Shams Charnia is reporting that DDV is out for the remainder of the playoffs with a serious tendon injury. That sucks......

Not sure who gets these minutes. Losing DDV is not much of a loss on offense, but he was an important guy on defense. Most of the options to soak up his minutes are offensive-oriented (Forbes, Teague, Nwora). I guess you slot Tucker in for defense.

I wonder if they start Forbes instead?  He’d be the obvious replacement and is an upgrade over DDV offensively but is a downgrade defensively.

Teague will most certainly get a close look as well, although, he’s more a PG than shooting guard and isn’t as good defensively as DDV.

Perhaps you give Pat C and Nwora some of the minutes as well.    I think Tucker and Portis stay where they are as more frontcourt oriented guys.

Yeah, that really, really sucks. I know DD was struggling with his shot, but he was a key defense and rebounding contributor and he will be missed.

I am VERY leery about Forbes with the first unit. He always looks to shoot- you can’t have that with the 3 others guys. And he’s a total mismatch liability at the other end. He’s a second unit guy, to me.

Maybe the Bucks really fuck with people and play Tucker at the 3 and move Middleton to the 2, or vice versa. I’d rather have the defensive tone set with the starters than add a liability.

As poorly as the Bucks have played, only being down 7 is a good thing.

I'm in Vegas. I bet the Bucks today. They were down early. I was already planning on quadrupling my bet for game 5 had they lost this game.

They're too much of mismatch this year for Miami. Jrue Holliday is excellent - I love that guy.

Reupping this after Game 3.

Other than Middleton, the other 4 Bucks starters are 7 for 45 from the three-point line in the 3 games.

Holiday and PJ Tucker are just tough men in the best way possible. They are physically and mentally tough players that are respected around the league (and that's important with officials during a game as well).

The Bucks were +41 in Holiday's 34 minutes.

Reupping this after Game 4. The 4 starters besides Middleton were 0 for 10 from 3 today.

So, over the 4 games, the non-Middleton starters were 7 for 55. That's 12.7% on high volume.

Middleton was OK, but 40.7% was lower than his season percentage.

Bryn Forbes probably won't shoot 53.8% (21 for 39) in the next series, but the Bucks as a team shot poorly from 3 overall and still dominated after Game 1.

The Bucks got hot in the first half of Game 2, but didn't shoot that high of a percentage overall (41.5%). In the other 3 games, they were 31 for 109 (28.4%). They'll shoot better against the lousy defense the Nets will play. It's just whether it will be enough.

I thought the moment that encapsulated everything about this series happened near the end. The Bucks were already comfortably ahead and the game was over, but there were just under 2 minutes left and Holiday got the ball on the wing with Herro matched up on him. They cleared out for Holiday and you could almost see with his body language that he knew he could do anything against Herro that he wanted. He drove on him like Herro wasn't even there, forced the help defense over, and then fed Giannis for a dunk.

Tyler Herro might end up as the biggest one-season (really about a month) wonder in NBA history. You can tell by listening to interviews with guys like Jayson Tatum (who basically called him a bubble fraud) that many of the rest of the league can't stand his attitude.

The Bucks will never beat Brooklyn... 😜

The Bucks might not beat them, but the Bucks are going to average 130 against them. I don't fear Irving at all. It's possible that Tucker may be enough of a difference-maker to win this thing.

The Bucks have at least a week to design schemes to specifically make Irving guard someone.

If Forbes and Tucker and Portis play close to what they did against Miami this team will advance.

Giannis will not have to face a Bam or Jimmy B on defense so he should have a field day on offense.  I expect the Bucks to D up Giannis on KD and Middleton on Harden and Holiday on Irving.  Tucker can come in and defend any of them off the bench.

It’s incredible just how badly the Bucks schooled the Heat.  Lopez was borderline dominant in this series.  Pat Riley will probably have nightmares in terms of how the Bucks worked them over in the paint and on the boards. Bam was almost nonexistent because they became too one dimensional relying on small ball and 3s.   Riley should have kept his roster intact but got cute thinking they would get Giannis.  Same thing with Toronto.  All I have to say is both teams can eat a shit burger.  Karma is a bitch.

As for the darling Nets, I don’t think they have any idea who or what is coming at them.  A lot of pain if you ask me.  Yes they can score.  But who plays defense on that team?  Bucks in 6.

The addition of Tucker was brilliant.  Dude is a flat out dog.  Just competes like a mother and is a beast and pest at the same time.   He intimidated the Heat, much like Holiday.

Speaking of which, he may have the greatest basketball IQ of any player I’ve seen recently.  He’s not the most gifted athlete, but he’s always in the right place at the right time and never gets rattled.  It’s almost like he lulls you into sleep and then pounces and steals your heart and soul in the process.  Kyrie Irving is going to fold like a cheap suit against that guy because Holiday’s physical strength will wear him down and frustrate the shit out of him.  Irving is usually better than 90% of the guy he faces but not in this series.

Have to give it up to Bud and the coaching staff as well as the front office for the personnel moves.

The addition of the dunker spot.  Playing Lopez there and overall getting him off the 3 point line.  Switching on defense (thanks PJ).   Moving Giannis around on offense.  No need to move on from Bud anymore.

Portis and Forbes have been HUGE additions.  Tucker is just what they needed on D.

The Nets had one of the most efficient offensive playoff games in NBA history, but had to play Harden, Durant, and Irving 40 minutes each because they couldn't completely put the Celtics away. Even without Walker, Brown, and Williams (3 starters) the Celtics had the 2nd most efficient offensive playoff game in a losing effort in the last 25 years. Kyrie Irving was unstoppable on offense and atrocious on defense. Imagine if the Nets had Holiday instead of Irving, they might outscore teams by 30 every night.
