SkinnyAmari is kind of a head scratcher. He meets basically none of their usual measurables, and they have Nixon as a returner already.

Now they have another player who can blow the top off the defense and he can catch the ball. We are not done drafting ball catchers, for Love,

All I will say is, the Packers have more than enough credit in findings gem WR's in the 2nd round including Watson last year. No reason to think Reed can't continue that streak as well.

Jordy, Gerg Jennings, Davante....list is pretty damn good out of the 2nd round.

Those picks are a while ago now. Dorsey was still there for Jordy and Greg. Do we know the scouts involved in the process are still there? Gutey was, but wasn't there a lot of turnover when the GM succession turned away from Eliot Wolf?

I have a lot of respect for Ben Fennell. He really knows his film and football.

The first guy of that group was Terence Murphy 2nd round pick in 2005.  We’ll never know good he could have been.  Played 3 games and was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and nobody would take him on their team after that.

I don’t really know how something like that gets missed during their physicals but somehow it got missed by medical staff when he was evaluated for the draft.

What would have been everyone's WR choice in that spot?

I'd rather have not traded back and got Martin or Benton, but if a different receiver I'd rather have gotten Rice or Dell (if going small)with the way it fell.

There's the comments from Smith. Packers pretty clearly see him as being what Amari Rodgers wasn't and time will tell.

Just watched a slew of his highlights…his college skills mirror Randall Cobb’s pro skills. I see why the Packers took him now. Similar measurables too in height, weight and speed. Similar moves in traffic also. He’s not the “big slot” many were hoping for, but his skillset is miles ahead of CalAmari in college.

Yes. But noticeably faster. If he has half of Cobb’s football nous then Green Bay’s got a keeper.

This guy is what they imagined Amari Rodgers being. Now let's hope Reed kicks ass!

GPG!

I don’t follow college football much, so I have no opinion on whether this pick was worth the round.  What I do like is more speed, good hands, late hands, and the ability to return punts.  Seems very competitive with contested catches.  I like it.

Calling it now, I think this will be our best pick in this draft.

Whoa Vitaflo.....that's going out on a limb - I like it!!

I'll go with Las Vegas Nevada....LVN. The Luke Ness Monster

I think the drafting of this guy shows the growing influence of Rich Basaccia on the Packers leadership. Best punt returner in the draft, but there were better receivers on board, from what I hear.

Whenever there's better receivers on the board I usually look up interviews with all the options . More often than not it seems to be the tie breaker. Packers always seem to lean towards the players with faith based, or self-sacrifice personalities over the more ego centric driven players. Locker room fit is a highly valued trait.  They'll almost always lean towards accountable mentality over alpha mentality.

From McShay

Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan State (Round 2, No. 50)

Reed is fun to watch, and he was the most dynamic receiver down in Mobile, Alabama, in January during Senior Bowl week. He's only 5-foot-10 and 187 pounds, but he's versatile, explosive and savvy in his routes. And while he had only 636 receiving yards and five TDs in 2022, Reed has above-average ball skills and went for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2021. The Packers are getting a reliable pass-catcher with big-play ability, underrated speed and impressive acceleration.

At this point we shouldn't be too surprised when Green Bay skips on pass-catchers in Round 1, but it does have a knack for finding them on Day 2, which it did as recent as Christian Watson last April. But the need was heightened this time around. The Packers can't lean on Aaron Rodgersto get it done no matter who is running routes, and Allen Lazard and Robert Tonyan left town in free agency. Getting Jordan Love help was critical. The pair of tight end picks will help, and Green Bay actually also used two Day 3 selections on receivers, but I just really like what Reed brings.
