Tough to cut a 1st round pick but I guess they know he's probably not going to get any better. Swing and a miss by TT but it happens and the injury was probably a big factor.   I assume TT tried to trade him and surprised some team wouldn't give up a 7th for him.  I'd like to see official confirmation on this.

So that's a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick(Jerel Worthy) from just the last few years that they've released after getting zero production. Ouch

Edit: Well, Worthy wasn't technically released but he pretty much was. Trade to NE only would have netted them a late round pick if he made the team, which he did not.

Randall Cobb, Davon House and really not much else from that draft.  Granted, Cobb is damn good and House is a solid corner, and Wolf always said you want two starters out of your draft.  Cobb is a starter and House would be on a lot of other teams.  Still, other than those two, Ryan Taylor and Lawrence Guy are filling out the bottoms of rosters and no one else is even in the league anymore.

Not exactly the horrendous disaster of the 2004 draft, but perhaps TT's worst overall.  I know he was picking 32nd, but that's still crappy.

2014 draft is looking like one of TT's best based on early returns, and 2013 looks to be pretty decent as well. That's a relief, because 2011 and 2012 are shaping up to be two of his worst drafts.

Wait a God damn minute...  Did TT check with the X4 jeanyouses before dumping this dumdum?  I was told 1st round OT's have elite footwork, elite measurables, etc....  Why do I feel like the season's over?

Really?  Perry, Hayward and Daniels?  I know REAL Packer fans are supposed to set themselves on fire over how terrible Perry is, but he's actually turning into a good player despite the drooling on keyboards everywhere.  Hayward and Daniels are damn good.

IMHO that's a pretty good haul even if everyone else was a washout.

That was the year TT was trading down to acquire more picks because of the lockout and the uncertain UFA status. The more numbers you have, the more chances you have swinging (or missing). By the same accord, his first two drafts weren't so hot either.

It happens. The last two drafts have been very good, and he got a lot of longevity out of 2010. TT is still a geenyus.

Its not over yet  !  Nothing is over till we decide it is ! He'll be back ! Its just a temporary setback. He was framed !  Give him a chance ! The sun was in my eyes ! Its not his fault !

He did, unfortunately, that's past tense.

And PackFoo was smart enough to note that few if any come back from such a devastating injury and still remain elite. Clearly I was wrong

Sherrod was clearly the worst player in the position group, it just leaves us really thin at T.  I'm not sold that Tretter could step in at T and do a capable job THIS season.   I still think if Lang is healthy, he needs to be the 3rd Tackle in order to get your best 5 on the field.

If Lang can't come back this week, who starts at RG?   You have 3 options now:  One, start Taylor.  Two, start Tretter.  Three, start Linzley at Guard and Tretter at C.

I was thinking along the same lines; that we will probably see him in Seattle or Arizona in 2-3-4 years.

Of course, that leads to the question of, "What?...No 'Vikings will pick him up' comments yet"?

Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of ****. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.

I still miss that guy.

Sherrod has looked horrible this season, but this still is surprising considering their depth at tackle right now. I'd like to see Tretter regain his starting spot because he looked pretty damn good when he was in there. Yes, Linsley has been serviceable, but Tretter definitely is better.

I wonder if Sherrod suffered the same kind of injury riddled slump that killed Justin Harrell's career. I remember Justin Harrell at Tennessee, he was a good player and a highly motivated player. He was a team leader who played through injuries and seemed to really have the right attitude. I think the constant injuries just sucked the motivation out of him and he turned into a turd who was just there to collect a paycheck. I'm not calling Sherrod a turd, but I don't see a reason why his once promising career seemed to just die because of a broken leg (a gruesome broken leg albeit). We've seen players rebound after gruesome injuries before, was his injury THAT bad that 1.5 years of rehab caused him to obviously lose a tremendous amount of athleticism and strength? I have a layman's understanding of injuries like his, could a broken leg really rob him of the skill that he showed in college and for the Packers? If it could then I really feel for the guy. Part of me feels like, again based on my limited knowledge of what these injuries can do, that he lost his mental edge like Justin Harrell and that's ultimately what doomed him. These guys have to be mentally strong to overcome injuries and get themselves back into shape.

Definitely? Tretter's never even taken a regular season snap.

We'll never know, but I saw no evidence prior to Sherrod's injury that he could play at the NFL level and was a good TT pick.

Lets see.  They replace a black injury prone guy with a white injury prone guy. Hummm.

(Reply from Blair Kiel in about six, five, four, .......)

Seriously, I think he lost his lateral quickness and mobility.  Makes me think that when his leg was broken there was more that also broke either in or around the ankles or knees and the whole story wasn't told.  He is also noticeably heavier than the pre-injured Sherrod.  I wondered if the added weight also affected him.
