Question: Why is everyone talking up Jeff Fisher. He was in Tennessee for ever. Never one a SB. Don't care what his won/loss record was, in the end he couldn't get along with his QB, high pick. His Defense also had a high pick in Hainesworth and he stomped guys. Left as soon as he could. Seems to me JF was good at running up the score when he could but not good enough to win it all.

Question #2: Why would San Diego stick with Norv Turner? He has been in SD a long time and what did he win? Nothing.

While we are at it Buffalo has a recycled coach who needs to be unemployed.

Fisher is a very good coach and he took his team to the SB, just lost to the Rams

The inability to get along with Vince Young is hardly an indictment of his coaching prowess

As for San Diego, they stayed with Norv because they couldn't get Andy Reid - he was their first choice and once the Eagles kept him, Chargers stayed with Norv

They'll just fire him next year after another choke job

Lather
Rinse
Repeat
I agree about Fisher. He's a good coach, exceeded expectations some years, but for the majority of his years, he was sniffing around the playoffs or making deep runs in the playoffs. Also, don't forget that during half his tenure in TN, the Colts had Peyton.

AS for Norv, it was reported that Rivers went to Spanos and said keep Norv. There is some thinking that the injuries caught up to them this year, but with a healthy team, they can make a deep run, with Matthews, VJ, Gates and Rivers? That has yet to play out, but sounded like Rivers went to bat, to give Norv one more shot. The situation was compared to Houston last year, with Kubiak on the block, but the owner decided to give him one more year, and look where they are at?
I think Fisher is/was a good coach; his teams were playoff-caliber until McNair's injuries took their toll. And if memory still serves, I don't think Fisher wanted any part of Vince Young from the get-go, but Adams 'forced' them to pick him. The rest is history.
The Chargers remind me of an old ship in desperate need of an overhaul, yet the owners force everybody to work with obsolete equipment and just plug the leaks when they crop up. They give the appearance of a team looking for a new home. Just sayin'.

I didn't hear about Andy Reid, but, I did hear they wanted Gruden since he and AJ Smith are buds. But Gruden wanted to stay in the booth - or so he said.

Agree that once they didn't find someone they wanted, they decided to stay with the status quo - which was the right decision, but it'll probably end up with the ol' same-ol' same ol'
I always found Fischer to be over-rated actually. His overall record is 142 and 120 I believe.

He had 1 deep run in the playoffs and in his 16 or 17 years only had 6 playoff teams total. His playoff record was 5-6 and with the run to the Super Bowl in which they were 3-1, in the other 5 years in the playoffs he is 2-5 with 2 embarrassing 1 and dones as the #1 seed in the AFC.

He looks like a slightly better Mike Sherman to me from a coaching perspective.
No matter what anyone thinks about Fischer, if I were him I'd be leary about taking the St. Louis Ram job. They don't have a GM yet but want to hire the HC. I would want to be interviewed by the GM and have him part of the decision to hire me because of that fact he would be over me, we'd have to work together, and I'd like to know how I fit in his organization.
The Phins really want Fisher, but Flynn and Philbin to the Phins would make that team a serious threat to win the division and unseat the Pats. The Phins have a good D, but have jack-you-know-what on offense. Flynn and Philbin could combine to give them a huge boost, and it would put both of them in the AFC. TT would have to do some serious wheelin' and dealin' to make that happen, but he's proven he's capable of it.

This could also be a scouting maneuver by the Dolphins to get the first hand info on Flynn. If I'm building a dossier on Flynn Philbin would be towards the top of the list of guys I'd want to interview.

I think is probably a part of the interview process and its also why the Chiefs, who have Crennel tee'd up, invited Philbin to interview

Little chance he gets the job, but its a good scouting opportunity
The Bucs are cursed with cheap owners (the Glazer sons, who are also clueless) and an equally cheap and clueless GM. Last year, when the lockout ended, the Bucs had the second-largest amount of cap room and they could have loaded up with some good talent (Darren Sproles was available at the time). The only free agent they picked up was a punter. Tampa Bay will be in the NFC South cellar for a little while longer.
