But if for some reason (Patriot Center Bryan)Stork hadn't wound up in New England, Bill Belichick explained in a conference call on Tuesday, it may have been Corey Linsley who was headed to Foxboro. Instead, Linsley landed with the Packers and is a key cog in the league's second-highest scoring offense. He has started all 11 Packers games to this point in the season.

"Linsley is a guy we were all over too out of Ohio State," Belichick said. "Obviously after we took Stork there in the fourth round, we weren't really planning on coming right back and taking another guy at the same position. But he was a guy that we spent a lot of time on and had a lot of interest in, too.

"He's done a good job for the Packers. Started all year, playing behind two very experienced players at guard, similar to Bryan's situation here."

Rookie C of their own

The Patriots and Packers enter Sunday as the NFL’s two highest-scoring offenses. And they’re both doing it with rookies at center.

New England’s line has stabilized since the beginning of the season, in part because of the consistent play of rookie center Bryan Stork â€” a fourth-round pick out of Florida State. The Packers have enjoyed the same kind of consistency out of their fifth-round pick, center Corey Linsley of Ohio State.

“Linsley is a guy that we were all over, too, at Ohio State,” coach Bill Belichick said on Tuesday. “Obviously after we took Stork there in the fourth round, we weren’t really planning on coming right back and taking another guy at the same position, but he was a guy that we spent a lot of time on and had a lot of interest in too. He’s done a good job for the Packers; started all year and playing behind two very experienced players at guard, similar to Bryan’s situation here.

I love the sentence about this being the second year in a row a rookie became a starter the entire season.  If Uncle Ted can't find another rookie OL to break through and start the entire season a third year he will finally verify in fact he is a BUST.

It is the second straight year a rookie starter on the offensive line has led the Packers in performance-based pay. In 2013, left tackle David Bakhtiari, a fourth-round pick, earned $256,882 in a bonus payment. He played in 99.7% of the snaps in 2013.

He must have been talking about Solari. Or maybe he just doesn't know better!

Is Cogbot the only coach?  Is he even a coach?

He's so good he sprouted a Solari.

Thanks for bumping.  I was curious about Linsley's initial draft report, thinking it mentioned something about him NOT being a fit at guard.  But didn't see anything, so maybe he can do it.  He's guaranteed a spot on the team (as long as he's not on IR) but sure would be nice to have more versatility on the inside.  Having a backup center that can't do anything else is pretty limiting.
