He won't be TT's first pick. But it's no surprise GB went to the Senior Bowl to talk with Quinton Patton
Patton fits the Jones and Jennings model of wides the Packers like to take in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. 5' 11" 188 pounds
It's all about Honey Badger. Shorter than Ahmad Carroll and a much worse attitude (as well as the failed drug tests) can not mask the supreme talent that is Mescaline Smurf!
I wonder how many pre-draft mocks have been correct in predicting who TT picks. Just by %.
80%, simply because there are so many of them.
I remember when I picked 17 of the first round picks correctly. I put the names in an envelope and sent them to patty. Everyone was really impressed and it is a big reason why I am a draft guru.

Marcus Lattimore in the 4th.
Love the idea, but that knee shredding was beyond anything I've seen. Was watching that game and it totally turned my stomach. When the trainers got to him, they literally had to put his leg back into alignment; it looked like he had a bow leg. I cannot imagine the pain he had to have been feeling. And since he already tore up the other one, I might take a flyer but it wouldn't be above the seventh round. Yes, Peterson was able to do it on one leg, but not twice like Lattimore would have to. From everything I've read, Lattimore is a quality kid and a great player, but...
Whatever TT does, we won't expect it so speculation is worthless.
I think McGahee's injury at miami was comparable though it was his first. He wasn't AS good when he came back but he still had a good deal of success on sundays.
I just got through scanning a dozen different mocks and there were a dozen different picks for GB at #27. Not an exaggeration. Check WalterFootball for a list of mocks.
It is to early for the mocks, wait until after the combines and pro days. The Best mock guys do not go by team needs but take there clues from who the teams are watching. A great mock guy may only get 3 of all a teamβs pick right. Most get none right.
Actually great mock guys can get 10-12 picks right. That guy from the Dallas newspaper (Rick Gosselin maybe?) gets a ton of picks right every year. Even McShay and Kiper probably average 6-8 right picks.
With all those correct picks has anyone in the industry ever gotten TT's 1st pick correct?
I think there were a lot of people who saw the AJ Hawk pick coming. There were several people who predicted Derek Sherrod to GB. Some people adamantly disagree, but Thompson goes best player available almost all the time IMO. It's difficult to know what direction he will go until you see how the rest of the 1st round has gone because that direction is what dictates where he'll draft what position. I think he's always looking a round or two ahead of where he's at, trying to guess if a quality player at that position he wants will be available later or does he have to take the best player at that position now. When he does want a player, he gets that player...Casey Hayward, Clay Matthews, Jerel Worthy, etc. are great examples of that.

I know, running backs in the first round don't make much sense in the NFL any more. But I love the idea of the Packers finally getting a No. 1 back who can threaten a defense, and I'm convinced Aaron Rodgers will second that motion. Time to add a consistent element to the at times non-existent Green Bay running game. The Packers know what Ball has done down in Madison the past three years, and let's face it, all the guy does is score touchdowns. Believe it or not, there's still a place for that in the NFL.

Don Banks says Montee

not happening in the first round.
I would be extremely shocked if TT does not draft front 7 on defense or offensive line. I know he doesn't necessarily draft for "need", but it seems that is where the talent is this year at the top of the draft. Put a guy like Barrett Jones, Chance Warmack (who likely won't fall) or Jonathon Cooper in our line and I promise Harris, Starks, Benson and Green will look like legit RB's. But put a legit RB behind our line and he'd look just like the guys we have (unless it's an AP-like talent).
I like Montee Ball, I think he's an every down back, but I don't know about in round 1. I'd take his teammate Travis Frederick in round 1 and trade up for Ball in round 2, but I don't know about round 1, that seems awfully high. I like Ball though, he reminds me of Tiki Barber (from a performance side, not personality side).
Can Ball block and catch the ball, and is he assignment-sure? That will go a long way to determining if he ends up in GB. Need a screen threat and a guy out of the backfield who can catch, as well as an every-down back who can protect Rodgers from blitzers.

The more I think about it, the more I believe the Packers should spend their time focusing the draft on the middle of the field. In no specific order:
RB
C
DT
MLB
S
Hell, I'd place it in that order.
"dumdums" (plural)? Dude, I am the one that suggested the order as presented.
Okay, how about about RB in the 2nd round? I just want to see a GD running game where other teams may have to at least half-a$$ respect for a change! I know the o-line sucks, but I am not all that thrilled with our current roster of running backs.

Yes. 6 out of the past 7 years.
I was wrong about the Jordy Nelson pick.
Ansah tearing it up at the senior bowl today. The guys is everywhere.
