Agreed. It sucks that Nick got hurt, and that we're having all these injuries again. But this is a game. I hope that Nick will be ok. If he can come back someday, great. If not, he's always going to be a part of the Packer family, and his life and health are more important than football.

Tsk, tsk, you guys. All this talk about Sharper...surely you haven't already forgotten Atari "The Gamer" Bigby!
Yeah, that's it! He should be available, would come cheap, has the experience, knows the system...it's a no-brainer, right?

Right?

Guys?

He's with Seattle yes? Or did he sprain something and is on IR? Smiler

I think Atari would blow a knee taking a nap.

Opinions vary

He is considered by a few scouts to be one of the very best safeties in the League, if that helps your assessment. And here is a snippet from Bob McGinn on his annual ranking of the Packers to start the 2011 campaign:

"Ranks with Washington's LaRon Landry as the top two safeties in the NFC."

Nick certainly had some struggles early in his career but he really took off under the coaching of Darren Perry and Capers. Remember when fans were worried if he could pick up the nuances of the new 3-4 defense ?
I think Nick will be sorely missed; either way its next man up in Green Bay.

Onward
He'll definitely be missed. Great range and ball skills. Burnett compares favorably to Nick as far as athleticism goes, but obviously as a 2nd year guy(who missed his first year due to injury) he doesn't bring the pedigree or production that Nick does.

In any case, depending on what the injury is, if Nick is able to move around and be around his team mates, you know damn well he'll be. He was one of the defensive leaders and I'm confident that he'll try his best to coach up Burnett and co. from the sidelines throughout the rest of the year.

When did we trade for Atari Bigby

We didn't. He was a free agent.

From Wikipedia:

"Atari was originally signed to the Packers practice squad on Nov 1, 2005. Was then promoted to the active roster on December 22, 2005 and made his NFL debut on December 25 against the Chicago Bears. He was inactive for the final contest against the Seattle Seahawks.
Bigby was waived by the Packers at the end of the 2006 preseason, but was signed two days later to their practice squad."

After exiting Sunday's game in the second half with a foot sprain, Ryan Pickett is hopeful he'll play in Chicago this week.

"As far as I know, yes," Pickett said. "I'm just a little sore. It's all right."

As of Monday afternoon, Pickett hadn't met with doctors. There wasn't one specific play where he injured his foot.

"My foot just started hurting," he said. "I didn't know what it was. I don't think it's anything serious. I played pretty much the whole game with it."
