As has been discussed many times, if the Packers would have had competent special teams in 2021 they win that playoff game.

You could argue the difference in that game should have been the QB. It was cold and Rodgers played well enough to win that game. The Packers had a chip shot FG blocked at the end of the half and then had the punt blocked for a TD. It should have been a 13-3 game with the Niners getting the ball back around midfield with 5 minutes left.

Still MLFs worst game as a coach if for no other reason that EVERYONE knew the special teams was a problem all year (including MLF who told Aikman and Buck he was just hoping special teams didn't hurt them that week). Just a pathetic example of a head coach who couldn't make the tough (but obvious) decisions. Can you imagine Mike Holmgren allowing that to continue without doing anything? Bill Parcells?

Your final point is the clincher. If he didn't want to fire him, he could've put someone else on staff over him for the rest of the season when it was so obvious the coach was incompetent.

Combo platter IMO.  No matter how many special team screw ups and coaching head scratchers the O needs to score more than 3.

10.  They scored a TD on the opening drive and then one more FG.

Also, the offense looked crisp on the second drive until one of the receivers (I forget which one) fumbled.  That really changed the game, I think.  Not just because I've always been convinced the Packers would have scored on that drive, but because it changed the momentum.

Wonder if Eagle fans want to fire Roseman for his crappy first round draft pick?

See? It isn't just our GM. Look around the league and see. It's not easy to avoid busts

Man did Roseman ever F up in the 2020 draft by taking Reagor at 21 over Justin Jefferson at 22. No doubt about that one.

Philly fans were rightly angry with Howie and demanded he take action to rectify the situation and take action he did.

In 2021, Roseman responded to his colossal error by drafting WR DeVonta Smith in round 1 and then in 2022 by trading a 1st round pick for AJ Brown -- to add to his earlier selection of TE Dallas Goedert. All that firepower helped get Philly back to its second SB in 6 years under Howie's watch.

Wonder if Philly fans would have been pleased if Roseman just sat on his hands?

I also wonder how fans of a team which last played in a SB back when Al Davis was still alive and owned the Raiders would react if they had a Hall of Fame QB and their GM's big moves to add receiving weapons for 4 years running consisted of adding a number of (mostly failed) mid-round picks and a couple of UDFAs?

...and that's the point.....even the very best GMs make mistakes. Why? Because they're not dealing with machines. They deal with humans.

The biggest key is recognizing your mistake and correcting it sooner rather than later.

The best example of this was Mike Sherman drafting a fucking Punter (BJ Sander) in the 3rd round then keeping him on the 53 man roster because "someone had to be inactive anyway"

I was never so furious with a draft pick in my life before or since. Sherman should've been terminated on the spot for that shit.
