Had Rodgers played better and the OL didn't do the Marshall Newhouse impression it did, GB would have had a better shot at the win.

 

Bend don't break D of Capers is a load of horse schit. Maybe getting Shields/Q back will help some.

 

Plus side? Randall is going to be a really good player.

Put up the good fight and made it interesting.

Defense gave up 37 and would have been much more were not for missed throws by Newton.

+ Went into this 2 game road trip against undefeated teams in first and are going home in first. What more could we ask for?

 

 

2nd straight week vs a playoff team where the team looked completely and thoroughly overmatched on both sides of the ball. It wasn't until they were down 23 and players were getting chippy with each other on the sideline that things changed. Saw more quick passes, some damn SCREENS.....finally gaining some traction on the offensive end but it proved to be too little too late

 

This team is looking more like a pretender, sad to say. Looking similar to those soft Falcons teams over the years that nobody took seriously.

What was up with that?  It was a lot more than once or twice. 

Hopefully Jake Ryan can bring something to the table.

 

Defense gets better when Shields comes back. I don't know how much better, but definitely better.

Lots of bad **** happened, all of it obvious.  I will focus on one thing.

 

Why the hell do we either get flagged or burn through time out game after game because we cannot snap the ball in time?  Is there a way to figure out how many times this has happened (and in comparison to other teams?).  Those time out would have been valuable (again) but we cannot get the snap off.  And tell me why they weren't moving a little fast early in the fourth quarter?  You are down a pile, if you really think you have a chance of coming back, you start to get really snappy on offense.  I expect this offense to at the very least, manage the clock.  

 

And we need to start calling more of those plays that result in touchdowns.  

Something thing to build on: the Dfense gave the Ofense the ball back with a chance to tie and force overtime.  There was fire on the sidelines from the players.  Media will have lots of questions about it but much ado about nothing...players got frustrated.

 

Negatives, in order of importance to address.

1. The Oline, oh boy were to start....the pressure I guess is a good place my goodness they have never been a great run blocking team but I least the pass blocking was serviceable.  Side note, yes Linsley really struggled with the shot gun snaps today.

 

2. The D line, were did all that pressure go? Did think the run defense did do a decent enough job.

 

3. Lacey, Im still chalking it up to bad blocking and a bum ankle enough with the too heavy crap.

 

4. AR12....yep he has been off target, while not Newton off target he's is off.  There were a couple to Cobb that could have been BIG but didn't hit him instride like on the wheel route (that was a thing of beauty).  Also are the defenses really confusing him that much that we can't snap it with 2-3 seconds left on the play clock instead of looking so dam rushed.

 

5. The secondary, not too worried here actually with exception of HaHa.  Rookie Randall is learning on the job got to take some lumps here but I think a healthy Sheilds, Rollins and Randall will be a great group.

 

Not mentioning LBs or TEs as this has been a problem all year and will not be addressed until draft next year.

and what's up with that fighting on the sidelines??  That's never a good thing.  

I blame Manny Parra on that one

I was on pins and needles waiting to find out where Rodney's vote of confidence was with out coordinators.

The negative is the same one that we have seen the last 3 weeks: losing the LOS. It's not more complicated than that. Everything falls apart if you aren't getting pressure/stopping the run and you aren't stifling pressure/opening running lanes. You can say it's scheme or poor DB play or QB play or whatever, but the difference in these games was Rivers/Manning/Newton had time and clean pockets and Rodgers didn't. I said the same thing last week: pass rushers and Tackles make the 2nd most on the team because they are the 2nd most important.

I was kind of hoping that would have been addressed at this year's draft. How many of us were expecting an ILB to be drafted with our first choice?

Positives: Starks, Randall, Perry.

Negatives: Every douche bag on our DL and OL. None of these players are showing up to perform. Not one of them.

not mad that we're 6-2. not mad that, despite our struggles, we're still much more successful that most other NFL franchises. not even mad we lost to the Panthers.

 

I am mad that this week was basically a mirror image of last week. There was no improvement; nothing changed. It's the same **** week in, week out. Very frustrating.

We saw some change. After getting thoroughly beat down for 3.5 quarters, the offense finally changed things up and viola....started to have success. I hope the screen game is here to stay. Took them long enough to freakin use it after Rodgers kept getting crushed by the Panthers pass rush

Don't know if this has been posted but during the fourth quarter JSO reported that Eddie Lacy sustained a groin injury which took him out of commission for the rest of the game.  Haven't seen more.

 

Here's hoping --

1) It's not that serious

2) They sit Eddie next week and let him get right physically for the stretch run

3) Get Alonzo Harris ready to spell Starks next week and get him more game reps

Once the defense was more disciplined on the line of scrimmage, the defense played better.  Pinning their ear back against Newton is a mistake.  Make him throw the ball.  No excuses for the ****ty scheme and play against Manning and Rivers, but containing Newton is more important than pressuring him.
