I'm liking the picks so far, though I have limited knowledge of some of these guys. So I'm basing that on the position they play and the ratings of them by "experts."

By the way, anyone notice that NFLnetwork at least spent some time talking about both of our 4th round picks?   Checking my DVR, but I see no review of those picks on ESPN at all.   Drives me crazy!

One of our last 2 picks will be a wide receiver.  Count on it!   Ted likes his WR's!   And consider how lame Montgomery was at season's end, even after sitting out many games.   Jordy is coming back from a major injury.   Who knows if he will be 100%.   Cobb was injured in the Cards game.  Who knows if he'll be 100%?   And Davante Adams sucked.   I think Ted (and maybe MM) wants an extra tool in the box!

Trevor Davis

Strengths

Quality return man specializing in kickoffs with two touchdowns under his belt while at Cal. Former high school long jumper and sprinter with buildup speed to challenge deep safeties from the hash. Competitive runner after the catch with ability to make defenders miss and finish his runs with some authority. Hands are adequate.

Weaknesses

Track speed doesn't translate underneath. Needs runway to get going and can't hit jets out of his breaks for separation. Needs to improve hard vertical push to clear space for comebacks and outs. One-speed, rounded routes need work. Struggles to release cleanly against quality press coverage

Draft Projection

Rounds 6 or 7

Sources Tell Us

"He's a pretty good returner. I don't see him being drafted, but he could make a team as a return man and last receiver on the depth chart." -- NFC West scout

Disagree.  GB currently has 6 NFL caliber WR's on the roster with the low man being Abby.  I'm not interested in shipping any of our current guys down the road for a late round pick.

I told ya.   Ted likes lots and lots of WR's in camp, and is always willing to roll the dice.  And this may show that either Monty or Cobb are far from certain of being 100% for the start of the season.   And/or that he's ready to let Adams walk.  Yes, there will be competition at WR in camp.   As they always say, that's good.   May the best man win!

Pretty sure a WR was a lock as soon as I posted that... I think we have enough of them but WTF do I know.

It probably bodes worst for Abby than anyone.

No matter how we feel about the picks, there's probably not 7 roster spots open anyway, even adding in the 5 PS spots.  You can't teach speed and we do need more of that.  Janis! could worry a bit too, but he's got experience now AND speed, but he's iffy on returning spotting the ball.  Then again, we've seen KR/PR specialists drafted before and they couldn't do squat when it came to live NFL football.
