977 + 418 = almost 1500!!
Aaron Rodgers had almost 60 TD passes last year.

I agree...and the Pack will lose if Rodgers does not play to his standard.

This could be troublesome in the Bear den:
Bears running back Matt Forte still didn't seem happy after Week 1 -- even after he earned his long-awaited new contract. But it was more about what Forte didn't get: goal-line carries that resulted in Michael Bush scoring two one-yard touchdowns in the Bears' 41-21 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Soldier Field. "It's been happening my whole career here, so I don't know," Forte said when asked about not finishing drives. "That's the coordinator's call." The one drive that stood out was in the first quarter, when Forte had a 32-yard run to jump-start the offense. Five plays later, he ran 15 yards to the 1-yard line. In came Bush, who ran for no gain on first down before plunging across the goal line on second down.
Here's the very next quote in the same dumbass article:
"Mike can do it all, as well," Forte said. "He can catch the ball on third downs, so there are no limitations when I come out of the game. It's not like if I come out on third down, he can't do the same thing."
It's just the author trying to stir the pot/get hits.

Packers unable to stop the run. Play from behind all game. Bears 31 Pack 21
Melton is one hell of a player. The Bears receivers are the kind of big slow variety our secondary seems to well against.
Thur. night forecast is 60-70% chance of rain (up to .5").
The Packers haven't lost back to back (reg. season) home games since 2008. They did it twice that year.
For what it's worth.

I don't have a good feeling again this week. The concerns are:
1. Bears defense has historically been THE team that has controlled Rodgers. They play that deep cover 2 that befuddles MM and AR12.
2. People don't want to hear this, but Rodgers hasn't been all that great since last November. He fell off in December (remember all the late Brees for MVP talk?), wasn't good against the Giants, and hasn't been great yet this year.
3. Packers can't run the ball and can't stop the run. Forte will do what Gore did and MM will have the same 50 pass vs 15 run "balance".
4. Marshall killed the Packers when he was with the Dolphins in 2010 and I see no reason why he won't be a big factor again Thurs night.
5. How many of us have any faith in the Packers defense? I don't see them turning things around in 3 days.
Prediction: I think it will be very similar to the Niner game. Some of you are predicting a shoot-out type game in the 30s. Historically, Bears/Packers has not been that high scoring. The games are typically in the 20s. Thus, Bears 27 Packers 21. I pray I am wrong.

In the last regular season game he played last year (12/25 vs the BEARS) Rodgers threw for 5 tds against 0 picks, 142.7 rating. What a bum.

...and GB hadn't lost a home opener in like 5 decades either.
All these predictions for a Bare win. One game does not make a season.
News flash: GB is going to lose a few more games this season. It's not the end of the world. It's possible they even start 0-2, but it's not likely. No matter what happens, this team is moving on in the playoffs and playing in New Orleans on the last game of the season.
Suck it up.

No kidding, that's why the Packers beat the Bears 4 times in one calendar year, including the NFC Championship game
Its also why MM's Packers are 6-1 vs the bears since 2009, all that befuddlement really takes its toll

It sort of depends. The 2 wins the Packers had in 2010, I thought the Bears did an excellent job of controlling Rodgers, but the Packers did an even better job of getting Cutler and Hanie to cough it up for the wins. That game in week 17 was a dogfight where the Pack had only 3 points well into that game and put everyone on edge.
In 2011, no question the Pack and Rodgers played much better offensively vs. the Bears. The only reason the 1st game even got close was because Starks was just awful that day and coughed up the ball just as the Pack was about to put the nail in the coffin.
Let's hope we see more of a 2011 performance than a 2010 one from an offensive standpoint.

No, no it doesn't.

So which of his two 3-point losses in 9 starts against the Bears concerns you the most? I'm not saying the Bears don't present any challenges, but I wouldn't worry about their "historical controlling" of Rodgers.
Good point. That statement belongs in the discussion for this week in over-the-top pants-pissing along with:
1. AR is in decline
2. The defense is as bad if not worse than last year
At least it's a very short week.

Since we are all about speculating, I'll try:
Going by 2 things: 1.MM breaks the season down into sections of 4, I think he has made allowances and programs for the short week. Perhaps both coaches have.
2. AR and MM both like to look at match-ups one on one
Which is why maybe we saw more Jones and Jfin and less Jennings and no Driver. And knowing the strength of the of the SF DLine not much Benson. In week one. As they say on Monty Python: and now for something completely different.
And since we crossed over into the over-the-top pants p*ssing, I'll ask it: Is this a 'must-win' for the Pack? I think it is
31-21 G&G

Good points Gus and Bob.
We thank you kindly Hungry5. Further naval gazing and rank amateur guessing causes us to recollect: Lovie was hired partly with the mission and promise to beat the packers. As our colleagues upthread have pointed out of late it has been a rocky trip. If the Bears fail agin' the Pack and have a mediocre season overall, it could be Lovie on the rocks
so ipso facto: it could be argued that this is a must win for Lovie as well

Lots prediciting a Bears win, must have been that impressive article in the original post. Got ya'll shaking in yer boots!
Rong!!! All the whiners came out because the Packers lost the first game of the season and now the world is ending.
Every fan base has its share of extremes. This game could go either way, but I don't think the Packers are ready for this new and slightly improved Bears O.
So far 9 posters picking the Packers and 5 picking the Bears.
The Bears defense is not SFO, and the Packers offense is not IND. Last game means nothing here. GB is the more talented and deeper team and I expect they will perform as such.

The 1-15 colts and their 28th ranked defense are an excellent test on which to base future prognostications
PS - The saints scored 62 on them

Just pray that Melton doesn't break Rodgers leg.

Oh you meant he wont be here because he's a troll and the bares will have lost... never mind.
Even knows his team needs to improve from week 1 if they are to beat the Packers. IND had success running the ball, but ran only slightly more than the Packers did -vs- SFO. IND also was able to move the ball with Fleener. TE (Finley/Williams) will be key to the Packers success Thu night.

Damn, you're dumb. Colts only had 63 yards rushing against us.
And the reason Fleener caught the ball and they moved it? We rested our starters including our six foot four cover two MLB.
Yep. Pulled him from the game because he was healthy.

un****ing real. TBSS and so do you
Donald Brown, 9 carries for 48 yards - 5.3 ypc w/most of the damage done in the 1st half when the game was not yet decided.
Fleener, 3 catches for 51 yards in 1st half. Nice start for a rookie TE from a rookie QB. Get a vet TE working with the current league MVP and that spells trouble for the Bears defensive middle.

The Bears had no answer for the Pack that fine Christmas Day. But let's gloss over that victory, The one that clinched everything in the playoffs.
People put far too much weight on 1 game. The Packers aren't that bad & the 49'ers aren't 70's Steel Curtain. The Packers had chances on Sunday just didn't capitalize. Looking forward to a short week & seeing if the Packers can right the ship
Onward?
...or is it Forward?
In any event, we're moving the **** on.

Jay Cutler was asked about struggles against Packers & he made veiled reference to ex-off. coordinator Mike Martz.
You can decide for yourself here but I asked the Bears QB if one of the problems against Green Bay in recent meetings has been the Packers roughing up the Bears wide receivers.
“It was one of them,” Cutler said. “I think protection was another one. Just general scheme was another reason. There was a whole row of things we could go down of why we struggled against them. I think we’ve got a good idea. I think we’ve got a good scheme in a short amount of time and we’ve got some players that can make some plays. So, hopefully it all adds up.”
Just general scheme adds up to Martz in my book.
If Jennings is not available, I've got to pick the Bears to win. If they do win, it's going to be a really dismal week-end around here!
SI rumors that Urlacher and Tillman may be out too. Those losses are > than Packers loseing Jennings. Pack will win no matter what.

Based on what? 1 victory against a crappy Indy team that might win 5 games this year?
LMAO
I'm going with the Packers for two specific reasons:
1) the media is going crazy posting stupid ass articles (including ESPN) about the Packers demise. As a result, I think the Packers come out and play like thier hair is on fire with something to prove.
2) the Packers actually got a really good test with the Niners- a legit NFC team. The Bears? Oh yeah, they got all Indy could offer
Packers big in this one, something like 34 - 20 and the only reason the score looks that close is the Bores score 2 TDs late in garbage time
I like how you think Tschmack.
F those MFin' Fs. TBSS.
Pack blow them out... a coming out party for Perry.
