I read an article the other day in which Woodson was called the Packers best slot cover CB... I immediately thought no, he's not. Hugely valuable and nowhere near a liability, but he can't cover anymore like he could even just last season.

Might be Chucks last season in GB...especially when you consider his salary next year.
- I thought the safeties were pretty bad most of the game but got bailed out by horrible passes from Stafford. They let megatron get wide open behind them several times. Even the pick 6 should have been a long completion to the TE, but was off target and deflected off his hands.

+ good to see pressure in spite of Matthews being out. Also, I didn't even notice Lang at RT, so he must have been at least OK.
Gotta admit that before and even during the game today, I agreed with FreeSafety in that I had Pakrz -like thoughts.

Huge win against a desperate, albeit terribly coached team on the road with the JV's.

Seriously - that defense looked like the second half of preseason games on paper, and they got it done.

Credos to Dan Comper.

No doubt he'd be willing to take a cut if Ted and Mike can sit him down and present the case correctly. He'd be held in less esteem on any other team (since he'd be the new guy learning a new system) and odds are his only way of maintaining or increasing his amount of snaps would be to go to a lesser team. His best interests as a player are in Green Bay. If he wants to win more championships, he stays; if he wants to make $500,000-1,000,000 more (and even that may be stretching it) while playing for a loser, he'll go elsewhere.
- Looks like Alex Green played himself into a nice seat on the sidelines.. I would guess he had under 10 snaps today as Cobb was in the backfield more often.

- All the LB's were great today. Hawk was huge against the run today and the oitside guys got good preasure.. Moses is making Walden replaceable in 2013 for half the cost.. Perry, Clay and Moses for depth next year.

- I hate Jim Shorts.

No one else will even give him half of that to come in as an old vet learning a new system in a new locker room. I think both sides will be fine with cutting that in half to keep his veteran leadership in the locker room of a winning team that he's been a part of for what will by 2013 be exactly half of his career.
Starks looks faster than he ever has. Bye did wonders I think. But will he last? Not hosing my breath.

The pass rush was excellent. D still leaves too many open receivers, but they didn't pay for it today with all the errant throws and drops.

I like winning when Rodgers was so off today. The INT might have been his worst throw as a Packer. To still get the win when it counts is a great sign.

The team needs to rally around Crosby. Jennings getting him to smile and relax showed great leadership. He's struggling, but they're going to need him in the end. I hope he can use that last kick as a catapult.

Bring on the Gints...

Seems like MM wants Starks to find the same spark he had 2 years ago, get him rolling late and during the push into the playoffs. I like Green, but he's not the 1st and 2nd down back that Starks is capable of being. Starks and a healthy Benson, with Green at his more natural 3rd down back position would be a nice addition come playoff time, and give Rodgers some time and space to look downfield.

Walden is having a very good season, had two sacks today and several pressures. He wasn't worth a damn last season but has turned it around. He'll be back.
+
Moses, Heyward and M.D. Jennings!
Starks. I've been waiting for him to get a chance, and i like him far more than Green.
Having Jordy back, even if he only got, what, 2 catches?
Finley is back!
Corn on the Cobb
Masthay is money! Dude deserves more props.
as per the other thread, Greg Jennings loosening crosby up before the last fG! Great team guy!

Mike Neal's offsides. getting tired of this guy. Don't see much upside.
Offensive line problems. wish we'd keep Kuhn or more TE's in the help protect Rodgers, 'cuz
without him we are ToAST.
Crosby's misses are troubling, but with lots and lots of practice and encouragement, he can correct it.
Saw Raji leave at end of game. Hope he's okay and will be back soon.
Refs. How much money did they take to give all those early bogus calls to Detroit?
Brad Jones is just a guy. Hope we get the ClayMaker back soon.
my life flashed before me when the Detroit Linemen picked up Rodgers and was looking like he was going to absolutely body slam him thru the turf to China. no doubt if he would have done than it would have been a devastating injury. Thank God it wasn't Suh that had him up there. He has no conscience. Rodgers owes that guy bigtime. In fact it looked like Rodgers eyes were big as saucers after that play probably realizing how close he came to being knocked out.
Yeah, the guy could have easily Charles Martined him right there. The fact that it was Field Turf may have softened the blow to some degree (whereas Soldier Field was green concrete in '86), but it still would have been bad. I have a feeling that the Lions are going to be a lot less restrained in those situations at Lambeau if their season continues to go south.

They had five sacks today and hurried Stafford into some incompletions. Thought it was a decent performance.

To be honest I didn't see all that much of the game. So i guess i really can't presume too much.

When i was watching it didn't look like they were getting much pressure. But 5 sacks says a lot. Especially against an offensive line that's been pretty solid and without matthews.

Walden was solid today. Again. Yeah, please just pay him.

..and Raji, CM3, Jennings and Rodgers.

Reality in the NFL is that you cant keep everyone. Ted will meed to continue to find guys like Walden, Moses, Jones, Shields who make peanuts yet perform better than average players.. Only way you cay lock up your stars long term and keep winning.

Walden should get paid, Ted shouldnt be the guy issuing the check.
Game winning TD drive:

1st play from scrimmage @ 4:19

1-10-GB 18 (4:19) J.Starks up the middle to GB 29 for 11 yards (D.Levy)
Very good blocking from EDS - Saturday - Sitton with EDS doing a nice job on Fairly who had a very good game for DET overall

1-10-GB 29 (3:47) (Shotgun) A.Rodgers pass incomplete short right to J.Nelson.

2-10-GB 29 (3:43) (Shotgun) A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Finley to DET 31 for 40 yards (R.Silva).
The blocking outside from Cobb and Nelson shows how unselfish this team is, and Finley was smart to take it outside as Nelson had the edge sealed.

1-10-DET 31 (3:12) (No Huddle, Shotgun) A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Finley to DET 25 for 6 yards (D.Levy).

2-4-DET 25 (2:44) (No Huddle, Shotgun) J.Starks right tackle to DET 22 for 3 yards (D.Levy; S.Tulloch).

3-1-DET 22 (2:02) (Shotgun) A.Rodgers pass deep left to R.Cobb for 22 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
Cobb. Great ball awareness on that play.

For a team that couldn't do much all game and had zero rhythm, that was a championship type drive.
