Savage was just OK, and Ford was atrocious.  Safety continues to disappoint.

They weren't THAT bad and Savage played his best game in probably 2 years. I believe he's finally being used correctly.

You're a good person Boris.

I would have poked at him just to see what happens.

He's my friend and a good person. He comes over to my house, we travel together to watch games and hang out.

He can't help he was born in Chicago and is a lifelong Bear fan 🤷‍♂️

Is this a friend, or a male nurse?

If the Bears want to make the Fields thing work, they need way more talent on offense.  DJ Moore is good but that's all they have.  You put Jalen Hurts on the Bears and hard to believe he'd do much more than Fields.  But this has been the Bears MO for decades - they just lack explosive talent on offense.  Best offensive player in the last 25 years has been Matt Forte and he's not exactly a player the defense schemed around.

Getting Caleb Williams will only end poorly unless they get real offensive talent.

It's really the OL.  As long as he's been in CHI, he's been under constant pressure which has helped result in lots of running, lots of sacks and lots of turnovers.  Yes, a better QB can overcome some of that but he really did not come into a good situation to start his career.

Maybe the booth is helping Barry?

All the pass rushing stunts were aimed at rattling Fields into doing what he is apt to do in those situations.  Kind of similar to how Spagnuolo treated Love in KC a couple years ago.  Love just didn't melt.

@BrainDed posted:

Wow.   The best part for me was how Love always responded when momentum started to shift away from them.   3rd down after 3rd down he would find the open guy and make the throw.    Credit to him and credit to MLF scheme.

I got 2 negatives.   Dillon and Ford.

Dillon just doesn’t have the juice he did his rookie year.   I’d prefer those snaps go to Wilson.   Ford doesn’t look like he belongs in the NFL.

When Love answered the Bears TD to make it 24-14 with that beautiful drive and the TD pass to Doubs I knew we have our next franchise QB. He may or may not be the next Favre or Rodgers but he is a QB1. I don't think they trust Wilson in pass pro enough yet to give him any playing time. I'm not quite as sour on Dillon. He had a number of plays where he was hit right after or as he got the ball but he was also taken down by some guys that he should hit like a truck.

Anyway, positives and negatives:

Positives - all the things except injuries and some dumb penalties

Negative - gotta wait 4 months to beat these clowns again

Hey dude, how 'bout coach Prime and the Buffs?

Surreal.  Can't believe it's happening.  We went from the worst team in power 5 and possibly all of division 1 to the center of the college football world.  I don't think we're a top 25 team yet but I'm not doubting Prime anymore.  This may only last 1 or 2 years but I'm enjoying the ride .

Anyone see what's going on with Midnight Mel and Michigan St?  Not gloating but it's crazy how things went.

Kind of like David Carr in Houston. Got the crap kicked out of him.

I admit, after seeing the Mahomes flounder without his #1weapon and WR dropsies, I had a bad feeling Sunday morning about Love. No Watson and a hobbled Doubs, struggling to connect with young WRs. I was wrong. 😀

But I was right about Aaron Jones being top receiver.
Love looked like he knew what he was doing and was great on 3rd down. No hero ball on 3rd and 3.

Great TEAM win.
Good 1st step against a bad team.

Hope Jones is ok.

Found on the internet:

Obviously it is just one game, no telling where the Packers end up, but Aaron Rodgers never had an 18 point week one margin of victory. In fact, you have to back to 1998 for a larger margin of victory week one (38-19 over the Lions), the 1997 team was close (38-24 over the Bears), but in the past 25 years only one better margin of victory week one.

Now it’s never how you start the season, but how you end the season that matters, but yesterday was impressive season opener on both sides of the ball from a historical perspective….

I’m tempering my optimism a little bit as the Bears are a horrible team but still the Packers beat Chicago convincingly in their backyard without Watson and with Gary just getting back in the swing of things.

Still, it’s easy to see why Gute was wearing that shit eating grin in the locker room and MLF is genuinely upbeat and really jazzed about this team.  As good as Rodgers is or was, he was a distraction and he sucked all of the oxygen out of the room.   Now all the Packers have to do is play football and not worry about offending or stepping on 12s toes.

The other thing that’s clear to me is we are starting to see glimpses of why they took some of these players like Walker and Wyatt and Gary and Van Ness as high as they did in the draft.   The level of speed and/or athleticism on defense might be the best I’ve seen and if they play to their ability (along with Campbell and Preston) this could be a top 5 defense in terms of the front 7.   Then you throw in Jaire and Rasual and I think it’s going to be really hard to move the ball and score a lot of points against these guys.

Fields might be a terrible thrower but as a runner he’s supremely talented and there were several plays yesterday where he got stopped in his tracks or run down.   That doesn’t happen much.

Yes they play a little sloppy and undisciplined at times, but it’s clear to me this D can become elite if everyone does their job.

Never get too high after a win nor too low after a loss. Jordan Love and these Packers EXPECT to win....EVERY SINGLE WEEK REGARDLESS OF OPPONENT 🤯

But agree it's a little extra special being in Chicago 😉

All these guys also picked the queens to beat Tampa Bay as well..

Fields is so used to just sprinting past LBs that he looked stunned to see LVN take away any chance he had to get the edge. Also, LVN took a really nice angle on that play.

There is a lot of youth, even on D.  Some vet needs to corral that extra curricular garbage and help them redirect it between the whistles.  Kenny would seem to be the best candidate.  Jaire is the best player on that D but he seems to get too caught up in the celebrations and other stuff.

Bradshaw at halftime couldn't pronounce half the players names in the highlights.  Kept saying "I'll never get this one right" and then butchered the name.

Like I get it, not everyone can have the last name of Bradshaw but my god you're on a nationally televised show for the NFL and you can't figure out that Etienne is pronounced E-T-N?  How hard is this to remember?

All these guys on the Fox show need to go, they're way past their prime.

I've got a surname that's difficult for anyone who doesn't speak German to pronounce.  When I did the study abroad thing in St. Petersburg, Russia, I was happy to be able to transliterate it in such a way that Russians would be able to pronounce it without too much difficulty.

*Everybody* in Russia immediately put the stress on the wrong syllable.

Howie Long has always been a homer. I'd like to kick him right square in the nuts.

JMHO, I think Bradshaw suffers from some kind of dementia, and has for at least 2-3 years now. He generally can do OK if he is not trying to read a script or teleprompter, but halftime highlights is NOT his forte.

I know some don't care for it but I absolutely love how Jaire consistently gets into the head of the best WR on the other team. Each and every time he does this he has won the battle.
