Depends. When it doesn't work, MM is an idiot. When it does, Arod is a jeanyous.

The defence won this game. That is nothing but good.

Walden picks up two sacks and a negative grade for pass rushing?
Herein lies the beauty of our grading. As one reader pointed out, how could Erik Walden of the Packers get a -3.5 grade for pass rushing after he picked up two sacks. Well the box scores tell you he picked up two sacks but they donât tell you how he picked up those sacks, how often he rushed the passer and plenty more. Our grades do. Both of his sacks were of the clean up variety, with a quarterback flushed to him rather than him beating a man. Then factor in on the other 43 pass rushes he generated not one single pressure. So you get an idea what our grading can do, that box scores canât.

GB @ DET Analysis!
- The first game from yesterday is in and it featured some fine Packer performances. The highest graded if which were for Casey Hayward (+4.6), Davon House (+4.2) and A.J. Hawk (+3.0).
- How about this ridiculous stat line for Hayward. Thrown at seven times, allowing one reception while breaking up three pass and intercepting another.
- James Starks is very much the go to guy at the running back spot now. He played 44 snaps to the 7 of Alex Green.
- If you watched the game youâll know that Nick Fairley (+7.3) was the best player on the field. The next best two Lions were Willie Young (+3.5) and Jacob Lacey (+2.6).
- An absolutely horrid day for Matthew Stafford (-5.2). His team only had two drops and there were no throwaways, spikes or batted passes in there. His adjusted accuracy of 48.7% is reflective of how poor he was.
- Green Bay treated Tony Scheffler as an additional wide receiver and didnât spend one play in a 3-4 or 4-3 alignment.
Walden had two sacks, but he can thank his teammates for them. Moses had a much better day rushing the passer.
So in other words, Walden can just stand around and wait for the sacks to come to him.
Realistically with Clay out the next guy that should get the attention from offenses is Walden. I can't say if he got any extra attention, I don't remember seeing any double teams, but I think the fact that the rest of the DL/LB had successful games and he didn't means he was getting special attention from Detoilet. He's had a pretty well season as far as pressures go, so for him to coincidentally have his worst game while Clay is out tells me something else was going on.
6 tackles and 2 sacks = worst game?
Clay Matthews quote yesterday when asked about the defensive effort:
"It shows that they're probably going to get rid of me"
"It shows that they're probably going to get rid of me"
And one of those tackles was for a loss.
But the sacks don't count.
Alrighty.

quote:What I also love is the solid tackling they've been showing.
There has been a huge improvement in that department over last year. Perfect example is not allowing DET to do much on that last posession. Last year, I would not have been suprised in the least to see CJ run that last reception all the way to the end zone. Hayward inspires a lot of excitement about the future of the secondary but House, with his size and speed could look just as good in the near future.
One exception: I don't understand what in the hell Tramon was doing trailing that first early long ball to CJ as if he was a ref. He saw the ball coming and he was in position to close on it but decided to stay a fan instead.
Finally got a chance to watch the whole game via NFL rewind.
Thought Dezman Moses was exceptional in his first NFL start. Did a great job rushing the passer all game, didn't seem to get tired as the game went on. Forced fumble on Stafford was awesome, and the play where he tripped up Leshoure in the backfield that got negated because he was held was really nice.
Casey Hayward and Davon House. Wow. On a day when Tramon Williams didn't quite seem himself these guys stepped up and played fantastic football. House and Hayward were both on the field for all 75 defensive snaps. House had countless pass breakups and Hayward's ball skills are amazing.
BJ Raji deserves some credit. He had a really nice game, and it's the first time this year i've seen him get consistent pressure all game. Notice he seemed a little hobbled at the end but I don't think its anything too serious.
Overall I thought the defense was outstanding. I didn't give them nearly enough credit in my first post.
One thing I wasn't expecting, Nick Fairly made Jeff Saturday and Josh Sitton look really bad. Sitton is one of the best guards in the NFL and did not have a good game at all vs. Fairly.

He injured his ankle. Wouldn't shock me if he missed a week or two.
(Re)injured.
Doesn't matter. Either way he'll be in a wheel chair after amputation.
that's a bummer.
Dead man walking.
@TyDunne
MM on Raji's ankle: Early diagnosis is that it's not as bad as before.
Hawk and Pickett with game balls for the defense.

@WesHod
MM: Casey Hayward was extremely productive. Maybe his best performance of the season. M.D. Jennings, thought he graded out well.
@WesHod
MM: Defensively, we graded out very well. Strength of our performance yesterday. AJ Hawk/Ryan Pickett got game balls on defense
@TyDunne
MM on MDJ play: Been fun to see M.D. get better and better. Broke a tackle. Reaction of rest of D to get ahead of him. Great finish.
â@TyDunne
MM on OL: Give credit to their defense. Felt it'd be a hard day. That surface, that crowd noise a challenge.
@TyDunne
MM: Thought the quarterback was exceptional. You think of big plays, spirals with QB. But game like that is hard. True sign of a tough QB
â@TyDunne
MM on game he called: A few too many calls (I didn't like). Didn't adjust to things we should have. Would have gone in a different direction
@TyDunne
MM: Division wins are special, especially on the road, in November. Gives you confidence. ...Knew it'd be tough sledding.
â@TyDunne
MM on Crosby: Was here today. Him and Slocum went through # of things. Have confidence in plan moving forward.

is that an injury of some kind?
That's one injury I'd hate to see.
Ultimate team players.
@NFL_ATL: Titus Young sent home from #Lions facility, inactive Thursday for behavioral issue
Supposedly that's what the Lion's coaching staff was yelling at each other about as well.

quote:"Can they maintain their composure, both on the field and off the field? They're a very talented team, but they have struggles on the field containing their composure, and definitely, the things we've heard of, them being in the media with off-the-field problems and off-the-field issues. Can they maintain their composure? Can they be a professional ball club for 16, 17, 18 solid weeks throughout the regular season?"
Greg Jennings took some heat for that comment back in July.
Apparently the false start on the final kitties drive happened when Young lined up in the wrong spot, Stafford yelled at him, and the lineman jumped.
I don't see any way Schwartz avoids a complete team implosion at this point.
If they lose to an exhausted Texans team on Thanksgiving, they probably will implode (winning 1-2 more the rest of the way), but I can see them feeling like they "saved" their season if they win.
The game didn't have my full attention yesterday, but if I was guessing I'd think they don't bother with extra attention for Walden. Clay earns all his special attention, but with Walden I'd think they leave him up to the tackle unless he starts doing damage.quote:Originally posted by Grave Digger:
