the broadcast.

This dude better be able to Pass Pro like a mofo too.

Really not happy with the Packers first 3 picks so I hope at least 2 of the 3 change my mind.

Third-and-ones might not be such nail-biters any more. However, it is a highlight film and for the most part, he had some pretty nice holes to run through. Guess we'll see whether he's a road-grader or a Tonka truck whenever they get back on the field.

I agree on the weight. When I first heard he was ~ 250, I thought he'd look something like Bettis. Pleasantly, he doesn't. I don't think he's as light and quick on his feet as the Bus, but he's not a slouch either. Dillon shows good hands with the flare routes, but there weren't a lot of different throws to him to be able to judge his overall catching ability or what type of routes he runs. On the other hand, Jones catches the screen, the crossing routes, and even goes down the field and has made some pretty darn tough catches. (And one or two memorable doinks.)

A lot of people think he's going to have short shelf life because of how he runs.  Anyone know about injury history?  He may be one of those guys that just defies the odds.  I hope so.  He definitely can break tackles.  Great balance too.

Could this pick signal a lot more of Jones split wide with Dillon being a single back?  Do defenses cover Jones with a DB or LB?  If it's a LB, it opens up the middle a bit to slam Dillon between the tackles.  If they cover Jones with a DB, bubble screen and let Jones defeat the likely smaller defender in the open field.
