“Then when we work on the field, there’s going to be times where Jason might take the strong safety and one corner, I might take a free safety and one corner. Ryan might take the stars (nickel corner position), and then the next day I might just take the corners, and I might just take the safeties. The next day, I might take the safeties, and Jason – we’re going to work in a group mindset that everybody’s going to hear and understand what everybody is doing.”

If you didn’t watch any Packers secondary play the last 2 years but you read the above paragraph. You would wager a fairly substantial amount of money there was confusion in the secondary.

Agreed.

Good riddens.

Gebbins to the new coaches brought in... I prey they aren't idots!

AVP's contract was up at the end of 2017. Who knows if AVP wanted to return? Contract was not renewed, but he may have asked for that thinking he could get an OC or even a HC job/look?

tough beans, AR, is my take on that.  you're a player, play.

Agreed, why would you want to discuss something like that with the guy that you owe your livelihood and frankly any semblance of success to.

On one hand. There’s a faint whiff of Favre in Rodgers comments.

On the other. He’s not wrong to wonder out loud why he wasn’t even consulted. It makes no sense given MM was pretty much exposed for not preparing a competitive team without AR.

Didnt hear the interview. Quick question. How did the AVP topic come up? Did Wingo start it or did AR go there on his own.

Going to be an interesting year.

No that's too much. Don't start consulting players with coaching decisions. Don't include players with staff decisions. Rodgers may have liked AVP, but it's clear AVP wasn't doing much in developing other QBs. If he did consult Rodgers it should have been "your getting a new QB coach."

McCarthy doesn't micromanage position groups, even ones he specializes in. It was AVP's group to get ready to play. Rodgers pretty much takes care of himself, so really AVP just had to get 2 backup players ready to play in case something happened and he sh*t the bed. Hell Hundley seemed to play better when Rodgers was coaching him on the sidelines. McCarthy made the right choice, Rodgers needs to learn to live with it. I'm sure it will be fine, Rodgers has disagreed before and never let it get things off track.

Really doesn't quite add up.

Wingo was asking him about the off season changes and getting back to 2010/11 levels.

And, during the question Rodgers interjected "lots of curious changes", and Wingo finished the question with a what do you need to do to get back to SB type end.

Rodgers stated without hesitation, "looking at 3 of the final 4 teams, they had great defenses, we need a championship defense".

They chatted a bit more, then Wingo came back to "well what were the curious changes" and AR went straight for "Curious my QB coach wasn't asked to return, and it's curious that I wasn't even consulted about it".

1. He was VERY clear that the main thing they need to improve to get back to SB is a better defense.

2. I *think* Wingo assumed the "curious" comment was going to be about TT moving on, because he threw in a "well you have a new GM in Russ Ball" during the "what were curious changes" question. And yeah, obviously was wrong and AR corrected him that Ball wasn't GM.

3. AR sounded clearly frustrated about AVP though. Not saying he's Favre bitching about Moss here. Not saying he's trying to be GM. Not saying he should be allowed to be GM. But he was clearly pissed that AVP is not back and he didn't hide that frustration at all.

There's a lots of runway between "Not asking any players for any opinions. Just play bitch" to "Let's ask all 53 players their opinions on their coaches before we do anything". I think it's a poor decision to not even ask the opinion of the best player on the team that literally is the difference between 12-4 and 3-13 in a private setting about his position coach not being retained.

A team, by definition is on one side, or the same side. A schism is between opposed parties. So, not a team.

You're near the jeenyus level of jaymo. The two of you remind me of this dumb ass satirical morning show team that no one liked - Taint and Teabag in the Morning. Only question, are you Taint or Teabag?

Tainted teabag.

Is he mad he AVP wasn't retained or is he mad he wasn't consulted on who to hire? I'm honestly surprised they didn't hire Rich Gannon, who was close to taking the Oakland QB coach job. Perhaps Rodgers doesn't like Cignetti?

And here’s the best part. You can’t change it now. Because if you do you’re admitting you ****ed everything up by making the stupid assed decision you did.

Thats what’s happening.

To be fair to Cignetti, Eli has never really been that good of a QB. Just good enough to not screw up what his defense was giving him. He's a miracle catch and a SF fumble away from having no Super Bowls.

But Van Pelt **** the bed because he couldn't make Hundley a good QB?

Van Pelt got him from Day 1 and for 3 years. Cignetti worked with Eli for 2 years when he had already established bad habits.

A QB coach is pretty much doing one thing, hopefully.  As far as who is on the field. he is coaching one player, in this case Rodgers.

Bullschit!!!  Aaron Rodgers is not the only QB on the Packers roster.  Van Pelt was the coach of all of them.

Sounds to me Rodg is feigning concern to drive up his new contract.

That's not very "Packer people" of him.

You don't know jackschit about what it means to be "Packer People".
