I am not thinking Super Bowl right now. I just want us to put together one good, physical, consistent game on both sides of the ball. Our O is good; our O is bad. Our D holds them; our D lets them run all over the field. Sometimes we have it all within the same game. I feel like we are Jekyll and Hyde. The only game I can recall where we were closest to putting it all together was the Texans game, and now we see how weak the AFC is. Until we put together at two dominant, or even physical and consistent games on both sides of the ball, I cannot think Super Bowl.

Inside looks, 3rd down, shotgun key for Eli

What are the three things that Manning did best based on our advanced statistical review?

Threw the ball inside: Manning succeeded in hitting his receivers on throws in between the painted numbers. He was 10-for-16 for 182 yards with all three of his touchdowns on those throws.

Shotgun: Manning was 8-for-10 for 92 yards and three touchdowns on his throws out of shotgun. He had gone 38-for-70 in it over his previous three games, with three interceptions and six sacks.

Moses can makes plays. He showed a lot tonight though it might not seem it. Never gave up and played hard the whole game through. Once Clay comes back he's the other guy and Perry's going to have a hell of a task earning his playing time back next year.

Safeties are scary bad right now. There's still miscommunication going on in the secondary and that falls directly on their shoulders. Woodson needs to be the permanent safety when he comes back and Casey needs to move into his slot role imo.

Nailed it..

Now what about pass pro?
the media will make a lot of this game. but the Packers defense minus Matthews and Woodson? A former DPOY and a perennial pro bowler who demands attention of every single snap? c'mon. it was bad, real bad. but honestly not that surprising.

i was surprised by how poor the offensive line was though. i did not expect it to be so awful. they have some major issues up there.
Positives:
+ Hayward and House.
+ One week closer to getting some guys back.
+ We averaged 4.5 yards per rush.
+ The sky is not falling. We are 7-4 and still have a strong shot at the division.

Negatives:
- O-line. Yes, the Giants have a strong defensive line, but geez....
- Our receivers having a tough time getting open. This is not the first time this has happened either. There is talent here, but without a stud #1 receiver (Jennings), this group no longer looks nearly as strong.
- Rodgers holding on to the ball for way too long at times. Wasn't a big deal made about this horn MM would blow during training camp after 2+ seconds so the QB would get the ball out faster? I know, i know.... no one open - see negative point #2 above...
- It seems like we are calling a lot of slow developing, intermediate and deep pass routes. I am no OC, but I would think some quick hitting short routes would help matters.
- We just plain got our a$$es kicked tonight.
Agree tit, which is why I put a lot of the blame on game planning with the coaching staff. Anybody that thought Newhouse could man up and block JPP and Umenyiora one on one is delusional. There should have been a TE permanently glued to Newhouse's hip the entire game. Sometimes you double the RDE, sometimes you chip him and roll out for a 5 yard pass to keep the chains moving. Instead, MM goes empty backfield while Arod is trying to find a receiver 20 yards down the field when he's running for his life.

Dum.
...and to make matters worse, GB was playing THE TEAM that came into Lambeau Field last year and whipped our asses to move on the playoffs. They ripped our ****ing hearts out and stomped on them in our god damn house.

We respond with this? No passion. No energy. No urgency. No motivation. Nothing? We get THIS steaming pile of ****??

But yea, it must be because CMIII and Woodson weren't there to save us from ourselves.
Another thing I noticed is how much attention Aaron has given towards Cobb. He's quickly becoming his favorite target which has its ups and downs. Aaron used to spread the ball evenly and threw it to the open man rather than what he's doing now (throwing it to his go to guy, Cobb). If I remember correctly, Jones didn't even get a single target and that int also should've never been thrown as JJ was open.

Almost nothing

Nearly everything

Offensive line already looked bad, and they were whipped up and down the field tonight. There are still a couple decent players out there that will be worth bringing back, but all together as a unit, they looked like five Tony Mandarichs. Keep Lang and Sitton as guards, put Newhouse and Dietrich-Smith back where they belong (on the bench as solid depth), and cut Saturday the day after the season. Then they need to target a new starting center (a big, solid run blocker in the style of a Frank Winters or Mike Flanagan) and some backup tackles who can at least act as depth (or possibly a plan B if Bulaga isn't ready and/or Sherrod doesn't pan out). Ted went all out to get the defense stabilized (seems to have paid off with the secondary in large part at least, pass rush is still relying on one player), and he went all out to solidify the guard spots in 2006. I think we're going to see something similar done next spring to correct these issues at center and tackle.

> not trying to down play it, but in the big picture this game means very little. the manner in which they lost is a little unsettling but the loss itself is not surprising.
> Hayward
> 7-4, still firmly in the playoff picture with much more important divisional games coming up and we should be getting some key guys back.

> Offensive line - yeah, by the far the most concerning thing about this loss. Packers are really going to struggle if they don't improve the pass pro. i feel like if they'd bring in a tight end and help out the tackles every once and a while it might help. MM has never been one to do that though.
> Pass rush. Non-existent without Matthews
> Defensive backfield. Seemed confused at times, left guys wide open, weren't themselves.

The big trouble tonight was that the Giants were able to pass rush up the middle against EDS and Saturday. Whatever help the Packers could give on the line had to be used to stop NY interior pass rush. Once the Packers could not do that the game was over.
To me it looks as though Saturday is done and EDS is not a guard. Those two are just getting crushed inside. My gut instinct is that the packers miss the playoffs with a 9-7 record. Too many good players have been lost and Ted has run out of the next guy in some positions.
This just is not the Packer season.

No, Newhouse has sucked all year. We can't keep making excuses for him. He can't block the mediocre guys, and just gets abused against these "tough defenses"
I agree on your other points. When changes were made due to Bulaga's injury, I was ready for Saturday to sit, and try EDS at Center. I don't see how it could be much worse, and might even be an improvement.
And speaking of communication issues, not only were the adjustments in protection ineffective, our guys were totally lost. Newhouse and EDS are running into each other watching the DE flatten ARod. There's a fundamental flaw in the scheme, or our guys are nowhere near as good as we might have thought.

Totally agree on game plan comments...on both sides of the ball, too.
It just may be me, but it seems as MM has developed his offense and plays over the years, they've gotten away from the plays that were staples of the WCO, and if we aren't hitting the big plays, we tend to sputter on offense. This would have been a perfect game to dink and dunk enough to put together sustained drives and keep their O off the field.
I also find it hard to believe there is nobody on our DL that can't beat Diehl, who was hhurting so bad he couldn't stay in the game. And even worse, the backup that came in. Their guys are just that damn good?
And it's not just limited to this game. A rookie lineman we've faced, a rookie backup with no experience comes into a game ice cold, linemen that are questionable due to injury...whatever the case is, we get no penetration against that position. I need Morgan Freeman to explain that for me!
++No major injuries

--The fact I changed the channel at halftime

It was simply "one of those games" where everything went right for the Giants and everything went wrong for the Packers. It happens. What I get tired of hearing is that the win meant more to the Giants than the Packers. Huh? They ALL matter. At the end of the year how many times do we look back at a game or there and say "what if" they had won that game (back when) and unfortunately the Packers already have one of those v Seattle. The Packers are still in good position for the playoffs but it's not like they are a guarantee at this point anymore for the division.

Oh well, go get the Vikings next week.

Disagree completely. Not a good game from Marshall for sure, but to say he hasn't played well all year is ridiculous.

Not much. In the big picture the game really doesn't matter much but I still would have liked a better performance.

Certainly the execution wasn't there, but MM once again got outcoached badly against the Giants.
It's been said before, saying it now, it will be said again.

The Packers sorely miss Nick Collins out there. I don't think Morgan Burnett is horrible but he needs a real safety playing next to him. Maybe down the road that's McMillon or Jennings but Collins loss left a gaping hole at safety that even Woodson can't quite fill.

The OL is what it is. There is no one waiting stage left to come in and save the day. The Packers have to make do with what's there. But MM also has to plan better when facing teams like this or the 49ers when we see them again. This is yet another game where MM is in some fog and fails to make any kind of adjustment, get chip help, throw in a Kuhn or even a guy like Quarless to help block.

If MM keeps Crosby from trying what was a ridiculous attempt and Hayward intercepts what likely would have been a pick 6 at their 25 yard line, perhaps it's a different game and at least closer. But again, I felt energy sucked out there and this team just wasn't feeling it.

As per usual with MM's history, look for a thorough ass kicking by the Packer's next week with the Queens at home. Exit Dr. Jekyll. Enter Mr. Hyde.

Sometimes it's the plays you don't make that get you beat:
1. MM inexpicably has Crosby try a 55 yd fg (Crosby had to have tole MM he could make from there). Of course, it's wide left and 2 minutes later the Gints are in the end zone.
2. Heyward drops his int opportunity. Webster does not. Momentum changing plays that they make and we do not.

The realization that is setting in when looking at the playoffs. It's pretty clear the Packers cannot compete in the trenches against the likes of the Niners and Gints. Given that they are both in the NFC, how are the Packers going to win either of those games? Maybe we'll luck out and be in the opposite bracket from one of them, but watching those two games yesterday (Niners-Aints & Packers-Gints) does not give me a good feeling on how this season will end. cry
this is getting a little old:

quote:
β€œWe had a plan. We didn't execute it very well. We got away from it,” McCarthy said. β€œWe went to some spread things and that wasn't the answer. That was probably poor play selection on my part. But they did a hell of a job tonight. They were dynamic, very talented and very productive."

Added Rodgers: β€œThey did a lot of the things that everybody else has done against us β€” two-high for most of the game and we didn’t execute very well. Teams are going to play us like this so we’re going to have to have answers and execute better than we’ve done most of the season. We talked about doing some different things but we came out and didn’t really do those things. Didn’t execute, didn’t allow ourselves to do some of the adjustments that we wanted to do and didn’t score any points.”

MM is not coaching the team he has but the team he thinks he has.
He's gotta get a better understanding of what his team is capable of. I thought the Detroit game would do that for him but it didn't.
And at the beginning of the 4th quarter when they were down there knocking on the door, why did he NOT have Crosby kick a FG? The game was already over, let the man get some practice. But no, go for it, fail and nothing gained.
