When Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez appeared on the cover of GQ magazine, posed for a fashion spread inside and gave an interview in which he was referred to as “the rock-starriest New York quarterback in decades,” we knew he’d take some grief.

As it turns out, Sanchez isn’t just taking grief in the Jets’ locker room. He’s also hearing it from other NFL quarterbacks who say they wouldn’t dare become offseason fashion models.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was shown a copy of the Sanchez GQ during an interview with ESPN Milwaukee, and he didn’t try to conceal his contempt.

“Look at this,” Rodgers said. “That’s embarrassing. Page 94 of the GQ thing here. That’s terrible.”

Page 94 of GQ features the photo you see here, with Sanchez posing in white pants and a black tank top. Rodgers doesn’t think that’s a good look. He’s right.

In any event, Rodgers says he has no interest in posing for magazine covers or otherwise seeking publicity.

“It’s just not really my style,” Rodgers said. “I like my anonymity, I like my privacy. I like being able to be the quarterback during the week and, in the offseason, just be able to do what I want to do and not have to be in the public eye.”

That approach has worked pretty well for Rodgers.

If you listen to the interview it does not sound like AR was taking a serious shot but rather some locker-room type ribbing, which seems well deserved based on the George Michael look Sanchez is sporting.

"You can't design a defense to stop me" = Arrogant

"Look at this, that's embarrasing" = Accurate

"Arron Rodgers can be an arrogant jerk" = A$$hole
Poor skippy about blew a gasket today about Rodgers' comment. The others on the show said "hey his own teammates were ripping him" but skippy blew that off. I wish someone had asked the question - "hey skippy Rodgers' gave Matthews a bunch of flack about his hair and being socal in the NFL special last night, how do you feel about that one?"
I'm not sure Skippy hates the Packers, but he's certainly not particularly fond of AR. Last year he took offense at the belt celebration and this year it's something just as inane.

As Hungry said, if you listen to the interview it's pretty clearly just good-natured locker room ribbing and nothing more than that.

Nobody with a brain cares, that's why I wish people would stop posting his crap here

Skippy is an idiot, no need for any additional evidence
Rodgers & Sanchez have the same agent. I was happy to see Sanchez handle Rodgers' "embarrassing" comment with no issues

Rodgers not a fan of Skip Bayless.

"Skip should wear more makeup."

Nobody in their right mind cares what chicken puke thinks. So glad for the "ignore chicken puke" messages on this board I now get.

@ about 26-27 minutes into the broadcast yesterday AR breaks down the Cobb receiving TD. We have all heard that Cobb ran the wrong route on that play, but what is very interesting is ARs description of how he recognized the Cobb mistake and how he was able to take advantage of it based on the defense... all in a second or two.

That tells me that there may be a big-ass contract being announced within the next few months, but perhaps not the salary cap suck hole that Manning's deal is.
He actually addressed that too

quote:
“It’s not something I think about,” said Rodgers, who is represented by David Dunn, who handles many of the top quarterbacks’ contracts. “We were so blessed to be able to have that contract done in 2008. We knew at the time that was more money than I ever could have imagined signing for, and it was a no brainer for me. But we knew if I performed the way I felt I was capable of performing, that by league standards that by the time I got into my third or fourth or fifth season, that I’d be underpaid by league standards.

“But I don’t look at it that way. I look at it as I’m fortunate to make the kind of money I make and be in the situation I’m in and be with the Packers’ organization. I want to retire as a Packer. They know that, the fans know that, my teammates know that, and this is where I want to be. I’m not worried about (a new contract). We’re still a few years away from me completing this deal, and whenever it comes time to make a new deal, I’m looking forward to maybe signing my last deal, playing it out, and retiring.”
