Wonder why did MM made Cosby try an 50+ FG in the second series.
I think the call was terrible. Everybody knew it was going to be a tough/close game.
Your PK is coming from terrible games and you actually would like to buid confidence in him. Why force him to make a 50yarder?
Masthay and Bush have been putting the ball inside their 20yd line all season.
Didnt understand the call at all.
I took any time of momentum we had.
Pablo? You forgot the part about a long, painful season.....
It's no big deal to lose the the Giants at Ny or anywhere for that matter. It is a big deal to not be competitive and completely outplayed. At what postition were the Packers better last nite? OL? DL? Recievers? Running backs? Linebackers? DB's? And I daresay QB? Coaching?
Lot's of work to be done in the next couple of weeks. Need the D guys back on the field and healthy (Matthews, Woody, Sheilds) and the O needs to figure out a blocking scheme that allows that 2.5 seconds giving #12 a shot at locating and hitting a open reciever.

i'm pretty sure mcarthy will have the players attention this week. you can mail it in against jax and ariz. and still win. can't do that against the giants.
I was prepared to handle a loss in NY but not a butt whoopin.
Chalk me in as someone who thinks this loss is more than "no big deal."
While it is silly to undervalue extreme talent in the passing game skill positions, my concern is also the trenches.
Here is some devil's advocate for the idea it is no big deal. I think the Giants mentality with Green Bay is "We're gonna kick their asses on the LoS on both sides of the ball and let's see what they can do about it."

quote:Your ignorance is showing. Tackling Satisfaction Factor (TSF) is 1/7th of the total defensive BFI. It is equal to, but completely different than, the Mustache Quotient for offensive players.
So valuing corners who enjoy run support is being ignorant.. Got it. Actually, I don't. Me thinks you are forming your opinion to fit our current personnel.. Would you feel the same way if the Packers had Antoine Winfield and Tim Jennings?
I finally had the energy to get out of bed this morning. Did anyone get the license of that truck.
Yes it is very worrying.
Yes this team is not in a position today to beat SF or the Giants. But those games are done and
Yes, I think the Packers can still beat the Bears, Viking and Lions to get to the playoffs.
No, they are not going to find a magical replacement for Bulaga or become a dominating running team.
Maybe, they will get some players back, probably Mathews, but the way their injured players recover who knows.
No, the season is not over, take care of division business.
Yes, this team will have to deal with this loss mentally. But no team is as bad as they can appear or as good as they can appear in any given week.
The Packers went on the road against a good team, which had been reeling, had a bye and were motivated to show they still belonged. The Packers in addition had been decimated by injuries, come off a very physical game on the road and committed several mental (including coaching) and physical errors early in a game they couldn't afford to.
I am giving them another week, If they look like this next week then maybe:
Everybody Panic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU0PijNCEwo

When he guesses wrong and an OL or FB get's their hands on him he's done. Or in the case when the FB got him Hawk was able to shed the block and limit the gain to 11 yards.....
The Packers as whole were a big embarrassment last night.
I too noticed Hawk was out of position and taking bad angles. He looked real bad.

Bottom line is that TT gambled by going into this season with razor thin depth at Offensive line when he should have considered dipping into free agency for some depth. Saturday is playing poorly and with Bulaga's injury, we have Lang playing out of position and EDS playing guard when he probably should be the starting center. It's hard to nit-pick on TT because he has done a great job running this team, but O-line has been his weakness. The top threats to the Packers in the NFC are SF, NYG and Bears, and each has a solid defense led by outstanding D-lines. To enter a season with no viable backups - other than rookies and undrafted free agents - was suicidal and the Packers are paying for it now.
You forgot to mention that TT passed at the trade deadline as well. TT should have been looking for help after that terrible o-line effort in Seattle.
@OfficialAJHawk
We did not get it done last night. We will regroup and figure things out. Looking forward to getting back to Lambeau! Vikings week!

In theory that would have been the thing to do. In reality though, I think most teams are fairly short on O-Line depth and aren't looking to trade quality players unless it's some sort of blockbuster deal. Trades just don't happen much anymore with the way the salary cap works.
a previous poster noted that MM vowed to not ever get caught up
game planning 1 featured reciever (Finley 2010), yet here he is
doing it again with Cobb, and this is the second recent game that
he stated that he game planned poorly. Who's going to get MM's attention
and get things corrected ?? This is a Super Bowl winning coach !!

Yeah, wasn't James Jones wide open on the sideline when Rodgers threw that bone head pass behind Cobb for an int.

Bulaga really struggled in that game and that's hardly a reason to push the panic button.
It wasn't a bonehead interception. Webster jumped the route and made a good play. He shouldn't have been in the position to intercept it. It still shouldn't have been thrown to Cobb, but it is what it is.

At that early point in the game and the nice long pass to Nelson, he had no idea of what was about to happen after the miss. I was ok with the choice. It would have been a big boost for Crosby and the team's confidence in him.
As it was Crosby just missed. It was a good miss too because I think the cross wind blew it off target because you could see the flags fluttering to the left.

do we need to go over BFI 101 again?
Regarding MM going for a 55 yard FG attempt, I wonder if he would have been so aggressive had Crosby NOT been in a huge slump.
I agree with those saying MM is falling into the same trap with Cobb as he did in 2010 with Finley, which is putting such an emphasis on one receiver that the whole offense shuts down once defenses focus on stopping that one player.
I truly think MM needs to start employing more multiple tight end sets in the passing game. This would re-involve Finley, and Crabtree and Williams are decent receivers as well. Having two or three TEs can give the offense more flexibility on who stays in for pass protection and who goes out for a receiving route. With opposing teams using the Cover 2 to shut down the Packers, the offense might as well try to attack the middle of the field with said multiple TEs. If nothing else, it would likely be more effective than repeatedly running up the middle for no gain.

Mcginn's asinine article about high five's is not the same as talking about a defensive players demeanor toward tackling.
I'm hoping your just playing, but I can't tell.
Other than Finley not knowing a play/dropping a ball, he was solid. He actually attempted to block and got open. Aaron needs to throw to Finley and stop focusing so much on Cobb. Finley has been putting in the effort and he's right even though his approach/comments are wrong. We need to throw it to him when he's open unless he fails to improve.

I actually had no idea what was your concern in the first place, I assumed the post you quoted was so far detached from reality in the first place that no one would possibly take it for real.
Doesn't change that I still think Grave Digger's ignorance is showing and BFI is still the penultimate ESPN stat.
high five!

That's funny because I've lost count of the number of times posters here have been begging and pleading for Cobb to get the ball more.
What went wrong was we were playing a team that embarrassed us at home in the play offs last year and the players claim they lacked emotion. No excuse for not being ready to play the Giants in what should have been a grudge game.
This game should have been circled on their calender.
This game should have been circled on their calender.
There is one big problem with the Packers offence. Rogers has been sacked 37 times already this year. Rivers the next QB on the sack list has been sacked 32 times. That is 3.36 times a game. He is on paced to be sacked 54 times this year.
Forget about play calling or which receiver is getting the ball, at this point MM just needs to keep Rodgers from getting killed. Ted and MM might be thinking we need to get through this season and then fix the O- line and find a TE or Running back that can exploit all the 2 deep coverage the packers are seeing.
I am not sure the playoffs are in the Cards for the Packers this year.

Ridiculous.
Careful, you'll be put in the "bedwetter club". You've entered the "Do Not Question" zone.
..this from writer's film study:
"Tramon Williams (63 snaps) is becoming a real liability as a tackler. He didn't want any part of Bradshaw on the screen, turning toward Hynoski even though the charging Bradshaw was closer to him. He played patty-cake with Rueben Randle, turning his 6-yard catch into 10. It appeared that at the line Manning was changing the direction of runs toward Williams when it was clear what side he was on. There are tough CBs all over the league who knife in to prevent break-out runs. Not Williams, who isn't fighting to separate from WRs. Even Manning knew the book on Williams and drove a shoulder at him in the open field rather than slide. Future opponents might tailor their ground game at No. 38 once this tape gets around. Hayward (21) had another strong game covering Victor Cruz except for a dropped interception early. Davon House (63), who started over Hayward in base because the coaches preferred size against Hakeem Nicks, allowed two TD passes and a 30-yarder. He's still learning and at times seems a little stiff. House did show Nick Collins-like speed and hustle chasing down Bradshaw on the screen. At least he battled. Morgan Burnett (65) missed two vital tackles and showed little route recognition or burst on a 25-yard completion to Nicks. M.D. Jennings (44) and Jerron McMillian (30) weren't on their games, either."

Tramon Williams has been less physical since the shoulder injury. He has been an ongoing disappointment. Thankfully they've hit on Hayward and House.
Alex Green is another disappointment. McCarthy says how high they are on him...and maybe they are just high---He had a couple of seams to run thru Monday and was caught before he got to them. I don't know if he's lost quickness since the knee injury or what. I was surprised when he got the call on 3rd and one.
On the positive side of things---like test scores--throw out the Texans game and throw out the Giants game and you have the real Packers--a scrappy team that has a terrible O-line but a spectacular QB...they are far from the best, but could string a couple of playoff wins together.

It's definitely Tramon's shoulder. He never avoided contact before the injury and was very physical in 2010. I wonder if he reinjured it, isn't fully healed yet, or just has it in his head that he has to protect it from further harm.
