Why not pinch hit Mitchell for Ortiz?  Mitchell has some power and showed it last night.

Not only does he have some pop, he gets on base. His .342 OBP would have been 15th in the National League if he had enough plate appearances. He has much better plate discipline, and good speed.

And down two going into the bottom of the ninth in a do or die situation, it’s base runners that you need.

Devin is certainly capable of a meltdown in any inning but I just think he’s maybe better in a do or die situation as a setup man and not a closer.  His stats are great as a closer, but I feel like he very rarely gets through an inning completely clean. Mistakes he can get away with in a regular season game with less on the line can really come back to bite you in playoff baseball against stronger teams fighting for their lives.

I want a fireballer like McGill as a closer.  And maybe McGill isn’t the guy, but someone that throws controlled gas is preferable to Williams’ gimmicky stuff in highest leverage situations.
