I guess the Stinger was serious

That's why I posted about Denver RB Samaje Perrine yesterday - as a vet replacement for Dillon.

I don't believe this is true.  There's a new rule this year that two players can be sent to IR during final cut downs and are still able to return after 4 weeks.  It seems that Dillon and Davis would fall under this rule.

Not sure if he'll be a good QB but he has a TON of rushing attempts.  If he can help teach the defense how to finally stop mobile QB's then he'll have done more than Clifford ever did.

You must be referring to Hafley's D.  Because one thing the former guy's D could do well was corral running QB's.  The one game I recall last year where they were pantsed was vs. NYG.  Probably because nobody expected DeVito to run as much as he did.

Neither Dillion or Davis was designated to return.

Both are done for the season.

That seems fairly strange doesn't it?  What's the harm in putting them on IR in and seeing what happens in 4 weeks?  Maybe the Packers didn't want to pick up their salary for the year.

EDIT: I see Ford was on IR DTR.  Still left one spot they could have DTR'd.  Interesting they didn't use it on either one of these guys.

WTH happened to Dillon again?  I thought it was minor.

Packers are exceedingly vague when talking neurological stuff - they just called it a stinger and gave no more info. He's had several similar episodes and I think the risk goes up for repeated ones ?

Maybe Dr Bob can offer us some insight, but GB is always super conservative

I can't help with the medical stuff, only the mental stuff.  My guess is he's depressed right now.  I hope he recovers quickly and does well with the Vikings.

Did any undrafted players make the team this year?

  • None of Green Bay's nine undrafted rookies made the initial 53-man roster. If the Packers don't add one before next week's regular-season opener against Philadelphia, it'll be the first time Green Bay hasn't carried an undrafted rookie on its Week 1 roster since 2004.

Wow.  Didn't realize GB has been on a streak since 2004.  I think that's a direct byproduct of Gute drafting so well over the past few years that there just aren't spots available for the UDFAs at the bottom of the roster.

Overall, I like the makeup of this roster.

IMO, other than the Willis trade, the biggest surprises were Pratt and Cliffy.
The injury/IR list was somewhat surprising. We obviously knew that Dillon had an injury, but no idea it would end his season. Davis was the same, if I assume he still has ACL-related problems. I didn't even know Ford was hurt, but I see where he had a calf injury vs the Ravens.
Mosby making the team is a mild surprise, but good on him!
Ditto Melton and Heath. Maybe less surprising, but I'm glad for them.

The kicker competition was on its' own level of crazy. It surpassed any possible chance of surprises.

In any case, assuming they clear waivers, there are some good PS candidates.
Toure, Cliffy, Pratt, AJ Jr., Welch, K King, and possibly Rochell and Sapp III come to mind.

Arron Mosby was an undrafted FA when he came into the league with Carolina...
