Forgot about Starks bongers.

Very good point. I think he's probably gone.

My list of who's bye bye now:

Jennings.
Driver.
Saturday.
Zombo.
Starks.
Grant.

Im hoping Woody will restructure. But if he won't re-do his contract, I can't see TT paying that kind of money for a 37 year old corner.

This these two stay. Woodson is aging and quite frankly he isnt worth the price. I dont think there is a huge difference without him to be honest and his penalties are generally killers. We have a plethora of young db's in House, Heyward, Shields, etc....I think the money could be better spent elsewhere.

I really like Harris though and I dont think he gets enough credit for his running this year. He was the ONLY back who continually moved forward and got yardage. Even when nothing was there he always seemed to get a yard or two and quite frankly is the only one outside of Starks who has homerun ability. He needs to work on his receiving and with a better line, tink he could really be something pretty special.
Finely should be gone. Hope he figures his **** out. Just somewhere else.

Jennings should be gone. Got his ring, got his money, have a good rest of your career, Greg. Enter: Randall Cobb.

Driver should be gone. Thanks DD.

Saturday should've never been here, he's gone.

Grant and Benson should both be gone.

Woodson should be gone. Unless someone on here wants to justify paying him $10 million

Hawk and Jones should both stay. If they were forced to choose I'd say Jones.

Zombo and Walden should both be gone. Long gone.

DuJuan Harris should stay and play a bigger role in the offense next year. He's an exciting player.

Sam Shields will be an RFA, he needs to be resigned.

EDS will be a RFA, he also needs to be signed.

Tom Crabtree will also be a FA, not sure what to think. Crowd favorite for sure, but he didn't have a particularly good year. I'd say let him go and draft a big, young TE.
Isnt Finley under contract for next year? I dont see him being cut/traded. He had "decent" numbers for a TE. He's not now or will never be Shannon Sharpe, he is what he is and thats an average to above average TE. Nothing spectacular though.
God help me but I'd keep Finley if he's willing to sign a reasonable contract based on his production, and Dejuan Harris (as a depth guy, cheap, no FA years accrued). I like Greg Jennings and all but I don't think keeping him is going to happen. The rest are a combo of old and suck in various degrees. I don't know if I believe in Woodson's retirement plan as a safety. Get younger and more athletic at any position you can IMO.
Hawk should go, period. He has cement shoes and why Capers keeps putting him in coverage is beyond me. Woodson has replacements on the roster and should go as well. His cap number wont justify his playing and honestly, its time to move forward.
I think that the current level of talent in this team has reached a plateau. As I see it, the Pack is at a crossroads, falling dangerously close to mid-pack in terms of talent level compared to the rest of an admittedly strong NFC (i.e. the Giants, Cowboys, Saints, etc... not making the playoffs should be taking as a strong point). And the schedule next year certainly won't help.

Obviously, a lot depends on injury status (i.e. are Bishop, Sherrod, Perry, Worthy, Bulaga going to come back healthy).

If they do, the Packers have some flexibility in cleaning house and letting most of the players above go (the strongest questions being Jennings and Finley, who really improved as the year went on).

My question is the following. Knowing TT's build-through-the-draft philosophy, is he content enough with backup depth to just sit back at the current draft position and pick BPA? Or, would it be preferable to emulate the Falcons and essentially give up an entire draft for a marquee player that could be affordable for a few years (i.e. Julio Jones). I am strongly inclined to think that a marquee back would greatly help our offensive line from mediocre to very good, help Aaron's sacks, and greatly improve TOP for the team.

I am not being critical of Thompson or McCarthy or Capers for that matter. I am not making excuses for the injuries but there is just a limit to the capacity of any team to overcome them in the salary cap era. I would look very carefully at the strength and conditioning program since the statistics of missed time, etc... are just awful during the past 2 years.

So, TT has his work cut out for him as a top GM. All this with the contract status to Matthews and AR lurking in the background. I hope that he can strike magic again, and that the team can be competitive next year against bruiser teams.
should be gone
1) Capers

Maybe not:
Jennings, I just do not think he will get the money he wants, he maybe back with the Pack just like Jone had to do a couple of years ago.
Finley will be back for the last year of his contract.
Woodson maybe gone.

He has one year left on a deal that if IIRC pays him around 7.5 million.

He had 667 yards and 2 TD's. Granted he played much better at the close of the season but he also disappeared in the playoffs for the most part.

He has yet to come even remotely close to his 2009/early 2010 form.

I wouldn't be shocked if they kept him but there's no denying 7.5 mil is ALOT for that kind of production. I think TT could find a much cheaper option to put up those kind of numbers.
Any scenario that doesn't have A.J. Hawk gone lacks credibility. You can't rant about Woodson, Finley or Jennings and ignore his salary in comparison to what he actually does. Brad Jones made more impact plays and that was after GB ran out of inside linebackers.

Signed a two-year, $14 million contract. The deal included a $1 million signing bonus. Another $1 million is available through incentives. Finley is eligible for $300,000 offseason workout bonuses in each season. 2012: $950,000 (+ $3.5 million roster bonus), 2013: $4.45 million (+ $3.5 million roster bonus due in March),

Actually he's closer to nearly 8 mil in 2013. That's one big bonus coming up in March.
2013 Cap hits according to

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/green-bay-packers

Woodson 10 million
Finley 8.75 million
Hawk 7 million
Kuhn 2.4 million
Crosby 3.1 million

How many of those guys are worth that. Consider the cap hits that are coming after 2013 when these relatively cheap guys are up for new contracts after 2013 (I'm counting Rodgers whose contract needs to be redone the following year).

Matthews 2.6 million
Raji 6.2 million
Jones 3.7 million
Rodgers 10.2 million

That's about 23 million dollars. Here's some comparable players hit caps.

Brees 17 million
DeMarcus Ware 12 million
Ngata 12 million

I don't know what the best comp is to Jones, but 6 million is probably a good guess.

We're looking at at least 40 million for those 4 guys. We can't keep old, expensive guys and resign that core.
JerMichael Finley. Gone if he won't restructure which I doubt he does.

Greg Jennings. WWill only be back if the Packers offer is the highest. No hometown discount from him.

Donald Driver. Thanks for ALL you have done DD, but you're done.

Jeff Saturday. Fire Campen, make him OL coach.

Ryan Grant. One of my favorites the last few years, but he's gone.
Charles Woodson.Time to cut ties. Money better spent elsewhere.

AJ Hawk. Replaceable. CYA.

Frank Zombo. Bye-Bye. Preseason sensation only

Erik Walden. Most easily replaced guy on the roster.

Brad Jones. Stays. Low cost depth.

Dejuan Harris. He will absolutely be back, but will he make the training camp cuts?

Cedric Benson. Back. He already signed vet minimum contract last season, will do so again because nobody else comes knocking.

Sam Sheilds. Back. Played better than Tramon down the stretch IMHO.

EDS Back. Starting center unless one is drafted or FA signing.
Finley? Why? He's finally maturing into the TE he can be, and you want to get rid of him now? No way.

Finley is 25 years old. All he really needed was to grow up, and come back from his injury. He's done both. Get rid of him now and you'll regret it, IMO.
You can't put that many $$$$$ for that limited production. We need $$$$$ to extend Clay, Aaron, Jordy, Jones, get some different or extend current OL and Raji needs to be taken care of too. We are pretty well set at DB with all the young ones we got now.
after watching last nights game, I'm in favor of tagging Jennings and letting Raji walk next year.

To get the money for the tag, restructure Hawk and Wood. If they are not willing, start packing.
JerMichael Finley--he will stay
Greg Jennings...gone, however he didn't have huge playmaker numbers this year, maybe he'll return.
Donald Driver....retires
Jeff Saturday....retires
Ryan Grant....gone
Charles Woodson...restructure contract
AJ Hawk...goodbye
Frank Zombo...goodbye
Erik Walden...resigns
Brad Jones..goodbye
Dejuan Harris...he's part of the future
Cedric Benson...maybe if motivated
Disappointed in Jenning's attitude, but at least he's honest.

TyDunne Asked 85 what the most difficult part about leaving GB would be -- "I don't know if there's a difficult part. I'm excited for the future."

The change of heart does seem fairly sudden. During the 2010 run, he was a team-first guy all the way, or so it seemed.

It could be he was just doing what his agent told him to maximize his endorsement deals.

I think his sister's comments reflected what Jennings really thinks. He wants his money. He'd play for the Jaguars if they gave him the most money.

Greg Jennings. 90% gone. Looks like he's already checked out.

Donald Driver. 100% gone. I think he sees the writing on the wall. Thanks for everything.

Jeff Saturday. See: Driver

Ryan Grant. 100% gone. Good to see him again, but he's done.

Charles Woodson. 50% gone. Can't seriously see him getting cut even with his huge money that's owed.

AJ Hawk. 100% gone. Can we include Winston Moss on that bus too?

Frank Zombo. 100% gone. Got lucky to make this year's squad.

Erik Walden. 100% gone. Always thought he was overrated. Even if he's resigned, I'm sure a rookie will push him out.

Brad Jones. 35% gone. Can be brought in for cheap to push for a spot.

Dejuan Harris. 0% gone. He's a keeper.

Cedric Benson. 75% gone. Could be brought back cheaply I suppose.

Also Francois is missing. He should be dumped as well.

Come to think of it, it wasn't the content of her opinion he commented on, only "C'mon man, don't do that to me...I'm not saying it's right, I'm not saying it's wrong, it's her opinion."

Yeah she's not wrong, Greg. Rodgers sucks. Roll Eyes So do you.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out, either. (deleted)

Oh look! The annual slackjaw siting! The idiot makes his standard prediction and then backpedals until he goes into his hole.

Yeah, all those guys that were injured are obviously completely out of the equation. Add in that list is mostly old vets with contract issues or 2nd stringers. Not exactly a who's who list.

You plug in a good center with depth on the interior and this team is different altogether. That doesn't even include what happens on the defensive side of the ball. A proven, young backfield. Bishop and Perry returning. Jones stepping up in the middle providing good depth/rotation at minimum.

Harris and Jones. The rest is sorted out by contract negotiation. Draft well as always.

Disagree. We need him. Williams can't catch a cold; get rid of him.

Greg Jennings. WWill only be back if the Packers offer is the highest. No hometown discount from him.

After missing so many games he may be more affordable than you think. Great team guy. Keep.

Donald Driver. Thanks for ALL you have done DD, but you're done.
Yep.

Jeff Saturday. Fire Campen, make him OL coach.
Bye.

Ryan Grant. One of my favorites the last few years, but he's gone.
Bye.
Charles Woodson.Time to cut ties. Money better spent elsewhere.
Wood can at least tackle. Keep.

AJ Hawk. Replaceable. CYA.
Bye. Also Lattimore and Manning. Wastes of roster spots.

Frank Zombo. Bye-Bye. Preseason sensation only
Bye.

Erik Walden. Most easily replaced guy on the roster.
Had some games where he was one of our best rushers. Keep.

Brad Jones. Stays. Low cost depth.
Horrible, get rid of him!

Dejuan Harris. He will absolutely be back, but will he make the training camp cuts?
Best bet for next year. Keep!

Cedric Benson. Back. He already signed vet minimum contract last season, will do so again because nobody else comes knocking.

Worth a try.

Sam Sheilds. Back. Played better than Tramon down the stretch IMHO.
Keep

EDS Back. Starting center unless one is drafted or FA signing.

Alex green, goodbye! James Starks, bye.
It's a business. Jennings knows this is his last chance to get a huge contract.

If it was me, I would go to another team too.

How much do you think the Vikings or Bears or Lions would pay for Jennings?

Did you forget he went to school in Western Michigan? Calvin Johnson & Greg Jennings. That'll be fun
I think some of you guys almost take it personally when Jennings talks. What do you want him to say? That he'll take any amount of money to stay in Green Bay? He already said his time here was special and that his teammates will be friends for life. Who among you wouldn't wait to see if another team would offer multi-millions for your services? As a Husband and dad, if you have offers that would give your family financial freedom for life, you'd be stupid not to listen.
