As my memory serves, CAL, Sherman was pretty solid on offense. We were weak at RB at times, and we lost some very good-to-great players due to freakish neck/spinal injuries, so at times our offense would suffer due to circumstances like these. But there were also times when we could rush the ball, and Favre had good protection.
After Holmgren left town, I guess Favre essentially thought he was running the show, and Sherman either couldn't or wouldn't contain him, and Favre lost any self-discipline he had left.
However, Sherman was hopelessly lost on defense. Between bad drafting, worse FA acquisitions, and extending vets that promptly faded into oblivion, the defense was atrocious. Many times we would find ourselves down by 2 TD's before people had found their seats for the opening kickoff.

I have no idea if Sherman would be a guy to develop a young QB; my guess would be probably not, but I would have no problem having him as an OL/Ass't HC -type role, if not as the OC.

IMHO, the Bucs 'legacy' has always been a strong defense. I'd like to see them get back to that. It seems like your defense hasn't had an overhaul/rebuild since the mid-to-late 90's.
Schiano huh? Well, I have heard he has had success at Rutgers. He is a defensive-oriented coach and this is certainly an interesting hire given that they tried to get an offensive guru inboard in Chip Kelly first.

I don't see how you fire Gruden to get to Raheem Morris to Schiano. That's not an upgrade in my opinion. Well, my beloved Bucs are going to be climbing uphill for the next five years.
