Cam Newton - I'm actually amazed he hasn't become a complete turd/JaMarcus Russell clone. That said, people still trying to find ways to prove he's anything more than mediocre is laughable.

 

RG3 - Man, talk about a one-year woner

 

Kapernick - Even if he was a Packer, I'd hate him because he reminds me of every douche from college/the gym.

 

I'd put Cutler here, but given his contributions, I hope the Packers retire the number 6 after the Bears cut him.

 

Also, does this include past QBs? I think Donovan McNabb is worthy. Maybe it's because I grew up in the Syracuse market and his every move was the top story on the 5 O'Clock news, but was there ever a guy in this league more hyped up simply for existing?

Eli Manning and Flacco have both been mentioned among the elite QB's at times, based mainly on a few stretches of great play.  They definitely do not belong in the same class with the top guys.

Manning is definitely the worst best QB in the league. I haven't seen enough Flacco to judge for sure.

You can't spell elite without Eli.

 

Eli is proof positive Super Bowls are team achievements. However if you have a truly great QB....that QB can mask issues with your team & propel you to great heights.

Matt Flynn.......not really but how is he on any NFL roster.  At least the otheR young overrated QB's have some talent and a bit of potential left.  Flynn ?  Not so much.

Flynn will make himself a fine OC one day.

Kaepernick stands out, especially after their SB year. I remember ESPN devoting a segment where Jaws talked about how Kaep could be the "greatest QB ever" because of his skillset, etc

 

Stafford is another one. He's basically a more flashy Jay Cutler clone. Both guys have strong arms and because of it they ignore footwork/proper mechanics and just try to sling it into small windows. Stafford is carried by Calvin, not too dissimilar from when Culpepper was carried by Moss

 

$cam Newton and Matty Puddles are also in the conversation. It's one of these 4 for me, though if I was forced to pick, I'd go Kaep just because I've gotten to see him more since I get every Niners game on TV here.

 

 

Don't like Kaepernick but let's be honest he's the one QB we don't want to see in the playoffs. He may be a douche but he treats us like his bitch. If he played us every week he'd have better numbers than Rodgers and Manning combined.

Disagree.  He may be overrated overall but he was out of his mind in their two SB wins over NE.

I concur, Eli isn't even in the mix of being overrated.  He's not having a good season, but he has a new OC, and is working on new mechanics.  Most overrated IMO, is Russell Wilson, that guy can't really throw a pass, he can run a bit, and he is a winner, but that doesn't mean he's a good QB, and everyone thinks he's great, because of what his team has done.  

Kaepernick may be all or some of the above but he is the last QB I want to see in the playoffs. Pack defense is playing much better since the move of C3TO to the inside but the club also hasn't seen the read option since the switch. It would be quite sweet to get some revenge on those Niners but I'm not sure if I even want to find out.

I'll go with Carson Palmer. Although injuries are a factor in this opinion, 'dems da breaks!

 

With this new defensive setup, count me in.  If this defense is solid against the Pats, we are looking at a championship team all around.  Squidward can scamper to futility when he has the likes of Peppers, Matthews, Hee Haw and Daniels closing in on him.

There seems to be quite a bit of agreement that it's Brady, Brees, Manning, AR (in no particular order) and then everyone else. Not really sure there's any QB right now that I'd say is overrated.

I think the bloom is off Colin's rose. Analysts are coming around on him not being an exceptional QB. Harbaugh wanted to prove he's a QB whisperer. Bad idea. They got crappy the farther they got away from Gore. 

 

Matt Ryan and Cutler are high on the list. Foles would be the leader in the clubhouse if he didn't go down for the season. 

If we're dealing with QBs currently out injured, I'll see your Nick Foles and raise you one Sam Bradford.

Bradford is a damn bobble head.  Tackling Bradford is like tackling Mr. Potatohead, parts just fly everywhere.

Tony Romo or Matt Ryan

 

People are souring on some of the overrated QBs of the past like Eli Manning, RG3, Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick, etc. They've all proven that they need quality receivers, a strong OL, and a good running game to be successful. Guys like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady don't have to have any of those things to be successful. Romo gets so much hype with this successful Dallas team when in reality their success is all due to that OL, DeMarco Murray, and Dez Bryant. That OL has done very well this year, Murray is always on the cusp of being an elite back (but seems constantly hurt), and Bryant has been making phenomenal plays individually. Romo can't carry a team, but he gets credit for being THE GUY to lead the team. Matt Ryan is wildly overrated still despite the fact that he is nothing more than Trent Dilfer. 

Brandon Bostick thinks Sam Bradford should toughen up.

As for RG3, before Shanahan ruined him? Damn he looked good. Great arm and great mobility...oh and that thing called confidence.

 

Now? Shell of himself, oft injured, original mobility is gone and zero confidence.  And I don't see that changing.

My first thought was Romo. Huge stats guy, great for your fantasy team. Ryan is right there with him.

 

Guys like RG3, Kaepernick, Newton, Wilson, ... QBs who get talked about a lot because of their scrambling ability, rarely last long and those that do don't win consistently. 

Russell Wilson is without a doubt the most overrated QB in today's NFL. You always see these graphs "Wilson is undefeated vs. Brady, Manning and Rodgers". Total horse ****. Dude has had one of the best modern defenses ever and a fantastic running game. Loved him at UW but he's not the MVP-caliber QB people make him out to be.

 

Close 2nd is Kaepernick though I think he's becoming less so. When he burst onto the scene people were already clearing out a spot in Canton. Now his defense has regressed and his offensive line is getting older and he's coming back down to Earth. I'd expect something similar with Wilson at some point. 

I don't consider Senneca Wilson overrated, I guess I haven't seen where he's being called an MVP-caliber QB or even elite. He's not putting up gaudy statistics, but he's not making mistakes. If anything I think he's underrated as far as what he means to that team. I don't think he's an elite passer in the NFL, but people seem to think Marshawn Lynch is the most important player on that offense and really I think Wilson is the key to it all. They run a plug 'n play any RB Zone Blocking scheme, they will dump Lynch after this season and be fine.

Maybe, but if the replacement doesn't produce the DEF can scheme more to Wilson. He's good, but not special to overcome a lack of a running game.

Eli Manning is like Matt Ryan, very efficient and execute the scheme. Neither one elevate the players around them and neither one can carry a team. 

 

I think Wilson will be fine, even if he gets more attention. He's more than a game manager. I've seen him make a lot of really smart/savvy plays. He needs a more reliable group of WRs to really get that passing game going. I also think Wilson, and the whole offense really, has been successful in spite of his OC.
