Why would anyone give 2 first round picks for Lamar Jackson?
Sucker born every minute... Just so the Jets don't switch and become that sucker for Jackson as it seems like they are courting Rodgers and we want them to take the bait.
It's going to be a 4-year deal worth $160M, sources say, with $35M more in upside. They are finalizing. https://t.co/MTWTE4JVRl

Lamar is the type of QB MLF covets for his offense. Packers get a first for Rodgers, trade Love for an extra pick and sign Lamar. It’s perfect.

To seriously answer, I think it really depends on how a team values Jackson (obviously). That team would be getting a known commodity and have probably determined what his “ceiling” is and if it has been/can be reached.
That said, some team is gonna give the Bears at least two 1st Rounders (most likely) for a mostly unknown commodity. That team has no idea if their “rookie QB” is gonna be the next Joe Burrow, Pat Mahomes or Justin Herbert (franchise builder), another Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murray (good, not great yet), or a Jameis Winston, Carson Wentz or Paxton Lynch (busts).
So to give up two #1s for Jackson isn’t any different than what some team will give up for this year’s top QB prospects (or any year for that matter).
And pay Jackson the 250 million he wants guaranteed?
Collusion?
Good point with the $$ aspect which I didn’t address. But it’s certainly a doable amount of money. Again, know v unknown. I wouldn’t pay him that much, but lesser QBs have followed their teams to SBs.

How many of you would be good if GB decided to pay Daniel fucking Jones 40 million a year?
2022 stats: 16 games | 67.2 pct | 3,205 pass yds | 6.8 ypa | 15 pass TD | 5 INT | 708 rush yds | 7 rush TD | 6 fumbles
No one will take Jackson for that money and draft picks to give up. Seems like he always has an owie. Can't win games if you are sitting in the tub.
@RochNyFan posted:No thanks. Worse big game Qb than Rodgers.
While doubtful, there's even a chance Rodgers plays more years going forward. Jackson's fun, but guys with his playing style seem to hit the wall hard once the injuries start. Michael Vick seems to be the only really good running QB to have a decently-long career as a starter and he only started 16 games once, with a two-year break in the middle.
LoL, flipped on teh TV after logging off work and teh NFL Network is on with a "Free Agent Showcase: Jimmy Garopplo" game on vs. the Bengals. First play, he drops back, drops the ball and takes a sack. A few plays later, takes another sack. They're up 20-6 at that point, but I found it funny.
Making plans for life after Jordan Whitehead?

#Vikings Pro Bowl pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith informed the team that he wants to be released, I’m told. The team has no plans to do that. The situation remains unresolved. https://t.co/1jWfnK36w4

This won't end well!
That's about the most Zadarius thing Z could do. Priceless.
Please release me, let me go
I don't play here anymore
To waste my prime years would be a sin
Release me and let me start again
You can't disungruntle Z'.
I’m so old I remember when we loved the Z man
It was written basically as a one-year contract so they could dump him now. Strange indeed.

One of the tweeters said something like Daniel Jones new contract was for the NYG, the equivalent of knocking up your ex after break up sex.
Dolphins are converting Tyreek Hill’s $10 million roster bonus and $16 million salary into a $24.835 million bonus and a $1.165 million salary, saving the team about $18 million against its salary cap, per sources. Making $$$$ available for Rodgers?
Dolphins just picked up Tua's 5th year option. So much for 12 to Miami speculation.
Man, I will never be able to watch Tua play football without cringing. It’s not going to end well for him.

That is a big ass haul for the Bears in a weak QB market. I am not happy if I am a Panther's fan.
Compensation update, per sources: Bears trading No. 1 overall pick to Carolina for:

Houston fucked up by letting lovie know he was fired before last game
I don’t think Houston effed up that badly. If they had the #1 overall, they may have gotten a similar haul. But the reality is that only 1 player won’t be available when they get to select. And there’s no clear cut “gotta have” #1 pick. So Houston might be able to get an even better haul on draft day (or before) for #2 after the Panthers pick.

Let me explain the BK sense of humor. Rather than use the anti-woke sledgehammer that everyone's favorite Florida Governor Named Ron uses, he employs the subtle satire developed while waiting as a goalie for hours in Milwaukee's soccer fields.
I'm just hoping he doesn't TM any of this.
