Was hoping Kraft would seize the opportunity for immediate playing time (along with Musgrave who looks good) at TE and break the 3rd round curse.

Somehow Kraft got fewer snaps yesterday than Ben Sims (who is apparently the designated blocking TE and was picked up on waivers at the end of camp).

Musgrave caught 2 of 3 passes for 25 yards. He is still a work in progress as a blocker. Calais Campbell somehow split Tom and Musgrave to make a tackle for loss early in the game. Deguara caught 2 passes for 5 yards, but at least his 4-yard reception was good for a first down. Sims got 5 blocking snaps and Kraft is not ready.

Way too early to panic about Kraft, but in this year of experimentation, I'd love to seem him on the field whenever possible.

PS anyone else notice it was Newman who replaced Jenkins at Left Guard when Elgton went out with an injury and not 2022 3rd rounder Sean Rhyan?

Kraft is young and very raw.

However, he has already shown more than any 3rd rounder in about forever.

He is not as explosive as Musgrave, but seeing a "backup" tight end catch the ball, immediately turn upfield and not look like he was running in quick sand is just nice.

He's no burner but he still looks real good running with the ball.  Has enough shake to cause some hesitation and enough mass to roll a dude.  It's a bit of hyperbole but he does move like a baby Gronk.

Totally agree that Kraft looks like he’s a good developmental TE prospect as that 3rd round pick.  Sternberger and Deguara were also 3rd round TEs who just didn’t seem like anything more than marginal NFL players.

Kraft looks like he’s got a bright future, just stay healthy.

The nfl.com scouting reports got these guys correct in terms of their ceilings in the NFL. DeGuara is shorter, smaller, and slower than Kraft and Musgrave. He was a 6th-7th round special team type that got drafted way too high. He's a try hard, high effort guy that just lacks the athleticism to really be an NFL starter.

Musgrave and Kraft were graded as out as eventually being good to average future NFL starters. Sternberger was big enough, but slow. I think he's biggest problem was that he was a knucklehead. RichRod was also projected as a late rounder that they took too high. Just like DeGuara, he had a role as a special teams/3rd string TE. RichRod probably couldn't beat Tom Brady in a foot race.

Wish he would've got that TD that was a perfect play design by MLF late in the game. No defender on the left side of the field due to the trips on the right.

Did anyone watch the tape to see what happened? Did KC just have a well timed blitz up the middle that disrupted the play or did Runyan/Myers blow the protection?

As I recall from the replay, one OL blew the play and KC had a defender to swat the ball away.

No swat...  Pressure in Love's face didn't allow him to hold it long enough.  This led to Kraft having no separation from the defender he was shedding, and had fooled.    Because of the lack of separation, Love had to zip it instead of float it.

Serious “To Catch a Predator” vibes, but whatever works I guess.

Let me get this straight, you have a 12 pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade in your trunk and condoms in your glove compartment, and all you came to do was to "talk"?

Kraft has said he's a YAC guy.  In that, he's not the best route runner, he's a guy you can throw it to in space and then he will bowl over guys for yards.  IE, he's more like Gronk than Kelce.

Once Musgrave gets back, two TE sets are going to be really fun to watch.  Defenses are going to have fits.  If they load up to stop the run, you can put Musgrave out in the flat on a LB.  If they play pass, you can pull the TE's in and run.  I think this is what MLF has wanted all along.
