Take a look at the Bears and Philly, whom many care comparing Tolzien to. Both guys have starting experience. In the case if McCown, he's been in the league for a decade. Tolzien's lack of experience is the big difference between him and the other backups that are winning right now.

Another week of reps and we're hopefully looking at a stong showing and a win.

Favre won more games than he lost. Tolzien 0-2. 1 TD and 5 INTs. I was not happy with Favre towards the end, but to compare him to Tolzien is remarkable.

I agree, they should take a close look at Flynn. Tolzien can't score and is an int machine. I will wait until Tolzien wins a game before singing his praises.

If they play Flynn and he does well my hat goes off to him and the coaches however I am concerned that half of the league could use a good QB and few showed interest in him.  2 teams , Oak and the Bills had him and let him go And lord knows they could use a QB. Seattle must not have been impressed either.  Maybe the QB guru can fix whatever the other guys could not but I need to see it.

Wonder if Tolzien could be a better game manager with all the bullets in the chamber.

It may make it harder for Tolzien. The Packers offence is not a young QB friendly, it is designed for a very savy QB. Rodgers. Tolxien cannot come to the line and change a play according to what the defense is doing. Giving him more options just may make running the offence more confusing for him.

I'd rather keep Tolzien around than a guy whose arm is suspect. Give Tolzien the benefit of TC and an off-season of QB guru school and he'll be a great backup. I don't think MM did him any favors by calling Lacy into the middle every first down and leaving us with second- and third-and-longs. Not only that, but if you read Peter King today, JPP had a bead on our playcalling: β€œAll I said was, β€˜I’m going to pick this off and run it to the house,” he said.

If that's the case, on top of what other Giants said about our D, then we might as well turn playcalling duties over to the teams' coordinators. Something, somewhere is tipping teams off to exactly what we're going to do.

Hard for Tolzien to succeed against that; hard for our D to beat other teams when they know exactly what we're going to do.

JPP made a phenominal play- pure and simple.   The other two picks it's obvious Tolzien shouldn't have made those throws.

Still, my biggest complaints about the game on Sunday is that the OL- particularly Newhouse- was not good and our defense in the middle of the field was atrocious.  Unless those issues get fixed I'm not sure that Tolzien or any other QB playing for the Packers will get the victory.

When asked about Tolzien, Rodgers was very complimentary. He said he thought Tolzien performed well considering he joined the team in September and was on the practice squad until Rodgers' injury.

"I’m real proud of Scott," he said. "He really cares about it, he puts the time in. I think he played very well at times yesterday. He completed over 70% of his passes with a couple drops. He hit some big-time throws down the field. I think he hit all his deep throws, to James (Jones), to (Jarret) Boykin down the sideline to (Brandon) Bostick down the middle. He made some big time throws in the game. Obviously, he'd like to have a few of those back. About a couple weeks ago he was on the practice squad.

"You know he came to me a few weeks back and asked me about an opportunity that came up with a different team that was interested in him. And I guess my own foreshadowing of my injury, I said, 'This is a good spot for you. I think you can fit in this offense, I think you’re a talented guy and this offense rewards preparation.'

Interesting, at least to me. I posted this yesterday from a McCarthy press conference recap, yet when I watched the presser at lunch on Packers.com McCarthy said this next...  "Scott Tolzien will go into the week as the starter."

Sitton said the play didn't call for a cut. Perhaps you're correct, but it's impossible to really determine how much of it was Scott and how much of it was just a great play by JPP. AR had several balls batted down in the Cincy game and that certainly wasn't inexperience.
