(And, yeah, I know that Dickey Favre threw for a ton of yards--but he was as likely to throw a pick and end a game on a pick as throw a TD).
Favre won more games than he lost. Tolzien 0-2. 1 TD and 5 INTs. I was not happy with Favre towards the end, but to compare him to Tolzien is remarkable.
Need to let Tolzien and Flynn split reps with the starters this week in practice. Tough to win with all the Tolzien interceptions. Hopefully, Tolzien or Flynn can do better next game. If Tolzien starts again then he needs to be on a very short leash.
I agree, they should take a close look at Flynn. Tolzien can't score and is an int machine. I will wait until Tolzien wins a game before singing his praises.
If they play Flynn and he does well my hat goes off to him and the coaches however I am concerned that half of the league could use a good QB and few showed interest in him. 2 teams , Oak and the Bills had him and let him go And lord knows they could use a QB. Seattle must not have been impressed either. Maybe the QB guru can fix whatever the other guys could not but I need to see it.
McCarthy: "Scott Tolzien will start this week. Was that was quick as last week?" Says he hasn't met with medical staff.
Even AR's production dropped once he lost another lineman, Cobb, Finley.
Wonder if Tolzien could be a better game manager with all the bullets in the chamber.

It may make it harder for Tolzien. The Packers offence is not a young QB friendly, it is designed for a very savy QB. Rodgers. Tolxien cannot come to the line and change a play according to what the defense is doing. Giving him more options just may make running the offence more confusing for him.
Tolzien will be alright. He deserves another chance and MM needs to get more creative on some of his play-calling. ie more screens, roll-outs and play-actions.
I'd rather keep Tolzien around than a guy whose arm is suspect. Give Tolzien the benefit of TC and an off-season of QB guru school and he'll be a great backup. I don't think MM did him any favors by calling Lacy into the middle every first down and leaving us with second- and third-and-longs. Not only that, but if you read Peter King today, JPP had a bead on our playcalling: βAll I said was, βIβm going to pick this off and run it to the house,β he said.
If that's the case, on top of what other Giants said about our D, then we might as well turn playcalling duties over to the teams' coordinators. Something, somewhere is tipping teams off to exactly what we're going to do.
Hard for Tolzien to succeed against that; hard for our D to beat other teams when they know exactly what we're going to do.
Looks like 8 out the first 11 were runs.
those long throws to Boykin and Jones were beautiful.
he needs to stop throwing interceptions. no more excuses.
can't wait zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Of the last 3 Badger QBs, not counting Wilson, I'll take Tolzien over Bollinger or Stocco. And both of the last 2 also played in the NFL.

7 of first 11. 9 runs and 9 passes on the first 18 1st downs... the 18th being the JPP pick-6. After that they were throwing nearly every down.
On the JPP pick...why can't our O-line cut-block when the play is a quick slant pass?
A cut-block is legal...not dirty...and gets the DE low...
I recall several batted balls in the Bengal game and sometimes you just need to give the opposition credit for making a great play. The JPP pick is the type of play the Packers need from their defense when AR is not under center.
JPP made a phenominal play- pure and simple. The other two picks it's obvious Tolzien shouldn't have made those throws.
Still, my biggest complaints about the game on Sunday is that the OL- particularly Newhouse- was not good and our defense in the middle of the field was atrocious. Unless those issues get fixed I'm not sure that Tolzien or any other QB playing for the Packers will get the victory.
JPP didn't rush on the play, which is why we couldn't cut block him...Tolzien didn't read it correctly, inexperience.

When asked about Tolzien, Rodgers was very complimentary. He said he thought Tolzien performed well considering he joined the team in September and was on the practice squad until Rodgers' injury.
"Iβm real proud of Scott," he said. "He really cares about it, he puts the time in. I think he played very well at times yesterday. He completed over 70% of his passes with a couple drops. He hit some big-time throws down the field. I think he hit all his deep throws, to James (Jones), to (Jarret) Boykin down the sideline to (Brandon) Bostick down the middle. He made some big time throws in the game. Obviously, he'd like to have a few of those back. About a couple weeks ago he was on the practice squad.
"You know he came to me a few weeks back and asked me about an opportunity that came up with a different team that was interested in him. And I guess my own foreshadowing of my injury, I said, 'This is a good spot for you. I think you can fit in this offense, I think youβre a talented guy and this offense rewards preparation.'

Interesting, at least to me. I posted this yesterday from a McCarthy press conference recap, yet when I watched the presser at lunch on Packers.com McCarthy said this next... "Scott Tolzien will go into the week as the starter."
"He completed over 70% of his passes with a couple of drops."
AR still hasn't learned the QB is supposed to take responsibility for the drops.
It's simple, really. Tell Scott we're playing for the ax.
Ya think? The last QB from Iowa worth a schit will be the first. You know what the definition of an Iowa virgin is? An 8 year old girl that can out run her brothers...

Sitton said the play didn't call for a cut. Perhaps you're correct, but it's impossible to really determine how much of it was Scott and how much of it was just a great play by JPP. AR had several balls batted down in the Cincy game and that certainly wasn't inexperience.
