+ hard to see it but House and Hayward both played well. It was the safeties and LB's that got exposed.

+ Moses > Walden is good news for 2013 or sooner if Capers has the stones to replace him when Clay gets back.

+ Wood will replace Jennings in a few weeks.

+ Rodgers didn't get hurt.

+ We still control our own destiny.

Negs

- Capers allowing Cruz to get singled against Waldin and Jennings multiple times.. Have you ever seen Jennings 1 on 1 vs a OLB?

- MM needs to find his stones again.. He was Ron Jeremy in the 1rst half of the season, last 2 games, not so much.

- Newhouse is a huge liability.. Need to pray Sherrod can play amd play better than that turd.

- Back to work Monday.
+
James Jones went another game without a drop.
Finley came down with the tipped pass.
Moses had a sack and tipped a goalline pass.
Crosby made a field goal.

-
McCarthy seemed slow to adjust the protection schemes for the O-line.
Rodgers seemed off on some of his passes, and seemingly held the ball too long with open receivers.
McCarthy/Rodgers kept trying to force the ball to Cobb who was taken out of the game by Rolle, rather than go for other receivers.
Stupid penalties with a lot of favorable calls towards the Giants.
Masthay had some poor punts.
Run defense was porous.
Pass defense was porous.
Defense failed to force any turnovers.
Truthfully, I stopped watching in the beginning of the 3rd Q. They weren't there. Never had it. No fire, nothing that excited them, their backs aren't against the wall, they have (in their minds) not that much to play for tonight. McCarthy mailed it in 3rd when they came out even flatter in the second half as they did at the start of the game.

You'll never hear it from a player or a coach, but this game meant more to us than it did to them. It also meant more t the Giants, who are trying to get their mojo back. As a team, the Packers are awaiting the return of their leaders from injury- Jennings, Matthews, and Woody. That's when they'll get their mojo back...

I think he's just a huge question mark. He could play great, he could play adequate, or he could play abysmal. He's a cross your fingers guy.

Agree..But it's our most realistic hope to improving pass protection IMO.. We wont be signing Clifton and I dont think Has Rotten azz is the answer.
Yeah... like I said, this game didn't seem to have as much importance to the Packers.

Here's how it might be in the "war room":

- they know that the division will be won or lost in the next 5 games, so this game has less consequence

- it is likely the Giants will be a playoff team, so it's a distinct possibility that they'll see them again and they aren't interested in breaking out their best playbook for this game

The Giants played like a team trying to right their ship- the Packers played like a team that had the bus warming up at halftime.

One player I would like to call out is Williams- WTF was that scared BS on the first Q screen that Bradshaw had? He was in position to make the tackle and ran away from the ball carrier to take on a block the other way? What the hell???

Right now, that's looking like a 50-50 game. If our Oline is porous once again as the Queens have a decent front four, Rodgers could spend some more time on the turf. Rodgers has been sacked, what, 38 times now? Yikes. AP has a chance to run all day on our Dline and linebackers. Our best hope is to have MM throw all kinds of slants and screens on O, and that AP gets tired of running.

positive: TT looks at this season and says we need some more physical interior offensive lineman.

negative: Newhouse is topping out as inconsistent. He's had a ton of games now under his belt and it's getting to the 'he is what he is' stage of his career. Same with Burnett

I think that today marks the beginning of the end of "keep 5 tight ends" on the roster, and short the o line 2 players. We rolled the dice on keeping 1 vet and two rookies on the o line and it appears to have come up short, at last tonight. Now, we are down to 2 rookies as our sole backups, and there really isn't anywhere to turn for improvement.

I suspect next year we go with at least 4-5 offensive backup o linemen. Hopefully, Bulaga is back to full health, Sherrod gets healthy and gets a full mini-camp and training camp, we get the tackle position improved and center is an upgrade.

So in other words there isnt much hope....slants n screens have been non existent this season
Everybody, including me, wants to play the blame game. The entire team sucked, even it's brightest star. Using injuries as an excuse is nice, but GB isn't the only team with injuries. The bottom line is that GB got destroyed at the line of scrimmage and it trickled down from there.

What's most disappointing to me is the game planning/preparation. GB was out played from beginning to end. They lacked intensity, motivation and a sense of urgency.

I'm left scratching my head at MM's offensive approach to the game. The Giants' defensive line is superior to GB's offensive line and there's no two ways about it. The game plan, IMO, should have included heavy doses of screens, mis-direction plays, quick slants, short passes to the TE, etc. Arod should have been advised to get rid of the ball fast. Instead, Rodgers was running plays with an empty backfield far too often and hanging onto the football way too long. It proved to be a recipe for disaster.

Just an overall lackadaisical performance by everybody.
Why weren't we highly motivated to win? I didn't see much of that out there at all. I saw a lot of frustration because things weren't going their way. I didn't see a lot of beating the man in front of them and making a play.

The offensive line is the engine of the offense. Ours is mediocre at best and that's a death sentence for the playoffs. Bulaga isn't coming back and there's no spit and grizzle Clifton on the other side. The sunshine folks might like to think Lang and Newhouse will get it together for a playoff run. Lang and Newhouse are running out of time to get better and I have to say I have little faith they will. There's a steep, steep drop off from Bulaga/Clifton to Lang/Newhouse and it's not like we didn't have some tough spots along the way to the 2010 Superbowl where we really needed the tackles to step up.
Positves: The TD pass to Nelson made it look like it might be a fun night.

Negs: It was a fun night.... for the Gints and their fans. Among the obvious things is that Matthews is truly the only true playmaker in the front 7. Without him, all the others are exposed for being the average to mediocre guys they really are. Maybe Bishop's and Perry's return next year will give Clay some help, but there are no guarantees and they can't help in 2012.
I'm staying positive on this. This game means little to the Packers and meant a lot to the Giants. You never WANT to lose but this game was a complete disaster: defending world champs in the road after a bye while the Packers have the majority if their pro bowlers in clothes. I never thought it'd be this bad, but I wasn't expecting a win. Hope they can take care of things in the division and get that NFC North crown.

Next draft though, I expect more offensive linemen and front 7 defenders. They need specific backups at OT, OG and C. No more of this "one guy gets hurt so now we suck at two positions" crap they're doing now with Lang. Front seven also needs more juice. I know CMIII and Bishop are out, but they have to be more physical up front. Tonight's run defense was pathetic.

And I'm done with Hawk. He's just not very good. He can't cover TE's and RB's, he's not physical at the point of attack, he's slow sideline to sideline, and his tackling technique consists of dragging the ball carrier down 3-4 yards after contact. I said it last year and in the offense and I'll say it again: he has no discernable strengths on the football field. He has to be replaced if this defense wants to be great.
I think everyone is being too harsh on Newhouse.
He was playing alone against one of the best D-Tackles in the NFL.
Lang was getting beat just as bad on the right side.
The big trouble tonight was that the Giants were able to pass rush up the middle against EDS and Saturday. Whatever help the Packers could give on the line had to be used to stop NY interior pass rush. Once the Packers could not do that the game was over.
To me it looks as though Saturday is done and EDS is not a guard. Those two are just getting crushed inside. My gut instinct is that the packers miss the playoffs with a 9-7 record. Too many good players have been lost and Ted has run out of the next guy in some positions.
This just is not the Packer season.

Moses can makes plays. He showed a lot tonight though it might not seem it. Never gave up and played hard the whole game through. Once Clay comes back he's the other guy and Perry's going to have a hell of a task earning his playing time back next year.

Safeties are scary bad right now. There's still miscommunication going on in the secondary and that falls directly on their shoulders. Woodson needs to be the permanent safety when he comes back and Casey needs to move into his slot role imo.
