The longer this goes with Rodgers stalling and lining up all his buddies with the Jets the more I think the Packers should pull the rug out on this deal at the last minute. If it wasn't for that contract it would be a great way to show Rodgers he's overplaying his hand.

Could be poison pill…AR asks for his buddies to be included, leaks it to Russini, then when the Jets refuse he can say I tried my best and keep his friendships.

if I was the Jets I’d get Lamar’s mom on the line and get something in the works.  We all know that these arbitrary deadlines mean nothing.

How could the Pack have offered the Raiders their 2nd last trade deadline when everyone knows it was going to Pittsburgh for Claypool until the Bears swooped in at the last minute?

Oh well, nice to see Tommy Boy quickly jump in to assure the Green & Gold masses that the FRONT OFFICE did everything in its power to acquire Waller and it was, as always, the other team that thwarted the deal.

Just a darn shame that the rest of the NFL has refused to accept all those round 1-5 draft picks the Pack has been dangling to acquire veteran players over the past two decades.

Please God, tell me you’re not this miserable in person every second of every day.

Based on the way Waller and Claypool played last year, you still feel bad that we didn’t sign them? Yours in not an agenda based on the need to win. Yours is an agenda based on the need to whine.

I'm going to assume every team has multiple offers for various trades going on all the time.  It would be stupid not to.

Fans care way too much about specific names.  Teams just see players they can plug into a team.  My guess is they rated Claypool and Waller the same so they didn't care which one they got for a 2nd.

Nah, pointing out that a certain member of the Packer press was assuring the masses that Green Bay was shipping a 2nd rounder to Pitt for Claypool at the trade deadline before the Bears outbid them while the same intrepid reporter is assuring the same masses today that the Pack was actually all about sending its 2nd rounder to Las Vegas for Waller is just highlighting how this reporter operates.

Moreover, if the Packers were truly intent on sending a 2nd rounder for either Claypool or Waller as Mr. Silverstein says they were then, as you point out, that would not exactly reflect well on the GM who supposedly was pushing so hard to acquire them, right?

My agenda is, and always has been, simple, straightforward, and consistent - pointing out that the current powers that be and the QB they have deferred to for so long are incapable of leading the Packers to their 5th Super Bowl victory.

With Rodge almost, likely, maybe, (who knows?) gone, the spotlight is about to shine ever more brightly on Murph and Gutey.

Can't wait.

If Love is, indeed, the starter this upcoming season, I prefer the Packers sign a veteran QB to back him up that is smart and a good mentor.  Don't care if it's a QB with a light resume as far as starting.  I prefer they get a guy that can work with Love, not someone that is looking for reps to showcase his own talents.

Kurt Warner? He'd be a good mentor and probably not looking to pad his stats much. He has ties to the organization and we'd be able to extend our streak of hall of fame quarterbacks on our roster.

We need a backup that could potentially win you a game or two if you needed him to, but not be a guy who fans will start clamoring for if Love struggles.  This would have been the downside of a guy like Heinicke.  He's a fan favorite and if Love got off to a slow start, there would be calls for Heinicke to step in.

Need someone who fans do not want to see play in the game unless they absolutely have to.  Love needs to be given at least a full season to prove himself, warts and all.

@TomPelissero: The #Lions are signing former #Bears RB David Montgomery, per sources.

NFL watchers are saying this means Detroit won’t be bringing Jamaal Williams back. Big mistake if so. He’s been perfect for them and for what Dan Campbell is building there.

Rumors are CHI is eyeing Ekeler.  Jamal is available.  Dum but could draft Bijan.
