Bet he thought Starr could have played better, too. IDOT.
Turdbuger making the most of his PT. Blocking was the concern with him coming out of school, so this is great to see. On that note, the way Graham has been blocking this year, I think our TE coach may be a keeper.
Showed the willingness to do it in college as well and the only thing he needed to do was improve at it.

Turdburger? Are you 11?
Why?
Because it instills fear in the opponents hearts and commands respect in the huddle.
Why do you care, are you a Boomer?
Announcing his presence with authoritah?

Even as a TE I think Jace is smaller than Jordy. Marcedes is the only guy with plus size as the position.
He's supposedly got like 35 lbs on Jordy but also an inch taller. He does need to add another 10-15 lbs of muscle to be more competitive blocking. Lewis has leaned out the last couple of years but he's still a huge man.
Ben Fennell - "Jace Sternberger is losing opportunities/snaps with what he's putting on tape... Absolutely horrible blocking/technique."
If he can't block and is not a part of the passing game (8 receptions for 86 yards this season) Sternberger is a threat to become the 2019 3rd round pick equivalent of Gutey's 2018 3rd round pick on defense Oren Burks.
There was a rumor that he was dangled as trade bait before the trade deadline because he's not in the teams long term plans. Makes sense considering his role seems to be basically nothing and for good reason. Kid should be Travis Kelce, instead he's basically a worse version of an elderly Jimmy Graham.
Player taken right after Sternberger: WR Terry McLaurin.
I have seen him a couple times (including last week) loafing it on Special Teams as well. I get this kid could be just frustrated with his playing time. But really doesn't bode well when on ST's you are half assing it as well.
Gute's picks in the 2nd-4th have significant reason to be concerned about his GM ability to draft and develop. It's also Josh Jackson, Monty Adams, etc

I was having a good day morning
I'm ready to move on from this guy, but at least we have Tonyan. And the way Gute screws up third and fourth round picks we probably saved ourselves future headaches when he traded away the fourth for Love...
Jesus christmas tree.
We need to play “Six degrees of Jordan Love”
I can blame World War I on him in 4 moves.
Go ahead, name that tune.
Jordan Love has a time machine. He's the driver for Archduke Ferdinand. Takes a wrong turn in his car with the bumper sticker "Serbs suck wank".
Bad decisions.

Many thought this would be his break out year. Never would have guessed he'd be our 4th best TE.
An indication just how far Jace has fallen: the team prefers the services of an undrafted rookie added late in the season, Dominique Dafney.
Just wait until Josiah Deguara is back in 2021, the Packers were really high on him (he blocked very well against MINN in week 1) before he went down with the ACL.
Assuming Deguara is here by the time TC opens, it might be hard for Sternburger to crack the 53.
Dafney definitely looks good enough as a receiver though he's not going to be busting any seams other than his uniform. Losing Bak, blocking skills take priority.
In his McAfee appearance yesterday Rodgers was practically gushing about how Duffner has been showing out in practice since he joined the team.
i just hope this pipeline of undrafted talant from Indiana State to Green Bay (after being waived by other team) continues over the coming years.
Apparently he was a walk on for two years at Iowa after one year at Iowa Western Community College. Never heard of the guy until two weeks ago.
If we in the Spectacular Owl then there will be room on the 53 for Jace because Lewis will retire. If not, then you have to try to entice Lewis to play another season with us. If he does, your TE room is:
Tonyan
Lewis
Degura
Dafney
Dafney has shown more in 2 or 3 weeks than Jace has in 2 years. You hate to walk away from 3rd round pick still on their rookie deal, but we have producers (Tonyan, Lewis, Dafney) and more potential (Degura) in front of him.
I suppose you could call Degura or Dafney a FB and still keep 4 TE's.

I'll bet they trade him in the offseason for a 5th round pick.

Crushed Patterson on the KO after his TD and he has a lot to offer on ST as well. As has been said, likely an uphill battle for Sternberger to make the final cut next year.

I could definitely see that happening. I don't think they'll walk away for another year yet. If Oren Burks is still on the team I don't think Sternberger will get cut. Degura was tagged as a FB/TE option and Dafney sure fits that bill as well. I hope to hell Lewis comes back. He is just a force on the line.
Texans give away draft picks like candy on Halloween.

If they can get that much for him Gutekunst is a fucking genius

Yeah I’ve never heard him talk about Sternberger the way he talked about Daffney.
TT clearly fucked up when he chose King over this guy. The difference between TT’s first 7 years where he drafted BPA and his final 5 when he drafted for need.
If your comparing King to Sternberger, you are talking 2 different drafts. King in 2017 and Sternberger in 2019.
Be that as it may, Sternberger is now suspended for the first 2 games for violating the substance abuse policy. He can add that to his many woes. If Gutekunst can get anything in a trade, he should take it.
Gute has had some excellent draft picks.
Taking Jace Sternberger 1 pick before Washington football team WR Terry McLaurin in round 3 of the 2019 draft was not one of them.
Amazing what one change in player selection might have led to ... or not led to.
Team's investment in him is probably the only thing helping him cling to a roster spot.
Suspension aside, you have to give players time to develop. Hell, many people had Gary written off almost immediately and he’s going to be an all pro one say if he keeps his health.
People wrote off Adams as well, he was supposedly not going to make it out of training camp. Jaire was referred to as Ahmad Carroll. Rodgers was called injury prone. Jordy had problems with drops. Not saying Stern is in the same camp as these guys, but yeah players develop and improve. Things can click with some guys and they finally realize their potential.
