Never a bad idea to draft OL. Let them all fight it out and let the best 5 play and the rest can be backups. With all of the injuries we've had on OL the last few seasons, we could use better backups.
@Herschel posted:True, but are they soured on Newman already? I suppose they could plan on Jenkins at RT and let Newman, Runyan and Rhyan duke it out.
They love OL with flexibilityβ¦last couple of years has shown how valuable that can beβ¦maybe he gets a shot at RT first so EJ can go back inside.
@RochNyFan posted:With Jenkins back at LG, where do you play Runyan? He's played better than Newman, IMO.
Which is why I said RG is a good for him. Light a fire under Newman maybe
Kerby Joseph now gone. The safeties are getting fairly dry.
All the best TE are goneβ¦Bellinger from San Diego St and Kolar from ISU are the last two I think worth a damn for our offense. Ruckert is shit as a weapon, more of a blocker.
Chig Okonkwo is an HBβ¦better than Deguara IMO, but they wonβt take him unless they have quit on Deguara.
Would love Calvin Austin but heβs too small for the Packers.
Future samurai in the movies.
DAMNIT, there goes Myjai Sanders.
No Love trade tells me the NFL saw what we saw. Not worth more than a 3rd.
I wonder what aaron rodgers would have gotten in trade value after his 2nd year.
@D J posted:Shirley, you didn't expect him to last until our next pick.
I like Rhyan, but would have rather had Sanders. Gutekunst wanting to seem smarter than everyone by passing on the draft's strength seems to be a developing and disturbing trend.
Then again, they could have maneuvered for both if they hadn't pissed away two premium picks on a receiver with bad hands.
Maybe not popular, but Watson was the one receiver I was really hoping they wouldn't pick.
Love the mini-run on Badgers at the end of day two.

You really need to see if the Packers will hire you.

And Watson was the guy I wanted. Let's see who's right.

Bit harsh on Watson.
But Gute has cast his lot with the guy by trading two #2's and if it doesn't work out that could be the end of the Gute era. He is out on a ledge with this move.
It amuses me to no end that the most intimidating bite radius in history (Russell Wilsonβs ex-wife not withstanding) would go to an animal with the daintiest little arms.
I mean, did the other dinosaurs secretly make fun of the T-Rex?

The Packers are 39-10 the last three years. I donβt think one pick is going to doom our general manager. And, on the off chance one pick DOES end up bringing him down, Iβm fairly confident the Jordan Love pick is the far more egregious reach of the two,
Heβs angry cuz heβs never been able to pull one off.

Disagree. Here he traded two #2's, and at that to a division rival.
To my way of thinking he's out on a ledge with that particularly if Watson is a bust and the Vikings picks turn out good.
I'm an optimist or I wouldn't have survived as a Packers fan through the dreadful years and hope that Watson works out.
We are talking about the Vikings here. They were so enamored with pick 53 they traded it to the Colts.
Can't make anyone happy. Viking fans all pissed that they traded with the Packers. Bunch of Debbie Downers!

That does bring up a weird debate: Do you not make the deal on the chance you make your stronger division foe even better, or do you not care and only look at your own team?
Whatever they do, the Vikings are going to screw it up.
I also heard GB wanted to trade up, in the 1st, but no team would trade with them.
Anyone have any favorites left at Edge, TE, WR or Safety?
Names to keep in mind for R4...
Eyioma Uwazurike Edge Iowa St
Daniel Bellinger TE San Diego St
Jalyn Armour-Davis CB Alabama
Khalil Shakir WR Boise St
Coby Bryant CB Cincinnati
Kingsley Egnabare Edge South Carolina
Charlie Kolar TE Iowa St
Amare Barno Edge Va Tech
Bo Melton WR Rutgers
I'm still trying to imagine how bad the background check/interviews on Perrion Winfrey went. Guy's a tremendous talent so teams must have some MAJOR question marks about character.
They still need edge depth and safety depth in a big way, and those positions are getting fairly bare. Gutekunst ignoring the draft's strongest position when they also have needs there has become a rather disturbing trend. The team has basically no depth still at some important positions.
And I can't imagine how guys who watch college games, read some magazines seem to know more about players than scouts, personel guys, coaches and GMs who actually interview the players, talk to college coaches, and watch hours and hours of tape. Plus the team guys actually talk among themselves about the players. Gutey doesn't discount what everyone is telling him and just say the hell with it, I'm going my way.
There's a lot of stuff that's not hidden or hard to figure out. Most people paying attention can recognize obscene talent or traits and major, on-field issues. The interviews, background checks and medicals are pretty big pieces, though. Gutekunst is also prone to personal foibles like every other human. TT couldn't draft a decent corner for the team to save his life, but he was very good at finding receivers.
Are you saying TT and Gutey should've had a love child?
Badger homers feeling bad this morning. Chanel goes to K C at 103 and Logan Bruss goes at 104 to Rams. Maybe the Pack can still get Jake Ferguson.
Best bet might be Scott Nelson or/and Hicks as free agents.
TE run!

The Vikings were in desperate need of a corner and instead of drafting one they traded their picks to Detroit first, who drafted Williams, and then to GB who drafted Watson. They literally gave their division rivals two WRs instead of drafting a corner to cover them.
