Set the politicians aside for a second. Take a look at the way two nearly identical stories played out in the press:

Roseanne Barr, Trump supporter, unstable, racist past- tweets a vile comment about a black person... loses everything she was getting back. [edit] And an entire conservative culture gets vilified as if they’re in agreement.

Samantha Bee- calls the daughter of the President of the United States a “feckless ****” in a scripted monologue on national TV- and loses nothing, gets defended by the mainstream press.

It’s the culture- not the politicians- that needs to change. Politicians are not the drivers of culture- they’re the result of it. Watch last year’s Munk debate on “Political Correctness”. Tells a very interesting story...

Upon reflection I agree, all vile comments should be treated the same.  I wonder why Billy Bush lost his job for snickering at a vile comment and the vile  commenter not only got elected but still holds the office.

It’s fair game to call BS on Ivanka for her TMs while her father saves a Chinese telecom from insolvency. Everything about all of this stinks. All of it.

But Bee should be shown the door. It’s really important that limits are set while everyone tries to talk things back to neutral.

Do you really wonder why? Really? I could go tit for tat with you from the Democrat Party. But that’s not the goddamn point is it?

It... is... the... culture. That’s what elected Trump (though probably not what you think). It was because there is a large percentage of the population sick of it all. Again, politicians are the reaction, not the cause.

And if there’s any hope, guys like Sterling Brown can be that beacon. He truly has a choice- and an amazing opportunity- I hope he makes what I believe to be the right choice.

Apples and oranges? No... the same thing. One vile comment = another.

The narrative? Very different... only a bias would prevent you from seeing that.

Only the lack of a brain.

I think the Samantha Bee comment was totally inappropriate and she probably should have been fired.  Honestly, I didn’t even know who she was so maybe that’s the issue.

The Roseanne move was a no brainer just like Kathy Griffin move was a no brainer.  They both crossed the line big time.  I do wonder though how DT can support someone that disrespected the flag and national anthem.   Roseanne mocking the anthem and grabbing her crotch at the Padres game seemed offensive to me but what do I know?  I guess NFL players kneeling or not participating is worse.

I agree on the civil war considering Obama was a moderate, but the right has moved so far right he looks like a Communist.

President Obama was a moderate?    I just had never heard that before, YA.    Agree to Disagree I guess.

IMHO:  he was/is a far left liberal who drastically has taken the Democratic Party too far to the left.  A party now that has a hard time to be taken seriously in many policy positions.  That doesn't mean the Republican Party is any better as they have too any factions fighting for power now.

Give the Democratic Party some credit:  they stick together on their issues.  Very rarely will you see a Democrat cross-over during key votes on issues.

Dems HARDLY stick together. It is the Republicans who deserve props for not straying from the party line (Clinton tax increase of 5% back in 1993, Obamacare vote). And his constant reaching out to Republican leadership to be spurned and ridiculed didn't sit well with liberals. But if you listen to Fox and Breitbart, I can see why anyone would think he's the anti-Christ.

Come on, YA....don't deceive us with that link:  "President Obama thought he was a moderate."   Of course he did.  But no one else does.  He's a far left liberal progressive who wanted to "fundamentally transform America".   That is why Trump won.

BTW....everyone knows the Democrat position is to try and denigrate anyone who listens to the Fox News Channel.   It's not working anymore.   America knows what is going on with the dishonest media now.

FYI....I do listen to Fox because I want to make sure I get ALL the news:   Not just the news that promotes the Democratic platform.   People that only watch the alphabets -CNN-or Post or Times -  still don't know about Gruber's admission of deceit or President Obama's relationship with Farrakan and the Nation of Islam or. ???.   Thank God for Fox News (I'm talking about their NEWS programs...not the opinion shows).  Liberals should watch Shep Smith.  He's a lib, but at least you will still get ALL the news.  Why do you think Fox News is so popular across America?   Why do you think Trump keeps on thumping the Fake News media at his rallies?   Americans are waking up.

BTW...I also read articles from the NY Times and Washington Post and Time Magazine.   So I see the biased reporting in their normal news stories.

This is a big part of the Civil War that is going on in America now:   There are double standards and bias in the way news is reported is dividing this country.  The media can change that.

Goldie:   that is what the alphabets-CNN-Post-Times mainstream want you to believe so you don't become well-informed on the issues.

Pikes:   When I have time, I like to get my news from Cavuto; Baier; and Smith....Happening Now, America's Newsroom/Headquarters and The Daily Briefing.   I don't see any bias on these NEWS programs.  At least I do know I get ALL the news and then from that I can form my OWN opinion.   Also, there are shows like Fox Report and Journal Report.

I think this is why non-Fox News watchers are so shocked:   they finally get ALL the news and because their Democrat TV programs don't give them that, they think anything else is just made-up or "faux".  Then, they get upset because they didn't get ALL the news - so they take it out on the rest of us for being more informed on the issue.   Most Fox News watchers do indeed feel sorry for them.

Now, on the OPINION shows on the Fox News Channels:   of course there is a lean to common sense and rational thought.........that is what you would expect from an "opinion" show.  But at least I will get the Democratic talking points on MediaBuzz; The Five and Tucker Carlson.   I don't watch Hannity nor Fox News Sunday.

I get my unbiased   FOX news daily at my gym, Fox and Friends.  Some Cavuto on Saturday morning and the Sunday morning show.  CSPAN every morning at my house and I try and catch Nicolle Wallace in the afternoon for a bit of talking heads.....I especially like when she has Steve Schmidt on for some RINO perspective.  Oh, I also watch Smerconish on CNN, his opinion show IMO is all over the map

My 401K tripled from the previous 8 years until now.

I'm good with the previous 8 & happy to be wrong about the last 2 years.

It ain't over yet. Just saw on Friday interest rates might go back up

How do you explain:

As Disney/ABC Fires Roseanne for Racism, They Have No Problem Hiring CONVICTED Pedophiles

As Disney-ABC Fires Roseanne for Racism, They Have No Problem Hiring Convicted Pedophiles

The cancellation of the series “Roseanne,” and the public firing of Roseanne Barr have created a media firestorm, and while ABC was publicly responsible, the network is owned by Disney, and the decision was ultimately made by Disney CEO Bob Iger.

However, the quick decision made by Disney with the claim that it would not tolerate “racist” comments, makes many wonder why the company, which built its empire on entertaining children and families, thought it fitting to fire Barr over her controversial Tweets, at the same time that it seems indifferent to hiring pedophiles and sexual predators to work inside the family-friendly organization.

Both Brian Peck and Victor Salva were convicted of several sex crimes against children—yet went on, after their convictions, to enjoy lucrative careers within Disney’s corporation. Peck, who starred in X-Men and in all three Living Dead films, served 16 months in prison and he still works with children on Disney film projects. According to court documents reported by the Daily Mail, detailing Peck’s crimes against a child actor known as “John Doe” to protect his identity:

The documents show Peck was originally charged with 11 counts including: lewd act upon a child; sodomy of a person under 16; attempted sodomy of a person under 16; sexual penetration by foreign object; four counts of oral copulation of a person under 16; oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance; sending harmful matter; and using a minor for sex acts.

Salva also sexually abused children and continues to enjoy the good graces Disney offers, all the while Disney is now portraying itself as taking the moral high road in firing a comedian over a series of controversial tweets. Salva directed the Jeepers Creepers films. According to a report from Celebrity Insider, which exposed the corporate hypocrisy:

“In 1988, the child actor from the movie Clownhouse Nathan Forrest Winters told his mother at the end of filming that the director Victor Salva had been molesting him for approximately five years. Salva was found guilty on five of the 11 original counts after he confessed to the sexual abuse and video recordings of him abusing Nathan Winters were found in his home. Police also found videotapes and magazines featuring child pornography as well.”

Salva’s conviction as a pedophile sexual abuser was not enough, apparently, to keep him from being employed by Disney.
[end of excerpt]

ABC/Disney does not give a rat's ass with respect to any moral outrage over Barr's tweet.

Unless, of course, it considers a racist text to be a more insidious act than sodomizing children.

Did any of the news outlets you referred to (that you describe as giving you ALL the news) give you all the news?

Think Fox, CNN, etc. don't know Disney has convicted pedophiles on their payroll?  Or it just isn't newsworthy?

THEY DON'T CARE!!!

I have no opinion on whether or not Disney employs pedophiles. I don’t work for them. It’s their business.  If they want to assume that level of risk than so be it. Sooner or later they will pay the price.

Just like the Fox organization enabling a bunch of perverts and deviants like Ailes and O Reilly.

As for retirement savings, you might want to check your data.  My accounts did very well dating back several years until about mid 2017. Since then I’ve taken a beating.   Trump’s trade policies are idiotic and that’s being kind.

Yes.  EVERY network had enabled perverts.  Some were proactive and ahead of their time and got rid of them BEFORE the #MeToo  Other networks kept them working.  double standard ?

BRW....don't invest in Facebook anymore, Tschmack....and stop doing your own investing and you'll see your portfolio increase!!

Yeah, we’ve gone pretty far off the rails here. Ok, everyone here is a Democrat who hates Republicans or a rational human being who doesn’t align with parties and instead has their own views. Great.

Sterling Brown was tazed by an MPD cop. Two things are true- Sterling Brown should have parked his car in a legal parking spot, and the cops used excessive force on an unarmed citizen.

The why here is what really causes the debate, but it does broaden to the heart of discourse today. Racism? Suspicion? Poor decision making? I don’t think whether you watch MSNBC or Fox News should really be part of the discussion. Some folks watch one or both, others neither. What is relevant is whether you’re capable of being reasonable about what’s right or wrong, or if your going to use partisan parlor tricks to discredit people you don’t even know and ultimately derail the discussion.

To me, that’s what wrong with the discussion of these topics on x4.

I really don't understand what happened. People used to be generally kind to each other. Now everything is me me me & how can I use you to get me rich.

It's disgusting.

Police brutality has been around a long time folks.   It ran rampant in the LAPD in the early 90s when I lived in So Cal but there’s a 50 year “tradition” out there.  And yes, a lot of it is has racial and social undertones or overtones depending on how you look at it.

Brown should have been ticketed and it should have been a 15 minute process.  That’s it.  But it didn’t.  And it happens all the time.  It’s not some new phenomenon. What is new is the ability to capture these events on smartphones or body cameras.

I agree with MC it would be great if both Brown and the MPD could use this as a learning opportunity and turn a wrong into a right but given our current social and political climate I have my doubts.

All three major market indices are up double-digits over the last calendar year. The NASDAQ is up almost 20% the last calendar year. If your Investments aren't making money, you're doing it wrong.

Fox is full of lies. I watched an hour of it before the last election and finally understood all the Hillary and Obama hatred. Slanted garbage. His relationship with Farrakhan? What a joke. Look it up: for a liberal he did a horrible job--growth in federal spending while he was president was the lowest since Eisenhower.

Who is a Republican? I left that off because don’t see anyone here that has said “I’m a Republican and I think...”

Today’s conservative isn't Republican anymore... they’re Libertarian. A current description is “Classical Liberal” which is interesting- mostly interesting to me in that Liberalism and leftism seem to be splitting away from each other. Broadens out to a much wider conversation there...

Yea, I dont get that. I am conservative by most standards and while I see the slanting of opinion to the right on Fox, it is nowhere comparable to the slanting of the news and hypocrisy of the news that is spewed every day by the MSM and most egrigiously by CNN. Tucker at least allows the left to argue their point even though a lot of his guest are full fledged hypocrites. At least MSNBC comes out and says they hate the president and will spend all of their assets to destroy him while CNN comes out as the medium between Fox and MSNBC. CNN is to the left of MSNBC if that is even possible.

As far as Obamas relationship with Farrakhan, if it was such a joke why did he and his people go to great leangths to bury the relationship.

As a conservative, I at least gave Obama a full term before I turned on him. Trump did not even get in office before the resistance was in full effect.

The Russia thing was just a bag of nothing as far as collusion with Trump but the nation has spend a damn year wasting money and resources chasing something that never existed.

The whole government pissing contest is embarrasing.

Bag of nothing?  Are you serious?   I can’t stand Crooked Hillary but when it’s all said and done Donald Trump might be the most corrupt and unethical POTUS ever. The guy is dirty and he and his family have sold their souls to the devil (overseas financing- see Russian mobsters) because no one in their right mind would back him financially in this country.

I hate the MSNBC and Fox News tit for tat bull**** but that’s where we are.  Quite honestly, if you follow either organization that’s not objective.   They both have their agendas.

Is it too much to ask for moderate politicians?
