They reported weeks ago that Favre has already assured the Packers that he's coming back. And in turn, the Packers assured the league - thus getting the Packers three prime time games. So I guess this is all much to do about nothing.

This is an excellent point. While nobody here knows the complete dynamic behind the scenes between these two, it's probably safe to assume that neither player has done nearly as much as they can to develop the best working relationship they can. I'm hardly a fan of Walker's (and his posse's) antics. But anything Favre has called Walker out for in the past pales in comparison to T.O.'s standard operating procedure. For Favre to talk wistfully about wishing they could have signed T.O. is sickening and makes me just that much less interested in having him back for one more season.

Unless Favre wants to commit to two years and be involved in a short re-building run, that could very well include a legitimate title run in 2007, I'd just as soon he retire.

Whatever guys...make fun. I was talking to my brother about something completely unrelated when someone called him on another line with the news. He told me obviously not knowing that I was gonna post it on some packer website that he has no knowledge of. I simply stated his credentials because he's not some avg. joe like me for example. He makes a ton of money thru the gathering of information and he has many sources and talks to many influential people all day long. let's see if there isn't an announcement sometime later today.

He's well connected, so then who told him? Don't tell us you didn't ask.

Actually that was me on the other line with his brother. I knew he'd fall for it hook, line, and sinker.

What does that prove? It could be about the draft. Is Favre holding a press conference?
Favre may call an impromptu one this weekend and TT's will be after to pick-up the pieces - very interesting!! I'm starting sense a conversion factor from the masses here.

I'll be saying "I told you so" about the people saying "I told you so."

I'll be saying, "God I'm glad this crap is over. Anybody wanna watch the Green Bay Packers"?

I'm expecting a bevy of people to fall of the Packer bandwagon as soon as Favre retires.

I'd love to see TT wrap up after questions by saying, "If you don't have any other questions, that'll be it. Oh, and by the way, Brett's retiring." And then he just walks away from the podium and lets the media frenzy commence...

That would be excellent in so many different ways. Most of Packer fandom would have a rod up their prospective asses for years. I can smell the meltdowns on the board already. Smells like . . . idiocy.

That or you're going to nominate yourself for board jokes for awhile.

Henry,exactly.

Even if Favre plays another year he'll say he called it last year.

For speculating on something that has been in the realm of possibility for a few months now?

If they start winning again, Favre's absence won't effect the bandwagon.

That may take a couple of years. I fully expect those people to have moved on after the half way point of this season. Of course, not before they bellyache endlessly about how Favre was screwed by TT and how TT forced him to retire.

With that last thought, this crap won't end for another year at least.

Favre will have a long shelf-life because he's joined the ranks of Packer legends. I remember when guys like Starr and Nitschke were at the end/retired. There were some strong feelings at that time and there will be again with Favre when that day comes.
