Locals are setting off fireworks around here. Good for them. Now we have to hear that Tampa is ChampaBay. It was a pretty good run. Hockey champions, Baseball runner ups. and Football champions.

final tally, via @ESPNStatsInfo:

Mahomes was pressured on 29/56 dropbacks--the most of any QB in Super Bowl history.

Brady was pressured on 4/30--the lowest of his SB career.

And it wasn't like the pressures were from one guy forcing him to step up in the pocket or roll to one side of the field. It seemed like every time it was a jailbreak with 2 or 3 guys coming at him before he had time to even get beyond his first read.

Patrick Mahomes is Tiger Woods.

Tom Brady is Jack Nicklaus.

Actually, Tiger Woods and Tom Brady are the guys in the tabloids and Nicklaus and Mahomes (so far) seem to stay pretty quiet and focus on their sport.

I keep going back to the Arians/GB thing.  When GB was looking for a coach, Arians made some comment about never wanting to coach in GB or something  to that effect.  I wonder what his deal was with that.  Was it the power structure, cold weather, something else?  Seems to have picked the right job.

Pressure... the great equalizer. Speed... the skill that can’t be taught. The Packers have the front pieces... and much the way Tampa took a chance on two guys no one was clambering for (JPP and Suh), the Packers must do the same. Seize the opportunity by bringing difference makers on the roster.

Maybe his ego couldn't handle it feeling like a moron every day he worked with Rodgers.

Man o man....what a horrific game. Worst Super Bowl in memory

SB 53 Pats v Rams 13 to 3 was a dud. "Defensive struggle" but I don"t remember so many self inflicted wounds like KC had in 1st half.

Does this finally prove defense wins championships? Shutting down Green Bay and K.C. in 2 weeks is pretty good and has nothing to do with Brady.

All three of the Buc playoff wins were about their defense.

Just like the NFC championship game.

Front pieces? I'm not sure. Clark was our only guy who showed up vs. TB. The Smith's didn't get much pressure at all. We aren't close to TB, who can win almost every matchup with Vea, Suh, JPP, & Barrett.

I guess I meant Mahomes is going to be chasing Brady’s “majors” number for a long time to no avail.

TB certainly was set up to win this year and adding Brady put them over the top.  It helps when your starting QB isn’t throwing 30 picks (Winston).

Something to keep in mind is they have a bunch of players coming up for free agency.  Shaq Barrett, Lavonte David, Ndamukong Suh, Chris Godwin, Gronk are all set to hit the open market.  After next year, basically all of their OL except Wirfs is up along with JPP and Gholston and Vea and obviously Brady.

I’m sure they will make an effort to bring some of those guys back but Barrett, Godwin, and David made a lot of money with their Super Bowl run and like every title winner they will lose guys either due to choice or the cap.  That’s why you don’t see repeat winners in the NFL very often and like SF this year I would not assume TB will just run it back in 2021.

The Packers got plenty of pressure on Brady. Clark played his best football in the playoffs, and Gary was disruptive. Smiths got in there too. They only ran for 76 yards in the game. The Packers had 5 TFLs and 4 QB hits.

A blown assignment and a gift wrapped TD off a turnover on consecutive possessions was the difference in the game.

And this is where you roll the dice. You make a deal or you take a chance on a guy. The Bucs traded for JPP, signed Shaq Barrett to a multi year deal, and signed Suh to a 1 year deal. None of these moves made a lot of “Oh shit, the Bucs defense is for real” headlines. Barrett had 14 sacks in his career before 2019. JPP was a guy no one cared about when Tampa traded for him in 2018.

The Packers have an opportunity to add a hungry, veteran player to their DL. He’s coming off a 16 game season after injuries shortened recent seasons. He finished the season healthy.  They have trade pieces to get it done.

JJ Watt is a very getable asset this offseason. His contract is 17 million and it might cost a 2nd or 3rd round pick to get him. However, I'd rather roll the dice on him this year than wait another couple of years for one of their draft picks to put them over the top and who may never pan out. They drafted for the future in 2020. Now let's make more of an effort to get over the hump this offseason.

My guess is the Packers would never make the type of move the Bucs made for Pierre-Paul. The Bucs traded a 3rd round pick for JPP in 2018 when he was a 29 year old guy coming off a 16 game season after having missed 13 games the previous 2 years due to injury. He was younger than JJ Watt but never as good.

We're more likely to hold onto that 3rd round pick and use it to see if we can hit on a 22-year old that can elevate the team on a cheap contract for the next 5 years than take a risk. That's why the Packers are who they have been for the last 10 years. A perennial contender without another Super Bowl appearance.

Over the last 10 years the Packers are 105-53-2 with a 7-8 record in the playoffs and no Super Bowl appearances.

The only team with a better regular-season record in the last 10 years is New England (128-32) and they have 3 titles and 3 other Super Bowl appearances.

The AFC equivalent of the Packers is the Steelers. They are 102-57-1 with a 3-6 playoff record and no Super Bowl appearances. They also have a HOF QB (although not as good as Rodgers) and usually have a look to the future mentality every year.

The Buccaneers are 60-100 the last 10 years and now have one title in that period.

The Eagles are 81-79-1 and with one title.

The Broncos are 93-57 with one title and one other Super Bowl appearance.

The Chiefs and the Seahawks have also won titles and been to 2 Super Bowls the past 10 years. This was mainly because they had a young QB that was not getting huge money yet when they made the big game (just like the 2010 Packers). We'll see how the Chiefs manage now that Mahomes has gotten paid.

The Seahawks are who I wish the Packers were more like in terms of personnel moves. They make aggressive moves every year to try to win often giving up premium draft picks to do so. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Jamal Adams is a difference-maker. Marshawn Lynch should have won them a second Super Bowl.  They traded for Carlos Dunlop. Even though they haven't won a second title, they make moves to maximize their chances every year when they can. We hold onto picks like we assume every 2nd rounder is going to be D. Adams and every 5th rounder is going to be Aaron Jones.

Anyone think Tampa Bay uses its 1st and 4th round picks to trade up and take Brady's replacement in the upcoming draft?

Or do we see Tampa Bay going all in to win another SB with a 44-year old Brady next season ... unlike what GB did with 37 year old Aaron Rodgers in 2020?

Tommy is already recruiting to fill the holes of guys leaving.

Honest question- had Rodgers ever openly reached out to guys? Has he ever “recruited “? He’s chimed in on rumors sure, but meddled in recruiting players? I don’t think so. Never anything public anyway.

i got a text message from someone last night that knows the guy that did the streaking across the field. Apparently the streaker made a prop bet for $50,000 that there would be a streaker run across the field. he and his friend got together and teh friend took off first to distract the security team. when they were chasing him, the main streaker took off on the field. From what I heard after his $1000 fine, he made over $300,000. I would say it was worth it....
