Gilbert's NFL stats say nothing about the queens.
Guess he didn't PLAY for them.
Is Kurt Warner going into the Hall of Fame as a former Packers player? COOL!
Koren Robinson is the only guy I can think of. The Packers swooped in pretty quickly to grab him after the Vikings cut him. The offense was anemic for most of that season, so they were just looking for anyone that could help at the time. Jim Flanigan is the only player from the Bears or Lions over the last 15 years that the Packers have had an interest in. There may have been 1 or 2 more, but the Packers generally just aren't interested in the castoffs from NFC Central/North teams.quote:Originally posted by Troy:
I thought he missed more. Anyway, he is forever tarnished since he has wore purple for three years. I wouldn't want him anyway near the Packers. It makes you think that management must want it that way too since I can't remember any player we have scooped up from the Vikings.
The Packers don't have many castoffs from other teams, period. It's amazing how much of the roster is homegrown.

If you'd take Jones over Harvin any day, fine with me. I'd do the flip.
I'd take Harvin as well. But I can see Randall Cobb doing a lot of the same things Harvin does from the slot and return game. And if it were between Harvin or Cobb I'm taking Cobb. I see a lot more upside.
... and a lot less downside. Harvin is a headcase you don't want in your locker room.
If Randall Cobb develops into the kind of playmaker that Harvin has, it would be downright scary.
I highly doubt any team that has Green Bay on its schedule is penciling in a win
They're one of the top teams in the league & will be difficult to beat every week.
I believe Randall Cobb is (or at least can be) every bit the player Harvin is plus he's a better locker room person too.

@Packerpedia
James Jones has 7 TD catches in his last 7 games. That's tied for #1 in the NFL with Marques Colston, Victor Cruz and Julio Jones.
@Packerpedia
James Jones now has 5+ TD rec each of the past 4 seasons, the first Packer to do so since Antonio Freeman did in 6 straight seasons (96-01).
ROTTT!!!!

Based on what JJ has done to date, his regular season stats project to 64 receptions, 758 yards, and 16 TDs. Nelson is on a pace for more catches and yards but only 3 TDs.
Aren't we glad we didn't trade him this past year as many of us wanted to, myself included? He's proven to be a pretty good fill-in for Jennings, although he doesn't have the speed or moxie of GJ. Guess that TT guy knows what he's doing!

And the cause of 6 interceptions with sloppy routes and little effort to help prevent an interception.

No. If some GM wanted to overpay for him, I' would've traded him in a heart beat.
Glad he's there, even with the occasional mistake. He's been coming through.
So Jones and Nelson are running 30 and 40 yards every play...both players ran in the low 4.5s in the 40 yard dash on a track, so that means their route is taking them at least that long which forces Rodgers to hold the ball for that long when the OLine hasn't been giving him 2 seconds at times to throw. (Holy run on sentence Batman!) In the words of our president, that math doesn't add up. So yeah I'm not surprised Rodgers is taking sacks waiting for 4.5 second route to develop. What's probably more accurate is what Pike said, that Jones THINKS he's open when really he's just beaten the CB but the Safety is over the top which means Jones/Nelsom aren't open. I don't think Jones was being critical of Rodgers or throwing anyone under the bus, I think he is frustrated people are blaming him when really it's not JUST him or JUST Nelson, it's the whole offense. The blocking has been inconsistent, Rodgers has been indecisive at times, and I think the receivers have not not played disciplined football.
I'm not worried though, just like how defense found the answer to slowing down Rodgers, Rodgers will find a way to beat what they're doing, and the game will continue. Sometimes it takes some lumps and bruised egos to get your mind straight and figure out how to stop it from happening again.

Er, how long does it take for the ball to get from Rodgers' hand to 30 yards downfield?
Faster than you can throw it or hit play on your VCR..
I was never on board for cutting Jones. He might not be anything more than a very good #3 or an average #2, but you could argue that he's underpaid in either of those roles with his current contract. And by all accounts, he's a decent locker room guy too. JJ is hardly the problem with this offense. IMO, Bulaga, Newhouse and Saturday need to shoulder most of the blame (didn't include Lang and Sitton as from what I've read, they've played fairly well).
IMO, MM thought he had some answers coming into the season with Benson and Cobb ... too bad Jennings, Finley and now Benson threw negative variables into the equation.
remember when drops was the knock on JJ?
What a jump in performance
What a jump in performance
He always had the right attitude, and probably BFI too. Finley is a lost cause.
tied a Don Hutson record and you people wanted to trade him?
I've been a JJ fan from day one but I've got to say he's got to be the most elusive/deceptive speed guy I've ever seen. he looks like he's just jogging out there but gaddammer he gets it done.

The Pack's back. I think. The one thing we've all learned from the first six weeks of the season about the Green Bay offense is James Jones is a vastly underrated talent, and the catches he's made -- both in volume and difficulty -- show he's a top-20 NFL receiver on a team with two others.

Wow, Hungry5, that is quite an accolade.
I don't think he is quite on a level with Jennings, but I do think he is performing above the rest. Though I tend to think Cobb will eventually rise above them all. And then Jordy. In saying what I have just said, I think I may be slighting him.
What an enviable situation!
I think as the season proceeds, more and more the offense will depend on one thing, it's line. I tend to think everything else will be a machine.

@TyDunne
In FA, teams told James Jones they didn't want him because of the drops. He didn't forget, now has zero thru 9 games.
Making a name for himself
Love the motivation (it seems) Nelson may be taking from Jones' success through 9 games.

In addition to zero drops, he's made some remarkable catches!!

I don't think he's a top-20 receiver, but he's a legitimate No. 2 who's arguably only the 4th best receiver on this roster.
Nice avatar heyward.
At this point, I think JJ is a better receiver than Cobb, which makes him the 3rd best on the team. I think Cobb will be fantastic, but he's still learning the position.
