However, there USED to be a wonderful gent on here (Jeff Ash, I believe) who was a sports writer for a Green Bay newspaper.

If I recall correctly, he used to post here every year during training camp with some great analysis and observations on how all the rooks (and vets) were playing.  That was some great stuff.

I don't recall Jeff Ash ever posting here, but you can still follow him on Twitter.
Back in '95 I was living in Thailand and Jeff's Packer news emails were my only connection with the home team. (text only account and IT was expensive)

You may be thinking of Eternal Game Face who did a great job on training camp posts.

Jeff Ash rocks. His postings on some site somewhere (pre-dating x4) were the first "local" Packer ones that I found on the web back in the early to mid-1990s other than the JSO and GBPG. He did a lot of offseason and TC observations as well as NE Wisconsin doings, good stuff for an expat like myself. I don't remember his being on x4 either.

Jeff was laid off a few months back from the GBPG and if he's found new work, he hasn't reported it yet. He has two Twitter feeds, the personal one is @JeffAshGB and another is @packers656667, a project of his where he is tweeting 50 year-to-the-day excerpts from the GBPG archives over 1965-1967 (those years marking the historic Packer 3-in-a-row NFL championships), stuff about the Packers but also local GB coverage of performing arts and significant politics. Great stuff and great follows.

I've had several Twitter exchanges with him and he's a good chap.

That's a rough one.  Having been the subject of age discrimination (along with several co-workers) 3 years ago and a huge downsizing in salary and benefits along with a disabled wife, I truly sympathize.  He always seemed like a great guy, and I hope he finds a good gig soon.  Just over 2 weeks and I'm retired; cannot wait!

No, I wasn't thinking of Eternal Game Face, though I remember those posts from training camps, and they were indeed full of good detail and observations.

Whatever happened to the guy who was a N.Y. stock trader who was always so critical of the G.M. and Head Coach????  Can't remember his handle.

I'm not sayin, but I'm just sayin.

What is with the Micah Hyde is a racist jokes?  I missed something.

I, being your friend and humble host of the annual X4 Draft Party, received a number of PMs from various, anonymous sources with all sorts of theories, the main undercurrent being that at some point in the past, Hyde had several disparaging comments to his white teammates. I hate to give these rumors any kind of recognition or validity, but apparently Sitton gets rather sensitive about being called a "Marshmallow." That was just one out of many, many accusations.

I remember reading the “ice the cookies” post when it happened. I couldn’t believe it. Person had to be sarcastic. That was the best.

The best part was that it wasn't sarcasm.   Dude stopped watching a mid to late December game with playoff implication and went to the kitchen to ice the cookies.   The man had seen enough and the best distraction he could come up with was icing the cookies.
