KR and PR isn't just about speed.  It's about vision and shiftiness.  I don't know that Janis has either of those.  Desmond Howard wasn't a burner and Hyde certainly isn't but he did pretty well at PR last year.

I rather see Janis handle KR duties than PRs.  I gotta think (not fer sure) there's less wiggle and more time for vision on a KRs.  In anycase, right now when it comes to PRs and KRs, all I want are smart decisions and no turn-overs.

I think Adams and Abby will eventually be better than Janis and Janis will have to battle Boykin for a spot. I think Janis wins that battle.

I think Cobb is going to blow everyone's mind this year too.

If Janis is our #4 or 5, then I'd be happy if he returns punts and kickoffs this year. It's better than exposing Harris or Hyde since they're closer to starting than is Janis. Adams could step in as #4 WR, if needed, and my guess is at least one or more of the others (Gillette? White? Harper?) is going to the PS and would be ready if needed. Plus, I like the way Janis waited, saw a lane, and then hit the afterburners on the kickoff. It showed patience and vision, and he has the speed to outrun guys.

This is ridiculous. We should be lamenting the recent losses of Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and James Jones...three very good receivers. This should decimate a team. Instead we are discussing who is the fifth best receiver on a team with an embarrassment of riches. Ted Thompson you are an ass, or at least you make other GM 's look like one.

Loaded.

Then again it's hard to judge Janis against Adams on punt returns. Adams never really got past the "catching the ball" part of punt returns. And that really is the most important part of punt returns, the catching.

Seriously, drafting this guy was huge!  His upside could be freakish and to me is much higher than Adams' or Jared's - and I am a big fan of Jared's, and Adams will be a great receiver as well.  I admit, in terms of football knowledge, I cannot hang with many of you, but I have to question the logic that Adams or Jared has a higher ceiling.  As I see it, they both should have come into camp playing at a higher level than Janis, who is "raw" and had miss a good deal of the preseason.   Yeah, my comment may be unfair regarding Jared due to his injury, but I think Jared's career, if he has one, will be plagued with injuries - I HOPE THAT I AM WRONG THERE! Anyway, I think, even this season, Janis will be a force to be reckoned with.  Just fantasize this future line up: Jordy, Cobb, Richard Rodgers, Lacy, and Janis ... OH Fk'n A!!!!

Easy there, grasshopper. Pace yourself. Kickoff isn't for another five days...

And since Janis is a rookie in one of the most sophisticated offenses in the league, don't be surprised if he doesn't see the field much for quite awhile.
