Herman's take after grading every one of Wyatt's games / plays ... he is very consistent , makes 2-3 positive plays, makes 2-3 negative plays, makes 2-3 neutral plays. I do think we'll see him get more than 9 snaps in remaining games.
Lowry did not play in the second half today against Miami.
Wyatt & Slaton did.
He probably needs to see more snaps.
He's gonna be a good one.

Maybe that injury to Lowry will result in sort of an accidental discovery, the D-Line is better without him?
The defense would be better without Barry, too.
Really encouraged by the play of #95! Keep him on the field please. Really discouraged by MLF hugging Barry like that. He wouldn't actually keep him around next year would he??????
Here's your conundrum: by some miracle, GB makes the playoff and ends on a deep run... let's say NFC championship game, where they lose a close one. Now, we would all love to see Barry gone and most/many want to see Rodgers gone, but what do you do if they go deep into the playoffs? Would the fans still want Rodgers? Would MLF still want Barry?
I say you still get rid of both. Thank you Aaron for all your years of service; here's a green-and-gold watch and a home version of Jeopardy! No thanks to you, Barry, but we'll hold the door for you.
Well, I guess we now know why Wyatt played as much as he did over Lowry (IR) this past game. Iβm rooting for him, and he made a couple of splash plays. But PFF had him graded as one of the gameβs worst on D (for whatever thatβs worth),only slightly better than Quay.

I'm sticking with my pessismestic approach. No way they make the playoffs.
This attitude has allowed me to be pleasently suprised the last couple weeks and actually enjoy the wins.
I don't see them beating the Vikings and I sure as hell don't see them beating the Lions on the road.

Since this has already occurred.
Hindsight is 20/20
What kind of fan doesn't know the final 2 regular games are at home? Oh I know a brain dead one.
The Packers need Wyatt to play more often. He had been playing only a few snaps per game, until recently.
Wyatt played 34 snaps and Slaton played 24 snaps yesterday.
Cousins was the Queens leading rusher in GBβs best performance against the run in 2022.
The Pack began stopping the run late in the first half in the Miami game.
By sheer coincidence, Dean βAmariβ Lowry got injured late in the first half of the Dolphins game and did not play yesterday.

He's on IR.
I donβt wish injury on anybody, but in this case IR is the gift that keeps on giving.
Iβm not a Lowry hater but something changed last week.

Off the field where he belongs. Actually, Lowry would make a decent 3rd down rusher, but his very presence turns defensive coaches into morons and they start playing him like heβs another Kenny Clark. That dude should not even be a consideration for first and second downs.
Lowry is a guy that does everything ok but nothing great. He's the player you're always looking to upgrade when/if you can but you can live with him playing if you have to. There's a lot of those dudes in the league.
How about last year's Packer draft? Wyatt is just another one to step up and play well. That draft may end up being one of the best GB has had.
He doesnβt play the run okay. Heβs a huge liability in the run game.
I saw one play where Wyatt was tangled up with a blocker and still managed to stop the RB using only his left arm. Must be a pretty strong hombre.
Wyatt had an elite PFF grade and the highest on the D in last nightβs game. His Sack & strip of Goff wax awesome and he really flashed to end the season.
Again, it would awesome to hear Barry explain why Wyatt could not get snaps until after Lowry got injured against the Dolphins.
What was so awesome? He didn't recover it

Lowry would have made the sack, stripped the ball, recovered it, taken it to the house, Lambeau leaped, hit the wall, fallen down and ended up on IR.
But he knows all of ARβs hand signalsβ¦so thereβs that.
Here's lovable Larry with a few cutups on Wyatt in pass rush and run stuff from last season.

Looking forward to the year 2 leap
Hope for a year 2 leap, beware a sophomore slump.
Wyatt and Walker both need to mature mentally.
That will be the single biggest factor for their 2nd year improvement.
Devonte Wyatt sophomore breakout has not happened. Heβs a solid sub-package pass rusher who consistently loses at the point of attack, doesnβt counter well, and if heβs not creating TFLs is a huge negative as a run defender.

Wyatt's sophomore breakout year still has time to develop. It's hard when our WRs are continually running the wrong routes.

One of the concerns about Devonte Wyatt when he was drafted was that he was a 24 year old rookie. Contrast that with a guy like Kenny Clark who didn't turn 21 until the middle of his rookie season.
The sophomore breakouts often happen for DL because the elite, top of the draft, ones often come out of college as 20 or 21 year olds and still are adding strength and physical maturity. Wyatt graduated from high school when he was 19, went to community college for a year, and then was at Georgia for 4 years. Being at a place like Georgia (or Alabama) gives you access to weight room and strength training that are on an NFL level. He was a very physically mature rookie. The expectation was that he should be able to come in and play at a decent level right away. That wasn't the case. He should have had a high floor but his ceiling was going to be limited. Maybe his floor wasn't as high as they thought and he looked a lot better than he was because he was a 24 year old man playing against guy 3-4 years younger for most of his senior year and surrounded by other future NFL players on one of the greatest college dynasties of the 21st century.
