So a Division Championship and a Super Bowl doesn’t matter, anything could happen. Rodgers wants to play you can see it in his body language. This sucks that the lawyers and medical staffs now run the NFL teams. Remember tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. The D will have to play the best game of the year and Flynn cant have any turnovers, control the game and pray Lacey’s ankle is much better than it was last Sunday.
Lacy.
MM: "It's not easy to tell your franchise quarterback he can't play" unless you are Mike Shanahan.
Rodgers wants to play you can see it in his body language.
THIS is what keeps me coming back.
MM: “We need to protect [Rodgers] from himself, frankly, on some of those things. Everybody understands the importance of Aaron to our football team but, more importantly, to our organization."

White knocked on coach Mike Holmgren's door at midnight Wednesday after season-ending surgery had been scheduled and announced: "I can play."
"I was going down to turn off the Christmas lights and there he was. I thought it was Santa Claus," Holmgren said.
White worked out Thursday and was upgraded from "out" to "questionable" on the injury list for Saturday's game in New Orleans. The surgery was canceled.
After Rodgers went down against the Bears, McCarthy didn’t immediately rule out Rodgers for the following week’s game against Philadelphia, saying, “Let’s not kid ourselves, if he walked in your office and asked for the ball on Saturday, what would you do?”
Sunday @ DAL is 12/15/13, 18 years later to the day from Reggie proclaiming he can play.

I dont believe it's Rodgers or McCarthyS call to make. That's why it sucks!
It's God's.

I was at the game with my wife on that day at the Superdome. What a great game and great to see Reggie standing in the middle of the field waving to the crowd during pre-game. It feels like such a different time now vs. then. The decision making processes are also much different.
Risk -v- reward. Reggie toward the end of his career and Rodgers at the peak of his with about 5-6 more very strong years likely.
It's God's.
Just for clarification, you're not talking about this guy, right???
if he can practice, he can play.
last weeks weather I can see holding out ... Are we that worried about our OLine?
NFLFU.
here's another great idea ... while we hold out AR lets let our newly minted stud RB get pounded game in, game out.
Even better, lets put him in undue risk at the end of halves and really roll the dice.
Something is not right here about the way they are going about handling all of this.
Sounds like he was pretty close to coming back, they should get him back next week for the Steelers (7 weeks of recovery). Even if the Packers don't win in Dallas, they're still alive in the chase for the NFCN. Detroit would need to lose 2 out of 3 (very plausible scenario for the Lions) and Chicago would need to lose one of the two games before they play the Packers in week 17.
Not mathematically eliminated with a loss tomorrow, but any realistic shot at the postseason really requires them to win out. Really don't see any issue with AR until he's medically cleared to play and for some reason doesn't.
Heard ex GM Pullian (sp?) on TV the other day talking about how different injuries are now handled in the NFL. Said it is entirely up to the doctor. Said that no longer does the coach and player have any part in it, too much $ & liability now.
But, but, but . . . People NEED to be able to call MM an idiot & AR12 a wimp!!

I agree with this. I know they're a little thin at RB with Franklin being IR'd a few weeks back and DH not playing at all. But I'm surprised how little Starks has been used these past 6 games. Unless he's banged up more than we as fans know.
Lacy already has 227 carries (with two missed games) with three games to go. He could easily approach 300 carries. That would be insane for a guy that carries the ball in his college career only 355 timer (204, 95, 56). I would hate to see Lacy get banged up early in his career because he was overused. Starks has been pretty good, and I'd like to see him get more carries.
As long as the Packers are in the hunt, they should play the players who give them the best chance to win the game to include Lacy. Who's to say the Packers even get this far next year; or, the year after that? Sht, WTF happens if we do revisit the 70's and 80's for the next couple of years? I say you never toss a season away, if you are still in the hunt! The Packers should always play with a sense of urgency until they are mathematically eliminated.
Another reason to play for the win is that that is what is owed to the fans! I do not buy in to that the Packers do not owe us anything. BS! With out fans, they do not exist! So, play to win the F'n game with all the resources available to include players who are medically cleared.
Esox - I agree about playing the best players when they're able to play. I just don't want to see Lacy get overused in his rookie season. He's on pace for 280+ carries....that's a lot. If they didn't have a capable backup, then I could see running him more while they're in the hunt. I just think Starks could take 5-10 carries from Lacy and the running game could still be as productive as it has been (although a few of these games it's been nonexistent). Maybe even a little more productive if it made Lacy fresher.
Fair enough Dude!
Dude!
Starks has been pretty good, and I'd like to see him get more carries.
Oh really? Lets look at the last 6 games.
Nov. 4 vs Bears 6 for 40 yards, long of 32.
Nov. 10 vs. Eagles 4 for 5 yards long of 3
Nov. 17 vs Giants 2 for -1 yards
Nov. 24 vs. Vikings 3 for 37 yards, long of 34
Nov. 28 vs Lions 2 for 2 yards
Dec. 8 vs. Falcons 7 for 19 yards
Totals, 24 carries for 103 yards. Take out the 2 long runs and the totals are 22 carries for 37 yards or a 1.68 average. Yah, he's been pretty good.
And oh, I forgot the 2 receptions for 4 yards too.
I couldn't bear to go back on topic with the first post after.....after.....that!
As bad as I hate to say it, the injury bug is still biting the RBs in the butt. Lacy and Starks are our two viable options, and with Lacy dinged, we're razor-thin there
With that said, I don't think Lacy should see more than 20 touches; 25 max. Starks seems to be running well right now, and I can't see that there should be any drop-off or limitations with him in the game. AMOF, I still think Lacy and Starks could shuttle in/out more frequently without affecting game planning or play calls.
Ammo
I wasn't really referring to the past 6 games specifically. I just meant as a Packer, Starks has been pretty good when healthy. Over the past 5 games, Lacy hasn't been lighting it up either because defenses are stacking the line.
My point is not that Starks is a better or "as good" option to Lacy. It's that Lacy has a boatload of carries, and I'd like to see that number not so high his rookie year. I think Starks brings a different running style, and if he could take 5-10 carries away from Lacy, it may keep Lacy fresher and more successful these last 3 games.
if he can practice, he can play.

No, not if the bone scan showed he is not fully healed and obviously the scan from a week earlier was not something they could allow CONTACT to happen with for at least two weeks from that time. You know, QB's getting sacked and with Rodgers scrambling abilities. Not properly healed bone, breaks worse then before, surgery and then who knows where this team is for 2014. They're going nowhere with that defense anyway.
Green Bay has a head coach that's fully prepared to sink the season trying to protect the biggest asset the franchise has from himself without worrying one bit if he doesn't win now he might be out of a job.
Big picture only works if you let smart people connect the dots.
Until AR is medically cleared to play, he should not play. Period! No cryin by me over that. However, once he is cleared to play, he should play as long as the Packers are still in the hunt. Once the Packers are eliminated, then I have no opinion whether he plays or not.

GB could lose all the remaining games & MM is still safe.
75% completion percentage, over 10.5 yards per completion, a TD and only 1 interception. I will take that from Flynn every Sunday.
Yah forgot to include all the sacks and the fumble due to holding the freakin ball too long! Seriously, I hope your confidence in Flynn will continue past this next game and that I will have to eat crow.
I am happy that he came through for us, but, i was having some serious doubts by halftime...
