I do wonder if the reason this deal hasn’t been finalized is Rodgers wants to add some of his guys to the roster as well, so that will require a bit more maneuvering from a cap standpoint.

I think the Packers and Jets probably have already agreed upon cash and draft compensation; why else go public and travel all the way across the country if that wasn’t the case?

The Sauce Gardner comments are telling IMO on the whole β€œpackage deal” stuff.  Once again, there’s no reason to make those thoughts public if it wasn’t the case.

What would be hilarious is if Rodgers decided to retire or another team swooped in at the last minute to snatch him away from the Jets.

Looks like Bears are loading up with all that available cap $. Signed ILB Tremaine Edmunds ($72M), G Nate Davis ($60M), LB TJ Edwards, and are being linked to Austin Ekeler.

Yep. That’s what happens when you are the worst team in the NFL. Time after time, bad teams with a ton of cap room spend like drunken sailors and very few truly get better. We’ve seen this with the Jags, Browns, Texans etc before. This is the same team that traded Roquan Smith to spend a shit load on his replacement. Why not just keep the All Pro guy you already had?

Green Bay Packers receiver Randall Cobb, intends to play in 2023, a source told Packer Central on Monday.

β€œI don’t know why you’re all acting like I’m geriatric,” Cobb said with a smile after the New England game. β€œI’m not in a nursing home. This is the best I’ve felt since I was like 29.”

Gotta love Cobbie! Bona-fide Bear killer.

Minnesota Vikings: D-

Key additions: TE Josh Oliver (Ravens), DE Marcus Davenport (Saints)

The Vikings currently have the second-least amount of cap space in the entire NFL outside of the Saints, so there's not a whole lot they can do. However, giving former New Orleans Saint Marcus Davenport $13 million on a one-year deal even though he's coming off what may be the worst season of his career at 26 years old in 2022 is a whiff.

The signing of former Baltimore Ravens tight end Josh Oliver to a three-year, $21 million contract with a career stat line of 26 catches for 230 receiving yards and two touchdowns at 25 years old is insanity. Unless Minnesota plans to make an out of nowhere run at Lamar Jackson, this signing makes even less sense than the Davenport money.

Just what I like to read, a whiff and then insanity.

Vikings tabbedd as losers for the Oliver signing per CBS

Yeah, he’d have been foolish not to jump at that deal. I thought maybe he’d slide through the silly money days and come at a decent price.

β€˜Smith’s contract isn’t too bad and there’s an out after this season with no dead cap. I’d kind of like to see a complete overhaul at the position and four rookies wouldn’t be prudent.

They need to be more careful about what they're whiffing.

Note, the Giants gave up pick #100 for Waller just now.

How could the Pack have offered the Raiders their 2nd last trade deadline when everyone knows it was going to Pittsburgh for Claypool until the Bears swooped in at the last minute?

Oh well, nice to see Tommy Boy quickly jump in to assure the Green & Gold masses that the FRONT OFFICE did everything in its power to acquire Waller and it was, as always, the other team that thwarted the deal.

Just a darn shame that the rest of the NFL has refused to accept all those round 1-5 draft picks the Pack has been dangling to acquire veteran players over the past two decades.
