If history tells us anything about Aaron Rodgers and this team it's that they play their best football when they have a chip on their shoulder or something to prove. The 49ers took them down a peg, as did the Giants. They have something to prove and I think they will take it out on the Bears.

Also if we're trying to learn from history, let's keep in mind that the Packers defense under Dom Capers has consistently frustrated Jay Cutler and forced him into big mistakes. In his last 4 games against the Packers he has thrown 6 INTs. I don't care what All-World receivers he has, will make big mistakes.

Agreed, but then why did they play so averagely against SFO after having the bad taste of the NYG game in their mouth for the past 7 months? Where was the Eveready battery last Sunday? Bob Conrad wants to know...

Can't explain the performance against the 49ers. My only guess is that they really didn't come into the game with something to prove. Many people picked them to win that game and the SB and I think it went to their heads.

I believe some of the D starters played too much last Sunday....as did some of their their back-ups.

New starters, new back-ups are needed. As that is not possible at this late date Mr Capers and MM have to reverse this trend of not tackling at first contact. Just making an occasional tackle at the line or when the ball is caught would make a tremendous difference.

This has been and is a bad D....

In my opinion, their shortcomings in the tackling department have more to do with a lack of instincts or feel for the game than just technique. Clay and Bishop and Woodson have great instincts or a great feel for immediately where the ball carrier is and if they miss, they miss big. Guys like Hawk react to where the ball carrier is going to be and catches and drags down rather than driving through. Smith has shown some great instincts like Hawk, but he needs some serious technique work.
Did not notice realize Perry was on the field for every play. Walden will help with the pass D.

@WesHod
One of the things I'm looking for today is how much #Packers use Erik Walden. Per PFF, Matthews and Perry were in on all 67 plays vs 49ers

@WesHod
That's obviously common for Matthews, but that's a lot of action for the rookie Perry, who struggled to generate pressure and in coverage
Boy... you listen to the media down here and you'd think the PAckers were about to play the "Greatest Show On Turf." Bears offense is already juggernaut status and the Pscker D has no chance to stop them. Exactly how did the Bears O looking while Freeney was still there? Can the Packer D at least match that? I say yes.

It's going to be a tough game... Maybe a loss. But anyone who thinks this game will be a high scoring affair I just disagree with. Both teams have vulnerable OLs. The DLs and turnovers will determine the winner today. I worry about a WTF moment with Benson being a decider...

I have the same worry, but with Cutler. Unfortunately for us, Cutler is likely to touch the ball a few more times than Benson is Smiler.

I actually think Benson will have a positive impact for the Packers in this game. The guy's a thug, but he's a vindictive thug. I don't know how much he'll help your team longterm, but I'm sure he'll run with a chip on his shoulder tonight.

I'm still bewildered by the game plan for our defense. Not that it would've made a difference in the outcome of the game, but having a plan of OUR LB's covering their WR's just has me shaking my head.
As long as Matthews/Perry doesn't play like Matthew Perry and Benson doesn't play like a butler we should be OK.

I have an uneasy feeling about this one. Both sides of the ball had problems with "unscouted looks" last week and you can bet your doughnuts there will be more from CHI tonight. Cutler is good for some gaffes but now he actually has other guys on O to help him. If MM can get Benson going and is content with taking what the D gives him we can prevail.

When he explored his options in free agency, TE Kellen Davis longed to distance himself from the scheme employed by former Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

Frustrated by his role last season, Davis fulfilled his free-agent goal, even though he didn’t have to call a moving company.

Asked why he re-signed with the Bears on a two-year contract in March, Davis said, β€œCoach [Mike] Tice, a new offense and to have more opportunities in the pass game.”

In the TE friendly pass offense of the venerable Bears offensive coordinator (Mike Tice), Davis recorded '0' catches last week.
